The Mr & Mrs do disney Nov/Dec 09 - UPDATE : can the last one out turn the lights off

Just been doing a bit of research about 'Ice' - has anyone been?

We were thinking about doing this and I asked around on the boards and heard it was super cool (no pun intended.) Anyway we decided against Universal, as we had originally planned and I was looking for something to do and thought about ICE. But then Greg (DH) said that he thinks that a half day or whatever in DTD would be better. That way we know we'll definitely get there and we'll have plenty of time to shop and see everything. Does this man know me or what!?!? So ICE is out and an extended shopping trip to DTD is in. :yay:

We never pay for park hoppers. It's just not worth the price for us. We did get them for free with our package twice and only used them to walk through Epcot to get to the Boardwalk! So when we didn't have them we soon learned to just take a bus to DHS and the boat to the Boardwalk, no ticket needed!

On our first trip we had them included because we used a UK type of ticket and on the last trip we had an annual pass - but I think we only hopped maybe 1 or 2 times. Decided against them for this trip now though :thumbsup2

You can always add on park hoppers when you check in if you decide you want to upgrade your tickets. We have done trips with and without them. In the summer it is nice to park hop because one park might crazy busy where as another might not be so horrible. We alway plan our days in 1/2s because of the park hopper that and the fact we don't usually to go the parks for more than 4 or 5 days and do a 1/2 day at AK.

It's just your own opinion if you want them or not and depending on how you plan as well!! If we stayed longer or had more days in the park, we probably would not pay the extra to hop!! Good luck moving your ADRs!!

I'm praying for a CM breakfast on Dec 13 or 15 but called today and they are still booked!

Thanks for the advice, it's handy to know that you can add things on at check-in if needed :thumbsup2

I spent a few hours going over the plans last night and have decided to keep what we've got - thought about it in more depth etc.. and what i've already planned will work out fine, its probably just me worrying & stressing - so i've given myself a slap and am sticking with it

I hope you manage to get the CM breakfast that you want :wizard: Just keep calling and looking online, especially nearer the time incase people cancel.

I like this plan! :thumbsup2

 So did I, but i've decided to have it delivered to the room the night we check in - hopeing thats an option though!

 yay for the extended shopping trip, Greg definately knows you well :yay:

We've got 2 half days at DTD (including DQ) so have no fear, there will be a huge shopping report in my trip report :lmao:

We've decided to do Ice and Ripleys Believe It Or Not - we've not done either of them before and DH likes anything new :) Plus, it will give him a bit of a break from all the disney stuff and shops

8 weeks today

:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

:banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2::banana::cheer2:

This time in 8 weeks we will be getting in the taxi going to the airport!!!

and extra cheer for Disney on Ice tonight :dance3:

Man, you have been a busy little poster here. I myself like the park hoppers, I like knowin I have that option, but I was thinking back to all my other trips (yeah, all 2 of them) I only park hopped once! I guess I am throwing away money for a sound piece of mind.
I will park hop this year though. Ya know with the whole booking ADR's at MK on taping day. I could just kick myself, but I have the hopper, and hop I will do.

I like your cake idea. Wow I'm hungry!!!

WOO HOO :woohoo: So excited for you, and me too because we won't be too far behind you.

I think it is best that you kept things the way they are. I know, I'm the same way. You'll have everything done and then all of a sudden you start to second guess yourself. I'm glad you get it all worked out though.

So much to talk about...

I agree on the Park Hopper thing...we had them for all of our past trips. We maybe hopped 2 or 3 times??? Needless to say, this time we opted out to save the cash...would've cost us $250 more. We will just deal with having to stay in the same park every day. At least you are staying on property so you can take advantage of EMH's if you want.

Ice...I've heard it's neat but to bundle up!!!

The cake you should be able to have delivered. Call the cake line and they should be able to give you someone specifically for WL.

Yay for Disney on Ice! Can't wait for the pix and review!!!!!

SUPER YAY for 8 weeks!!!!!! We are all right behind you! So, the sooner you get there, the sooner we get there!!!! I am eight weeks away this coming Wednesday!!!! WooHooooooooooo!:cheer2::yay::woohoo:

:woohoo: on 8 weeks! Then before you know it, time is tomorrow!

Re: park hoppers, I get 'em, think they are great! However, I'm one person and extra $50 is no biggie big. For a whole family, it might be a totally different story. It's also good, if you are only there for a short time and want to hit all the good stuff at each park. :goodvibes

Re: ICE, I went to it and it wonderful! Definitely go if you have the chance. Yes, it is VERY COLD, but they will give you parkas to wear. Be careful of your camera as mine froze a couple of times but the camera itself was fine. I have pictures in my PTR if you want a preview.

And Gaylord Palms is also very beauitful as well and worth some extra time to check it out while you are there.

For me personally, I can't imagine going to WDW without park hoppers, honestly! I love to hop. Hoppity hop hop! :stitch: I love being able move freely between parks and dodge crowds on certain days. I also like being able to have at least one more-or-less "unscheduled" day for us to be able to to go back and do whatever we want in any or all of the parks. :goodvibes But again, that's just what suits my style of park touring. Everybody is different!

You know I never really figured out how much we actually use the hopper. We had it last time, but DH had insisted it was a necessity. We have it again this time, but I do know we will be making use of it. I actually went back to review our itinerary to make sure we were using it. I could see both sides of the park hopper debate. I think if you use it, it's worth the money, if you don't and you can do without it then that's an excellent way to save some cash.

 been getting a bit babbly havent I  I did warn you all at the start of this that I tend to go off very random all of a sudden :lmao:

I think the hoppers are something that's great if they are going to make your plans easier etc... like in your case :thumbsup2 but we arent doing any hopping this trip, so it just isnt worth it. Im not ruling them out for every trip though, will just see where the plans lead us.

I need to discuss cakes, think that will be something for this weekend - you can all help me come up with a good one to surprise DH with. I was gonna get our wedding cake recreated, but then I thought it would be cool to get something totally different and fun - so all get your thinking caps on ready for the heated weekend cake debate! :cutie:

Lucky! Hehe. Yesterday was 2 months exactly for me. Today is "60 Days!" exactly! And I ~think~ that on Wednesday, will be lookin' at 8 weeks exactly. Good lord, I need to make more tickers!

Hey there honey  Glad you made your way over here  Tickers are great, you can never have too many tickers!!

WOO HOO So excited for you, and me too because we won't be too far behind you.

8 WEEKS deserves a little party!!

Yeah, we're making use of the evening magic hours at the studios and MK - will have to double check the epcot one's too, but I dont think thats the night we are there.

I'm glad you've heard good things about ice - i'll definately wrap up warm, think they offer you these huge bright blue jackets if you havent wrapped up enough - how stylish will I look  Think that would make a good kodak moment though :lmao:

Thanks for the cake tips, i'll give them a call and see if they can help.

Can't wait for disney on ice, DH should be home soon and then we will be going :yay:

Thanks for the 8 week cheers! I dont know where i've been though, I thought your dates were after ours for some really random reason!! Are some of our days over lapping then? I'll have to go over your pj again and see if we are at any parks on the same days as we could arrange to bump into each other if you fancy meeting a loony that is  ;)

Hiya!! Yeah, I agree about the hoppers being great if ur only there a short time and want to hit everything - guess it just depends on everyones plans and what suits them best.

I'm glad you enjoyed Ice, i'll definately have to check out your PTR! Thanks for the warning about the camera, might take a normal 'throw away' type one rather than risking our digital one's maybe :confused3 Thanks for the tip about the resort too, will definately have a nosey around - might have lunch there actually which will save us trying to find somewhere else.

Congratulation:hug::love::hug: I hope your special dinner turns out fab!!!!! I know how you feel 8 weeks today:woohoo::woohoo: My DH thinks I need to get a life instead of Disney,WHY!!!! If it makes me happy and keeps me out of your hair I think we both get something out of it. I packed all the extras on my day off yesterday and I still have a ton of room no worries. Just biding my time come on guys keep me sane.:rolleyes1

Thank the heavens for parkhoppers this time around are going to be my saving grace.
I like the idea of a Disney themed cake, maybe you could have it made to remind you of you and DH's favorite Disney attraction/ride? Or characters?

I was playing around in my craft room today and made you this.

It's your Dis'er identification card. Now you can either PM me your address I will mail it to you. Or I can give it to you when I see you at MK on Dec 3rd. Just let me know.

Am I sounding stalkerish? Too pushy?

Thankyou!! We had a lovely meal thanks! I need to take some photos of the calendar I gave dennis (paper is first anniversary) I had some of our wedding photos printed on it and it looks soooo cute

Most hubbys hate the disney planning stuff and dont get into it like we do - but once they are in disney they are so glad we did the planning! Men!!

I'd love to be able to start packing but havent got the room to leave all the cases open, so I've just been gathering bits and keeping them in a washing basket in my spare room  I really need to get more organised though, think i'll be writing losts of lists this weekend and trying to tick things off :thumbsup2

I was wondering about maybe a miss piggy & kermit cake? or maybe even one that's themed on the wilderness lodge at xmas? will have a google later and try and get some ideas together :)

DBF is the same way! Bless him, he puts up with me so well, though. Listens to me ramble on for way too long, and even gives his input when I show him menus and ask for ADR opinions. But he admits that without me, he'd be one of those people standing around unhappy, not knowing what to do or where to go and missing out on so much, and he's glad that I'm working so much on making our trip go well. It was nice to hear that. :lovestruc

 Yep, we drive them totally crazy before the trip - but they love us for it once we're there!

If it wasnt for these boards and advance planning, our trips definately wouldnt have been as magical as they have and hopefully will continue to be. I've found soooo many things on here that I didnt even know existed - which has led to life time memories for us

EXACTLY! I firmly believe that when people go to Disney World then come home and say that they didn't understand what the big deal was or that they didn't really enjoy themselves, that 90% of the time it's simply from lack of planning! I think people expect to just show up and everything just sort of fall into place. Instead, they end up spending half of their trip standing around, staring at maps, arguing over where to go next, waiting in line for dinner for an hour or more, and leaving with a less than magical experience. A little planning goes a long way.

And if you're a DISer, a LOT of planning makes an "okay" vacation turn into an AMAZING one. :goodvibes

I agree! I can understand not needing to plan too much if you've been to disney loads and have already done most things - but if you are quite new to disney then planning is a must to ensure you get the best out of it :goodvibes

But, even when its our 20th trip, i'll still be planning like mad because its part of the fun
