The Mouse-KIDS are in charge...a Jan '12 PTR NEW 2/5 TR link & new tickers

I'm with Heidi! I can't believe you are only eight days away from your trip! How did this happen???

Revisiting past trips is always fun! It's neat to see how much the kids have grown and changed over the years. :goodvibes

Continuing w/ my 10 days countdown Happy 8 days till DISNEY!

Nathan’s favorite moments for me and I think in part to him involve some minor victories in his life of Autism. Reading is one of his passions and something he always is doing. Wherever we go, he has at least one or two books w/ him and Disney is no exception. During the end of one of our final days during our 2008 trip (he was 9 yrs) we decided to go visit the Princesses…of course this was not high on his list of things to do. He had a book w/ him to keep him occupied during our somewhat long wait in the queue.

After we were in the room with the Princesses and taking our time w/ each one…he began to get agitated and bored and wanting to leave. Belle was the last Princess we saw and she asked Nathan “Young sir, what is troubling you?”

I can’t remember exactly what he replied back…but I know it wasn’t a nice thing to say to a Princess…;)

I know I was freaking out a bit and trying to figure out how to apologize…but she jumped right in and asked “What do you have w/ you?”

“a book”

“Oh you love to read! So do I!” “What is your story about?”

100_2430.jpg

And there they stood for almost 5 minutes chatting happily away about his book and reading and stories…it truly touched my heart and I knew at that moment Disney will always hold a special place in my heart…for how this Princess turned a very sour situation for my Asperger son into something Magical…and maybe this is why he has a “crush” on her still…shhh he’d be embarrassed if he knew I told you..:rolleyes1

One of his other favorite moments come w/ his favorite movie and now all-time favorite ride…his first time riding Toy Story Midway Mania! He loved every part of this ride, from the great queue, to the cars to shooting darts, balls, pies…it was a blast for him! And I love how he looks here in this picture after coming off the ride!

The last special memory I have to share is from our most recent trip in Nov. of 2010, after some though and debate and a lot of research and talking we signed him up for the Pirate League experience and he LOVED it…he went w/ his Dad and Grandpa to be transformed into Tobias Foulstench:

Photo0207FourBySix.jpg

The best part of this whole thing is watching the video Matt shot while he was getting his make-up done and how he was just in heaven, talking the WHOLE time w/ the CM and how he just felt so cool. What a great memory and time for him!

stay tuned for more planning updates and memories...

I just love how our kiddos on the spectrum can all find thier place at Disney! That moment with Belle is just so precious! :goodvibes

Happy 8 Days!! :cool1:

I love the idea of Disney theme nights - I've seen others on here do them as well. I wish I had the time to pull them off, my kids would love them.

they really are very easy...keep one a try :thumbsup2

Julie, I'm joining in since we are sharing our photos this month.

Hey Julie- i've been a total slacker on your PTR! So sorry!

Gosh your family is just beautiful! Love all the Christmas pics. What are the red bags you use under the tree- does it have their names on them? too cute!

aww thanks...yes the red bags all have the kids' names on them. the twins bags are actual re velevet sacks they were given to Matt and I w/ presents in them several yrs before we even had children. I had saved them and for the kids' 2nd Christmas i beleive matt and i had the idea to put theri santa present into the red sacks...my sister then surged their names on green flet w/ gold ribbon..they are awesome! the little girls each have one too, made out of some scrap fabric my sister found and an old dress of mine :thumbsup2

I can't believe how close you are to leaving now. Another fabulous Disney trip. I have to say, if you can fit it in 4 suitcases, then you are my hero! :rotfl: I am going to try and pack lighter next November when we go since we will have a w/d again. It is so hard though when you have so many cute disney clothes, right?

yeah I don't know...I'm getting nervous it ain't gonna happen...maybe bump it up

all the plans look great. Love all the pins for trading. I think i will order some this year for Will. I think he will get into that this year!!

Happy New Year!

yes it is fun...we really enjoy it, especially Nathan!

It looks like Santa was good to the Scrappie family! Great Christmas pictures.

Sorry to hear Naomi-Ruth was sick for the holiday. :sad2: That's never fun.

Love the St. Lucia Day tradition. Those are things the kids will always remember...I love traditions like that!

Beautiful Christmas trees!

Oh my gosh Julie! You are 9 days out! (haha, had to edit this b/c your ticker said 8!) :woohoo: I love knowing that your PTR will have almost as many pictures (I think MORE this time) than mine! Christmas looks like a blast and Santa Lucia Day looks fun as well! :thumbsup2

Oh, poor naomi!! Hope she felt better quickly!

Loving all the Christmas photos! Once again, you have a beautiful family!

Ok, in the photo above, what is the "multiple castles" item? I've never seen anything like that before and I'm a big fan of the castle.

This pretty much goes against the detailing that WDW used to pride themselves on.....

Well I'm here in time for you to leave!

Seriously though, I am so glad everything has come together, Matt being able to go especially! Love love love Nathan's moment with Belle. You have a beautiful family and it's going to be a magical trip.

I'm loving the kids' special moments! Each child is so different and the way they experience the parks is evidence of that. Very sweet!

Looks like that list is getting smaller and smaller! I'm glad you have found some excitement for this trip. Only a few days now!

I love those special moments! Not a bad idea really, to isolate the little things that make Disney special. I might just do that for myself!

What wonderful moments, thanks for sharing them!

Only a few days left- I can't believe you are already going back. You guys are just going to have a blast.

I saw that huge tarp on another thread. ICK! I hear they are adding the themed tarp soon though, so maybe before your trip it won't look so bad.

Happy 6 days to Disney…

Let’s look back at my middle child Rachel…this kid has spunk and beauty and it fits right in w/ her favorite moments…

In our 2008 trip, we made sure we went to see Ariel, the Little Mermaid, at age 5 ½ she was in love w/ the singing red-head and just couldn’t wait to meet her. We timed it just right to go into the now gone Ariel’s grotto so we could see her. She even brough her special Ariel “Barbie”…

When it was our turn she went right up to and gave her a big hug and said “You are my favorite Mermaid!”

Ariel replied w/ “You are my favorite Human!”

image012.jpg

It was the most sweetest thing ever!

Also from this trip, remember when we saw the Princesses in the story about Nathan and Belle? Well it was getting close to our turn to enter the rooms where they are and they were letting people in and then stopped us to wait…grrr I thought. But that wait turned out to be a Magical Moment waiting to happen…after several more minutes passed and it was now our turn Rachel was first to head in when who was standing there waiting to greet us but Aurora.

100_2411.jpg

I was like “Matt, Matt quick the camera!” and we were able to capture the picture above…it is just so special.

The next memory of course involves yet another princess but not just any princess but my special princess…Rachel herself when she visited BBB in Nov of 2010. She loved this whole experience from the hand crafted dress I bought her, to feeling oh so special and made up. She looked wonderful! I love this picture of her being shown how she looks and that cute little nervous smile on her face:

Be back w/ more memories and some more last minute planning and prep!
