So sad. It's out last day at Disneyland. We slept in a bit after having been up so late the night before, got ready, and went and had breakfast at Steakhouse 55. The families split up today, as the BFF's wanted to do DL rides and the Mouse family wanted to do DCA. After breakfast, we came back to the room and packed and then had bell service pick up our bags and hold them for us. It was now 11 and the shuttle was coming at 3:20 to take us to the airport, so we had a last few hours at the park.
The girls wanted to ride GRR, but we nixed that as we didn't want to fly home wet.
So we stopped by our new favorite family ride, Screaming, and got FPs.
As we walked down the pier towards Maliboomer, I head a voice saying "Hey, Lime Green Mickey Head!" I looked over and seated on a nearby bench was another DIS boarder with their own LGMH. It was HuskerMickey and her son. We introduced ourselves and had a nice chat. It was the first time that I had seen anyone all week with a LGMH, but HuskerMickey had run into one other person besides us. Her son took a picture of her with our family.
Interestingly enough, when I got back home and did a search for her on the boards, it turns out that we are on the same Disney cruise in November 2009! It is a small world after all.
We said goodbye to HuskerMickey and her son, and DH and DD9 did Maliboomer. After they came back to earth, DD9 and DD7 rode Orange Stinger, and then the 4 of us hit MM. Then we headed back to Screaming, got another set of FPs, and used our first set to ride it.
After that we did TSMM one last time, where DD9 finally managed to beat her mother. We used our 2nd set of FPs to ride Screaming one last time. I had already bought 2 sets of pictures of us on Screaming, so I just took a picture of us on the monitor. Kind of fuzzy, but you get the idea.
We had lunch at Taste Pilot's Grill again. I had the BBQ ribs, which rocked! The coleslaw was good, too. We did a bit of shopping and then had to head back to the hotel to catch the shuttle back to the airport. On the way back, DD9 was in tears. She kept saying over and over again, "I don't want to go home. I want to live at Disneyland!" Sigh. Would be nice.
I caught Goofy hanging around outside the front of the hotel looking rather lonely.
The shuttle arrived right on time and it only took about 20 minutes to get to SNA. There was a boy on the shuttle the same as DD9 who had also been at DLR for the week, who was also on our flight. So the kids had a good time playing together while waiting for the flight home.
In conclusion:
We had a WONDERFUL time. I can truly say that this was our best time at DLR as a family and it was even more special because we got to share it with our BFFs.
We really enjoyed the DLH. The view from our room was terrific and the room was large and comfortable with so many magical touches. The girls loved the pool and the water slide (Mom liked it too). However, we probably won't stay there again. Since we just don't spend that much time in the room now that the kids are older, we'd be perfectly happy to save money and stay at HoJos, which is equivalent walking distance to the parks. They have a nice pool and there are much less expensive restaurants along Harbor.
I discovered the Long Beach airport after I had already booked our flight into SNA. We really like SNA - small, close to DL, easy to get in and out, but I'll definitely price flights to Long Beach as well next time.
Here are pics of the 3 pins that I bought there (DD9 also has a Screaming pin)
And the print that I bought
The other thing that I learned is that I had great intentions of keeping up with the live trip report, but that actually experiencing the parks kept getting in the way.
Thanks for your patience and for sharing our trip with us.
The Mouse family's next visit to the Mouse is November 2009 when we have 10 days at WDW and then a 7 night Western Double Dip Cruise!! One year and counting!!
