The Mother/Daughter Polynesian Surprise **NEW 5/1 I'm back!

I did the same thing, but added 3 days! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Okay, you've lost me with "LS"....I assume it's analogous to Bell Services? We used it last year and it worked fine, although as you pointed out, you probably won't get your luggage for a while. We went to the parks and took our swimsuits with us so that we were sure we could go to the pool at the resort we were checking into in the afternoon.

Do you mean the acronym?? I think it's Luggage Services. Took me a while too.

Sorry folks! Forgot that I'm not on the fridge swap thread. LS = Luggage Services, you're right. The acronym for Bell Services would be intrepreted much differently :rolleyes1

Glen, you used LS for luggage transfer before? How long did it take? Were you without your luggage all day? Did you check-in at your next resort in the morning or did you go to a park first? Sorry to bombard you with questions

I was speaking to my mom today about the trip. It's clear that at some point I slipped that we're staying until April 30th. Initially, I told her we were only staying 6 nights at Pop Century. I don't think I've mentioned anything about staying at the Poly for those additional 2 nights. That would definitely ruin the BIG surprise. I made sure to reiterate that we're staying 9 nights at Pop and my mom never said anything. Here's hoping!

I'm still pondering how to spring the surprise on her. I want it to be special. Disney is good at doing these things, aren't they? I just don't know how to approach it. Any ideas?

Some factors to consider:
1. She'll need to know before we check out of Pop Century so she can pack up all her stuff to move to Poly

2. At check-in at Pop they might mention we're doing a split stay since they noted it on the file when I made the booking

Here's one idea of mine:
I have flower leias (at least I think that's what they're called) so perhaps I could compose a riddle with the leia inside a box? Ugh, I'm no good at this kind of stuff....

Can you have it noted on the reservation that it's a surprise? Maybe that'll keep them from saying something...even so, if they do, just play dumb on where you're going?

Then the night before she needs to pack up, set out some Poly themed items so when she wakes up, she'll be confused...then you can let her know :)

Good idea! I'll have to mention that. Maybe they'll suggest something too when I say it's a surprise.

Hey that's a good idea! I'll have to find myself some coconuts, grass skirts, and more leias!

Yes, we were pretty much without our luggage all day. We turned our stuff over to BS  in the morning, then went to the parks. Probably about mid-afternoon we went and checked-in at our new resort. Our stuff didn't arrive until probably about 3 or 4 pm. We took our swimsuits with us in a backpack when we went to the parks to ensure that we could hit the pool as soon as we got to the new resort. I just remembered -- we put that backpack in a locker at the park so we didn't have to schlep it all over the place. A locker fee could be a lot cheaper and easier than taking a cab. Other than segregating our swimsuits and stuff we wanted to have and carrying the backpack it was a very easy process and I'd do it again without hesitation.

BS :p

Good point about the lockers. Do you know how much they are? Perhaps I'll bring a backpack or small bag this time to use for essentials when we're switching resorts. Thanks for the info!

:faint: Man, you've got a lotta questions Jenbear! (Just kidding, I'm glad to help.)

I don't remember the exact amounts involved, but we went to the Magic Kingdom that day and I remember that we had to pay some fairly large amount when we got the locker, like maybe $10, and then when we returned to get our stuff out of the locker and returned the key we got a deposit back, like maybe $5. I'm sure there's a forum somewhere around here where somebody knows the answer to that question.

Sorry to be such a nuisance  I forgot the wealth of information that's available right here on the DIS :rolleyes1

I found out that a small locker costs about $10 which includes a $5 refundable deposit for the key. With that in mind, we'll go with using BS to transfer our luggage and rent a locker. :thumbsup2

You're not a nuisance! Man, I can't believe I got the amounts right.

Got my tooth pulled today :( To be completely honest, the procedure itself was rather painless. The dentist froze me up good :thumbsup2 The only thing I did feel was the pressure as he yanked the tooth out. Nothing painful though. Not to be graphic, but there was lots of blood. I hate the taste of it. :crazy2: That was nearly enough to make me lose my lunch (thankfully I hadn't eaten right before) Afterwards, I was fine..........until the freezing started to wear off. Holy alarm bells! I was in PAIN. I couldn't fill my prescription pain meds fast enough! When I finally did get some pills in me, it took nearly an hour and a half for them to kick in. Ugh. It was very painful. I was restricted to a liquid diet for the rest of the day. That was extremely hard since I love food. Soup and meal replacement drinks only get you so far....

I go back April 1st for a follow up. If all heals properly, I get the implant in July. I saved the tooth that was pulled. A momento of my last baby tooth that just didn't want to come out.

In other news, there's only 3 and a half weeks left until I leave for the cruise. Last Sunday, at this seminar I had to go to for work, I met the girl I'm going to be rooming with. She seems around the same age and all-around, a nice girl. We should make good roommates :thumbsup2

There's been practically no time to work on the itinerary for April. I've only got our first night planned out. But that leaves another 8 to plan :faint: I'm off again tomorrow so I'm going to try to get some more days planned out.

I think I'm feeling some side effects from the meds so I'm off to bed. Keep smiling every one :goodvibes

3 days!??! Well someone likes to splurge :p

I was soooooooooo happy to see this conversation!! I was totally wondering about how LS worked out for people!! I have to do it twice! Thanks for the reminder to take my swimsuit out, too.

Jen- So sorry to hear about your tooth! Glad you got all doped up though, and that the pain meds are working. To bad it had to take so long thought! Yikes!!

Hope that time you need to plan out your remaining 8 days comes along!

As do I! You'll definitely hear all about it upon my return ;)

Thank you for the kind words, Liesa. I felt really miserable last night. Thankfully I didn't wake up to my face looking like a chipmunk. That was my biggest worry.

Hope that time you need to plan out your remaining 8 days comes along!

Me too! Hopefully I can get some planning done today - that is if I can get my laundry done :laundy:

The more important thing is how do you FEEL!? Still on those pain meds?? Or is it a little better? I'd take chipmunk face syndrome over pain anyday!

I'd also take laundry over toilets anyday too. :lmao:

:lmao: I'd have to agree with you on that one! I feel okay. Not great but okay. I just took my first pain pill of the day a couple minutes ago. The pain seems to increase whenever I do physical activity i.e. laundry, making my bed, lifting things, etc. Thanks for asking Liesa

Ouch. Bummer. I had to get teeth pulled for braces as a kid. Not a fun time. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Oooch! So sorry you're in pain! Be sure to drink plenty of fluids when on pain meds. This will help with some of the unpleasant side effects. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Your cruise is so soon! Woo Hoo! At least when in pain you have 2 exciting trips to look forward to. Nothing better than that to distract a girl. :thumbsup2
