WARNING LONG POST Where to begin...This is a bit long and involved, but I needed to share what's been going on. It helps to talk about it, and I do know some of yall personally. Having met yall last December at MF. :wave2:
Last Friday.(at least I think it was Friday, the days have been a blur) My DH ( Bob) had been feeling a bit off. He has been having trouble sleeping and seemed to be having trouble breathing. We thought maybe he was getting asthma. Not so.
We went to a clinic and his blood pressure was through the roof. We are talking stroke level. Needless to say he was admitted to the hospital right away. They got the bp down and then came more bad news. They wanted to do more tests. Stuff on his heart. They did a lot of tests, and while some of the news was good,(no blockage) some was bad and scary. Apparently he has had high bp for so long that it has damaged his heart. It's not pumping enough. Congestive heart failure was the end result.
I have been a complete mess, but trying to hold it together for him. We don't need him stressing over me stressing. :sad1:
Anyway, we spent three days in the hospital and let me tell you..I have never in my life been so physically and emotionally spent.
The doctors all agree that with proper diet(NO TO LITTLE SODIUM) and the meds, his heart will regenerate and he should be better never cured..but better. Getting that bp down and reducing the stress on his heart is key. We have a bp monitor at home now. So far so good. More appointments come Monday and Tuesday. So we shall see.
Please keep my DH and I in your prayers and well wishes. I am a firm believer in the power of good energy and thoughts.

Thanks for listening everyone!

Krissy,
I'm a new podcast listener and I know we have never met. I wanted to share with you some encouraging news.
I work for cardiologists (have off/on for 15 years). With the meds and stress reduction this is VERY treatable. I am always amazed when I see images of a heart that technically is 'poorly' functioning and how WELL people do. This was, although it may not feel like it right now, a blessing. He didn't have a stroke, they got the BP under control, he is HOME with you now.
Take care:hug:
Michelle

I hope your husband gets well very soon. May I suggest you start planning a trip to walt Disney world as soon as possible. That always helps me to destress.

Hi Krissy --
I'm sorry you're going through this right now. But try to think positive...things will get better!!! Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Krissy, sending loads of prayers, pixie dust and postive thoughts your way.
I too believe in the power of being surrounded by positive thoughts and support from a circle of friends. pixiedust::grouphug:

 I too have been a cardiology nurse for years, I even ran a heartfailure program for a few years. This is totally treatable with diet and meds. I had many success stories when I ran my program years ago. Listen to the docs and stick with the behavior modification and meds. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Huge hug. I have just been through a similar situation in the last few months. I was a mess too and how can you not when it is someone who means so much to you. Sounds like he has a great support system in you.

My father just had heart surgery to repair damage and I was a stress sponge trying to minimize my mom and dads stress. Please take some time alone to destress yourself. I eventually had a mini melt down when it was over because I tend to keep things bottled in and deny the fact it is effecting me.
As a note because he listened to the doctors and had a very positive outlook despite the anxious time he was out earlier and surpassed the expectations.

Lots of prayers and pixie dust for you and your DH. I hope you guys have a blast on your vacation!

Becky
