The Most Relaxing Place on Earth! 1/23, Day 8: Last Day!

You have a very cute family.:)

Thank you!:goodvibes

Ahh a Clash fan! Lol, great TR so far!

Thank you! More coming up later today.

Oh, I can't believe the ordeal between the alarm and the noisy neighbors! Poor A. having her sleep disrupted like that!

The pictures with the Playhouse Disney characters and Donald are super cute! I am glad to see A. smiling despite being tired!

Yes, it was crazy. We flew in early so we could be rested and then all that hapened. Oh well, it was still a good day.

Yikes about the alarm clock. I am impressed that Rob and A were that quiet. Doug would have woken me up too I bet.

Good for you for staying relaxed about rope drop.... wonder how Sci- Fi went now...

Love the character pics and I can only imagine Luke at WDW as I watch B.

Loved hearing about the day!

Ahh... the world before HSM! It was on here tonight. Hannah so loves it, Em likes it. Just wait!

Yes, Rob is good like that. :goodvibes

I was determined to not stress this trip, it worked on the morning of Day 1.

Yes, my nieces LOVE HSM, but A. isn't interested. Lucky me I guess.

I love this pic!!! :goodvibes

Sounds like a great start to the day--minus the poor sleep for your DH and A.! Relaxed, yet you were getting a lot done, can't beat that. :thumbsup2 Playhouse Disney Live is such a blast, isn't it? Henry SHRIEKED when the bubbles came...ahhh, so much fun!!

Thanks! Rob and I were talking about where to go next and A. said, "Step 1, look at the map." :rotfl: Then she took it out and looked at the back of it!:rotfl:

Playhouse is really a great attraction for the little crew!

How horrible about the alarm and the loud neighbors! That's great that "A" got to see so many characters! Uh oh about your dinner...

Denise

I know! You can bet the first thing I did at SSR was check that dang alarm!

More coming up about lunch!

sorry about the alarm that stinks :( The last place I lived at in FL was a condo rental community and the unit beside where we lived was a rental and I can't tell you how many times the alarm clock in the master bedroom that was back to back with my room went off and no one was there renting :( Thankfully a lady who lived below cared for the unit and we would just let her know and she would unlock the unit and turn off the alarm. I had learned to turn on the fan in the bathroom to drown our the sound!!!

Seeing those popcorn buckets makes me want POPCORN!!!!

Oh, that really stinks! That would annoy me, but I'm glad you learned a trick to drowning out the sound.

We had our share of popcorn! :)

I can't believe I forgot to respond to your last post, I know I read it. :headache:

I love the picture of A reading the map, future DISer for sure!

It's so great that you got to meet so many characters.

Yes, she is turning into quite the Disney planner. "Mom, on our next trip I want to ride the BIG ride." (BTMR)

So, at this point it was around 11:20 or so. Our ADR for Sci Fi was not until 12:25, so we decided to try Muppet Vision 3D. For once, B. was quite content in his stroller so Rob took one for the team and walked B. around so we could enjoy the show.

We were lucky and the show was just starting when we walked in. The last time we watched this show A. freaked in the middle of it and we had to run out, quickly. So, I was ready for anything. She really enjoyed the show until it got to the part where the shoot the cannon. Then she got the worried look. I took her on my lap and all way well.

Our boys were waiting for us at the exit and we all decided that we were hungry, now. B. was making well known that he was starving by screaming VERY loudly and signing "More". We had only eaten a stale pretzel (shared by the 4 of us), so we decided to see if we could get in SciFi early for our 12:25 ADR. It was around 11:40.

We walked over there and I very kindly asked if we could get seated early. The hostess looked at the list and said "I'm sorry, we are really busy today." I told he we would take anything, we were desperate (I didn't say that part, but I was ready to!). She takes another look and says, "Okay, I think we can squeeze you in." I was so relieved and so were these guys!

WDWHSDay1076.jpg

(Don't let that smiling face fool you! He was a real pill at this point.)

We were quickly seated in our blue car and started to look at the menus.
WDWHSDay1077.jpg

We requested a high chair and they brought us one...without a tray. :headache: We asked for the top tray and the waiter said they "were out". What? Out? Once again my wonderful husband took one for the team and took the backseat with B. Well, B. was in a tray-less high chair which meant that Rob would have to feed him each bite and hold his drink=nightmare.

Rob told me not to worry, just relax and enjoy. So, we ordered shakes, vanilla cokes, and our meals.
A. Chicken Nuggets (shared with B.)
Me. Beef and Blue Salad
Rob. The Reuben

Our meal was a 6 out of 10. Nothing fabulous, but nothing horrible. The service was really slow! Our waiter was nice and brought us out SciFi Cups with caramel popcorn inside as a gift (is this given to everyone?). So that was nice.

We paid the bill and headed out. At this point it was around 1 o'clock. Should we stay 1.5 hours and ride TSMM and then not to EMH or go back to the hotel, rest, and then stay for EMH. As we were walking trying to decide we looked down and saw this:
WDWHSDay1078.jpg

So, our decision was made. It would be pointless to go back to the hotel now because B. would be up and would not fall back to sleep. Plus we still hadn't gotten a text saying our room was ready and I had forgotten the card in the car with the number on it to call.

I decided to walk around with B. to ensure he would fall asleep and Rob and A. headed to Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure. Now is a good time to tell you that A. is obsessed with playgrounds. I swear she can spot a playground from 100 yards. We'll be driving and I'll hear "PLAYGROUND!!!" out of no where. So, she was in heaven. Rob called me to say that it was crazy, hot, and he hated it about 5 minutes in, but it would be impossible to get her out of there. We decided that he would stay and play until B. woke up. He's a saint, I tell 'ya!

B. slept for a VERY short 45 minutes.
WDWHSDay1082.jpg

I called Rob to let him know. B. and I enjoyed a Kashi bar, and headed over to meet a friend...
WDWHSDay1085.jpg

It was funny because Mike kept trying to get B.'s attention but he wouldn't even look that way!

As we were walking out we ran into A. and Rob and of course A. wanted to meet Mike, so back we went.
WDWHSDay1086.jpg

Of course now that B. saw A. doing it, he had to do it. He had to meet Mike.
WDWHSDay1088.jpg

Now it was around 2 and we were counting down the seconds until 2:30 so we could ride TSMM and get the heck out of dodge. A. enjoyed her own Kashi bar and we waited, and walked, and waited. Around this time Rob said "this better be a good ride."

It was finally time so we went and turned in our fastpasses. After a very short wait it was our turn! What a great ride!!
WDWHSDay1101.jpg

We wanted to ride again, but the wait was 90 minutes, ummmm....no thanks!

So we headed out of the park.
(Continued)

When we got in the car I called SSR and our room was ready!!! We were in the....

We had an AWESOME room! 8507. Ground floor, corner, golf course view, closest building to the Carriage House. Right next to the pool. We couldn't have picked a better room.

I called and had our cold items delivered. I swear they were so quick. It was like 3 minutes.
WDWHSDay1110.jpg

Can I just say that we LOVE having a 1-bedroom. Having the extra space is SOOOO nice. The ability to put on kid in one room to nap and the other in another was worth the extra money (more on that later). I also loved having the kitchen.

At this point it was around 4 and we needed to decide if we wanted to head back to HS for EMH or just stay and relax and enjoy this view.
WDWHSDay1105.jpg

It wasn't a hard decision, we stayed.:rotfl: I headed over the Carriage House to get us some dinner and to put it lightly I was underwhelmed with the choices. I called Rob and told him the selections and he said "Eh, what are you going to get?" I said "I'll take A. to get EOS if you'll watch B." He was in!

So, I went and got A. and we headed to the Boat Dock. We were lucky again, and the boat pulled up right as we were walking down the ramp.

DTD was empty, but EOS was FULL!! We got in line and I prepped A. for a long wait. The line moves quickly in that place though and before I know it, our order was placed:

A. PB&J
Me. Club
Rob. Italian

We waited just a few minutes and our food was ready. We headed back to the boat dock and this is where it got bad. It had cooled off a lot and was windy on the water. Did you know there is no direct boat back to SSR? Yeah, I didn't know that either. So, we took a boat to Pleasure Island, waited. Took a boat to SSR. It took us ONE HOUR to get back. Yes, folks, ONE HOUR. At this point, our sandwiches were cold and we were FROZEN.

We walked to the quick walk back to the room and Rob said he was ready to send out a search party. He had already put B. to bed and wondered if our boat had sank.

We ate our sandwiches, well, inhaled would be a better word. They were so good and we were so hungry!

We got A. ready for bed, set up the little tv (DVD player), pulled out the "couch bed" as she called it, and watched a little TV. Well, I sat out on patio and watched the boats go by and enjoyed the view.

A. was asleep quickly. Rob and I talked about our day at Animal Kingdom the next day. To rope drop or not rope drop? We decided to leave it up to our human alarm clocks and decided not to worry about it.

Overall, it was a good day. HS is our least favorite park, but we love the Playhouse Disney show so we suck it up and go there for that. We loved TSMM and could have rode that ride all day long.

Coming up Next: Hurry UP! Follow ME!

So fun! I am drooling over the size of the 1 bedroom....we are going to go nuts in a studio next summer I have a feeling.

Cute pics with B. He is just a doll, but I so know what a stinker they can be.

EOS is so great... but an hour to get back to SSR- yikes!

I'm so glad you were able to ride TSM! WOO HOO! :thumbsup2 Isn't it awesome? I just love it.

Good to know there is no direct boat back to SSR. What a stinker.

I'm happy you decided to stay put and relax AND use your human alarm clocks. So far the relaxing seems to be happening! :thumbsup2

Great trip report:thumbsup2 Your kids are adorable. Can't wait to read more!

It is nice you got to ride TSM, it is a great ride! We didn't get to the park early enough to get fastpasses this time, but rode it last Nov. & April.

Is sounds like you had great rooms at SSR! It was about a 10 minute to get to the main pool last November when we stayed there. I enjoyed SSR better than OKW though. They do not have elevators at OKW (in our section anyway). It was a pain to walk up and down the stair with stollers and kids. We also have always stayed in a studio. I would like to stay in a one bedroom next time, but it would mean we couldn't go to WDW as much. I think it might be worth it to stay in a one bedroom though.:)

He he he! Love the pics with Mike!

I am in awe of all the room you had at SSR!!! I would love to stay DVC sometime!

Hey dreagirl :goodvibes

Aha! So this is why you haven't been on the J&K thread! We returned from our trip too but man oh man was it hot and humid the whole 9 days!! We nearly killed my father-in-law dragging him around Disney in 90degree weather!

Anywho, your little kiddos are beyond adorable. I'm loving your TR and looking forward to reading the rest! So glad you all had a good time. :thumbsup2 Are you planning your next trip yet?? Ssssh, I am! Don't tell my DH! :lmao:

Sorry you were disappointed with your Sci-Fi meal, but I'm glad you loved TSMM! Wow, your room at SSR was awesome!!! Oh my gosh, it took a long time to get back from DTD...you must have been starving!

Yes, we know we are now very spoiled. The size is just so wonderful!

Thanks, it's a good thing he is cute because he was a stinker!!

If I would have known about the boat, we would have walked.

Yes, we were really just relaxing and enjoying ourselves. We loved our room so much at SSR!

Oh, that stinks! That ride is so fun. I wish they would figure out a way to distribute fast passes throughout the day though!

Yes, we love the one bedroom. We have even talked about staying off-site in order to have the space that is how much we loved it.

He he he! Love the pics with Mike!

I am in awe of all the room you had at SSR!!! I would love to stay DVC sometime!
Yes, our fellow Polish guy Mike! B. just couldn't figure him out!

We rented points this time and I would do that again in a heartbeat!

Yes, I've decided to leave that thread. I'm on Jon and Kate overload! Glad you are here though!

How was your trip?!

Of course I'm planning my next trip! Rob on the other hand says no trip until 2011....:sad2:

Sorry you were disappointed with your Sci-Fi meal, but I'm glad you loved TSMM! Wow, your room at SSR was awesome!!! Oh my gosh, it took a long time to get back from DTD...you must have been starving!

It wasn't that we were disappointed, it just wasn't outstanding. I think if B. was big enough to sit in the car with us it would have been a lot easier. We did love the "drive-in" feel though. That was really cool!

Sorry I've been such a bad trip reporter! I've been going through a bit of the Disney blues. You know the feeling?

I was hoping to get a "girl's trip" in with A. sometime after New Years, but it doesn't look like we are going to be able to swing it. :sad2: So, it finally set in that we really wouldn't be back until 2011. :guilty:

I'm working on the next update and should have it up very soon! Thanks for hanging in there with me.

I think all of us can understand the Disney Blues! Sometimes the best medicine (short of booking another trip) is writing about the one you just got back from. :goodvibes

I completely understand! On our drive home I was so melancholy. DH just does not share my enthusiam for Disney. I'd love to do a mother/daughter trip too but I just don't see that happening anytime soon. This past trip was kind of different since I felt like a tour guide...I'd planned our whole trip for my in-laws and my family. They were constantly asking me questions about what we're doing next, when are we eating, yada yada yada. While I always love going to Disney, this particular trip felt more like work! Isn't that funny? Still, everyone had a great time. :thumbsup2

As far as beating the Disney blues, I think your trip report will help you! Do you scrapbook? That's always a good way to keep the trip alive too! Plus your little ones will be even older which will make the trip more relaxing and fun for all of you. Another good thing about Disney is that there's always more to see. All the more reason to go back, right?

Looking forward to your next update!:goodvibes

I know how you feel about Disney blues. I don't think we will be going back till April or May 2011. It feels like such a long time!

An hour?! Holy cow, that's awful!!! We only did the boat once from DTD - it went directly to SSR - then over to OKW....so I wonder if they changed it??? Ugh. What a pain!

Otherwise, sounds like a GREAT day! You have an all-star DH for dealing with lunch at Sci Fi AND the park. I laughed out loud about A. being able to spot a playground from anywhere - Henry is like that too, "SLIDE!" and Joe and I are like, "Where? Huh?!" :rotfl:

I'm with ya on the Disney Blues. I'm ITCHING for our trip! And I am pretty certain it will be a whole year before we get to go back, so I'm going to get into the rut I'm sure next year. :sad2:

\
Thanks! Rob and I were talking about where to go next and A. said, "Step 1, look at the map." :rotfl: Then she took it out and looked at the back of it!:rotfl:

This is ADORABLE!!!! :lmao: I love it!

SSR is so pretty! You really lucked out on your room :thumbsup2

Your little ones are so adorable - what a fun age to take to Disney (my DD & GS joined me in December 2008 for 4 days and he was 14 mos old. Loved seeing his face on his first ride IASW.)

How weird that SciFi didn't have the tray for the high chair :confused3 I've always wondered how a restaurant can not have enough trays for the chairs but it's happened tons of time with my kids growing up.

Great TR. I am really enjoying reading it. My darling angels (lol) are now 21 and 15 so I enjoy reading about the enjoyment of the little ones.

Lucy
