Finally caught up on your trip report. I am loving it. It makes me want to go for F&W Festival and the Halloween party. We have been to the Christmas party and that was fun but the costumes and vilians seem like such a neat experience.

Congrats on the DCP! I am so excited to hear all about it and live vicariously through you! (I "followed" you on twitter today so I can keep up) BTW I am LOVING the live updates. You are so lucky to be in Disney for NYE! One day when my kids are grown DH & I will make that trip too!

I hope you enjoyed your stay at the Beach Club! That is the hotel we stayed at on the trip my parents joined DVC. I love the walk to two parks, Stormalong Bay, Beaches and Cream and it will always be one of my favorites! I haven't stayed at the Yacht Club yet, but it's definitely one I want to stay at someday.

Just got back from my Christmas-New Years trip at Bay Lake Tower and it was probably one of my most magical trips ever! Hope you had an incredibly magical trip!!!

Can't wait to hear about your college program adventures! Applications come out soon for Fall and concierge is one of my top choices. There doesn't seem to be much info about concierge so I'd love to read more about your experiences! Besides an ongoing trip report, a blog might be an easier way to share your experiences.

Hi Jess! I really enjoy every frumpy moment of your trip reports and needed to stop lurking to send you congratulations on your DCP acceptance. It is going to be such an exciting time and your effervescent love of Disney will certainly add to the sparkle of the Happiest Place on earth! Have a wonderful vacation at the Beach Club. We stayed there for the first time at the end of August, after years of just dreaming about it. All I can say is my family will have to drag me kicking and screaming to any other resort. But I look forward to hearing your impressions so please keep us posted!

Sounds like you are going to have an awesome trip! I leave a week from tomorrow and I am SO excited!!!! I just started packing today, and trying to fit my life into two 50 pound-limit suitcases is a lot harder then I thought it would be! I can't wait to order some of the magical ribbon hair bows! Every time I've tried to order she was closed, so I have to keep checking! I'm sure we'll see each other around the apartments/parks at some point! Are you taking any of the Disney classes? I'm doing the Disney Heritage on Monday's!

I am IN LOVE with Yacht and Beach Club. They are my top favorite resorts. We had an incredible time and all of those facilities were just wonderful!

Chapter 13: Our First Visit to Art of Animation! (Part 1)
October 7th, 2012

We got in line to meet Daisy and Minnie and GUESS who was working!? Crushinat0r! It's so funny that we ran into him twice on this trip! We were really excited to see each other again!

Daisy and Minnie were absolutely ADORABLE and it was so much fun to meet them both!

Minnie and Daisy are definitely the princesses their crew!

After saying our hellos and goodbyes, we went back to old Fantasyland and got an iced mocha at Cheshire Cafe. I seriously needed that - I was so tired! I don't drink coffee because I don't like the taste, but Disney iced mochas taste SUPER good. And they offer me beautiful caffeine. So it's a win win.

After that we used our surprise fastpasses for PhilharMagic! There was a VIP tour guide in there and I decided that would be an INCREDIBLE job for me. Showing people around WDW is my favorite thing to do! Maybe someday! I'll have to work my way up there.

We went into PhilharMagic and I was an emotional MESS. I don't know why but when I saw the kids grabbing the jewels during "Part of Your World" I just cried. I was so overwhelmed with love of Disney. That show is perfection and it always brings me a huge rush of joy. PhilharMagic includes all of my childhood classics and I am completely absorbed in the stories when I watch this thing. It's just so wonderful. The Peter Pan and Aladdin scenes left tears streaming down my face.

I have seen this show probably 30 times. AND IT DOESN'T GET OLD. I'm tellin' ya. I don't know how Disney does it.

After that we went on Peter Pan's Flight and it was beautiful, as always. That ride just contains timeless magic.

Next we went in Sir Mickey's and Castle Couture. In Castle Couture, the cast members LOVED my park map bow. There were like 5 of them crowded around me looking at it and asking where I got it.

I also got sprinkled with pixie dust in there! I love when that happens!!

Then in Sir Mickey's I found the most BEAUTIFUL Little Mermaid scarf. It's New Fantasyland merchandise and I knew I had to get it the second I saw it! I don't have a picture but it's purple, green, and blue and has Ariel on it. PERFECTION. It perfectly matched my coat at home, too!

Once I bought my scarf, I got a text from Miranda saying she was at Magic Kingdom waiting to meet up with us! We found her and chatted about what we were going to do next!

Miranda suggested Art of Animation for lunch and we thought that was the PERFECT idea.

We were going to ride the PeopleMover before we left, but the line was too long. (shocking, I know!) So we decided to head out of the park!

Bye Magic Kingdom! See ya later!

We left Magic Kingdom and drove to Cast Connections, which is the cast member gift shop! This is where cast members can buy discounted park merchandise that isn't up to Disney standards to be sold in the parks. If the wrapping on a package gets damaged, the item was limited edition, etc. it gets sold here at a very discounted price!

Miranda was allowed to bring us as guests and I was in HEAVEN!

I got some food pins, a giant monorail/tinkerbell pin, and Up castle shirt, and a Toy Story shirt! Mom got some plates and a phone case! Everything was so incredibly cheap!

Then we drove to Art of Animation.

I FLIPPED OUT when I saw it!!

I have never been so blown away by a resort before. I was absolutely AMAZED!

Ready for a tour?

We walked up closer to the main building. The way they pieced together this resort was brilliant. I love how they added the sketches in, had larger than life characters all around, and just tied in all of the details of our favorite movies! What we have seen on screen completely comes to life at this resort!

It was time to go inside! The sketches on this main wall grow chronologically from the very early sketching stages to the characters we know and love!

I loved how they finally did a completely Disney themed Disney resort. The details were absolutely phenomenal!

Chapter 14: Our First Visit to Art of Animation! (Part 2)
October 7th, 2012

I was SO in awe of this place. I couldn't stop saying "Oh my God! Oh my God. OH MY GOD!!" as I was walking around. The resort had such a fresh and modern feel to it. Disney is doing WONDERFUL things with everything that has been opening up lately.

EVEN THE BATHROOM WAS PERFECT.

It was finally time to eat. ART OF ANIMATION HAS THE MOST AMAZING FOOD COURT EVER. It is called Landscape of Flavors. Seriously guys, it is worth going over there just to eat. There are SO many different food stations and options that even the most picky eater will find PLENTY of foods that appeal to them!

I took pictures of the dessert cases because that's the most important part, obviously.

I decided to get a chicken burger which had lots of fancy stuff like black bean relish and queso fresco on it. It was SO GOOD. I have never had anything like that before! Usually I like plain burgers with ketchup and mustard, but this was so unique and delicious! I completely loved it and plan on getting it again!

Mom got the create your own pasta with corkscrew pasta, petso, garlic, mushrooms, peppers, and sun-dried tomatoes. What an amazing combination!! Way to go, Mom! I had some and it was GREAT.

Miranda got pasta with red sauce and shrimp! It was also really yummy!

This is definitely going to be a place for me to stop when I am on my DCP and looking for a good, quick meal. Everything is WONDERFUL. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

We had some Mickey coconut patties for dessert that we bought at Cast Connections. There were my first ones ever and WOW they were amazing!! What a hidden gem!

Once we were full it was time to EXPLORE!

We started in the Cars section which is farthest to your right when looking at the resort from the food court. The Art of Animation resort layout is in a completely straight line. You walk through and are transitioned into each section as you go!

Did you know that Carsland in Disneyland and the Cars section in AoA had simultaneous opening dates? HOW CUTE!

The theming in this section was great! Cars is one of those "meh" movies for me, but I honestly would not mind staying here at all! It was SO gorgeous and it actually made me appreciate the movie even more. Any little boy would absolutely FLIP if he got to stay here! If you have a big Cars fan in the family... he/she would LOVE THIS.

Mater is definitely my favorite car!

More cars! Seriously, this section could not be more accurate and detailed! Like... Luigi's House of Tires!?! LOVE IT!

Chapter 15: Our First Visit to Art of Animation! (Part 3)
October 7th, 2012

IT'S THE EAST AUSTRALIAN CURRENT, DUDE!

Not only is the Finding Nemo section themed after one of the most spectacular movies of all time, but it is connected to the main building/food court and has an AWESOME pool. Overall it just makes me so happy. When I stay here eventually, this will be my number one choice!

Next up is Lion King!

This is the only section without a pool, but that does not mean it's any less great! (plus you are just steps away from the Finding Nemo or Little Mermaid pools on either end. So really, you're not missing anything if you stay here!)

The big characters were ADORABLE and it was just amazing to feel like you were walking right through the movie!

Hello there, Scar.

Last was the Little Mermaid which was all your way down to the left. This section is the farthest from the main area but it is the only one with your typical studio rooms. The other three sections are all family suites. It really isn't that long of a walk though so DON'T WORRY! Everything is in very close proximity here!

A LIFE SIZED DINGLE-HOPPER!!

Miranda hadn't even seen this section yet because it wasn't open the last time she visited! It was BEAUTIFUL!

If I had visited this place when I was 5 years old and OBSESSED with Little Mermaid, I would have had sensory overload and been the happiest kid on the planet. Even at age 19 I was jumping around like a child and pointing out all of the details from one of my top favorite movies of all time. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!

UNDER THE SEA!

Here's the pool:

After the Little Mermaid section we went into the wonderful gift shop. There was a trivia question in there and it asked "What 4 non-pixar Disney films didn't feature any humans?"

Any guesses?

The answers were: Lion King, Bambi, Robin Hood, and Chicken Little!

That was a tricky one! Chicken Little didn't even cross my mind!

They sell the shower curtains that they use in the resort rooms and they are SO BEAUTIFUL. Except they cost $99. Even with a cast member holiday discount that is a big chunk of cash. Sadness. I wanted the Little Mermaid one!

Here is the check-in desk. WOW, WOW, WOW!

Even the floors are awesome!!

We walked towards the exit and saw a sketch artist drawing alien Stitch on the screen! We went over to watch and Miranda said, "Oh, Stitch is my favorite!!" So the animator asked if she liked alien or dog Stitch better. She said dog Stitch, of course!

So the animator took off the drawing he was working on and started drawing dog Stitch! He finished it in about 3 minutes!

He asked Miranda about her DCP while he was drawing. He said that he used to work on Sunset Boulevard, too! He asked about her school and she said she was hoping to transfer to UCF!

So then he finished the Stitch drawing and asked her what her name was. She told him and then he wrote "To: Miranda From: Jason" on the picture! He also drew a little speech bubble saying "Go Knights!" right above Stitch! Miranda didn't know he was going to give it to her because those usually cost a lot of money, so it was such a great surprise! What a magical moment!! She was so happy!

I've always thought that being one of the Tour Guides (either for VIPs or the official Disney tours) has to be one of the best jobs on property. One of my good friends actually was a tour guide for Epcot when she worked for Disney! She started out in the DCP, and then worked for the mouse full time for a few years after college. You should follow her on Twitter if you don't already (@krissymmurphy), I'm sure she'd be willing to talk with you about the role and her transition from DCP to full employee!

PhilharMagic ALWAYS makes me cry too! It's my childhood flashing before my eyes.

If you want to take me on a tour of Cast Connection when we hang out, I won't be mad. I also know the Up MK Castle shirt you're talking about and I LOVE it.

Disney - the one place where it's actually semi-acceptable and expected to take pictures of the bathroom.

Really hope I have the time to check out Art of Animation! The lobby is probably the closest I'm ever going to get again to walking through my beloved Imagination Pavilion Rainbow Tunnel. It is my mission to convince my husband we have to stay in a Little Mermaid room.

AoA looks soooo amazing, I just don't know if I could even choose what section to stay in because I really adore Lion King, Little Mermaid, and Finding Nemo!! But if I'm being realistic, if we ever did stay there, we would end up in the Cars section because DS is obsessed with those movies! Lightning & Mater travel with us pretty much everywhere. At the very least, your pictures have convinced me we need to take a little time out of park touring to go check it out next trip. DS will love seeing all the cars, not just Lightning & Mater than you can see in DHS. He now yells out, "Sally!" when she comes on the screen!

Oh yeah, and that's pretty cool about getting to visit that CM store! I didn't know such a thing existed. And now you will get to visit it all the time! Jealous!!!
