The Most Grateful Mother in the World

Yes, I agree (as well as my DH) that Disney went above and beyond the call of duty to help us. My family and friends can't believe we would want to go back to a place that holds such a memory for us. I can't imagine vacationing anywhere else that would have responded in such a superb manner!

I feel safer vacationing there than I did prior to the accident.

I hope you all take that away from my story also. Horrific things happen everywhere, it's good to know you are in a place that is prepared to deal with them in a safe and efficent manner.

What a horrifying experience! I am sitting here at 1 am bawling like a baby. thanking the Lord that your beautiful son is okay. I can't imagine what that must have been like for you. Thank you for sharing. Your story certainly puts things in perspective.

Awwww CDRN, don't cry.

This post was meant to share a terrible experince that turned enlightening. For me anyway...I learned how much may family means to me, and how little everything else does.

I also learned that most people want to do the right thing, particularly in bad circumstances.

I came out of it a much joyful person than I was before, and for that I am very grateful!

:sad1:

I will, at this moment, stop stressing and anticipating and start living and appreciating every moment with my children. Am I glad to be going? Yes but don't want to forget what is important, us being together.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is powerful and has a healing quality.

Our prayers are for your son to reach 100% recovery.

I'm so glad to hear that he was ok. But whatever happened with/to the driver of the car?

I too have tears in my eyes. I am so glad to hear that he is doing fine. I will say a prayer for your family, hoping his recovery continues to go so well.

((((Hugs to you and your family))))

I am so glad that your little boy is ok. What a horrible thing. How are your older kids doing now?

OMG I am just sitting here crying over this post! I am so sorry that your son was injured. What a stressful situation for you and your family on your vacation. It just makes me stop to think how we sometimes get so distracted from the truly important people and things that make one's life so special. I'm just glad your son is on the road to recovery and you and your family has come out of all of this stronger.
BTW Deide71, I think you writing this post has been heartwarming and thought provoking to me. Thank you for sharing.

I also got to let you know when I read the title to this post I thought you were a Deadhead (Grateful Dead Fan). I was thinking to myself, "I'd love to read how a Deadhead - current or former - now raising a family enjoyed WDW." :hippie: I thought they would give an earth-loving yeas or nays on the various rides and aspects of WDW! Boy eas I wrong!:rotfl: Peace out.

You know, I have no idea???

I never spoke to the man driving the car (too focused on my son I guess). But he did stop. I hope he knows my son is fine now. Perhaps I should send him a letter (I have his name and address on the police report).

I also wonder about all of the people who witnessed the accident. I am sure it shook them up quite a bit. I hope they all know that my son is fine now, and I hope it didn't put a horrible cloud on anyone's vacation.

My other 2 kids were very shaken at the sight of seeing their brother hurt so badly. My DD7 was sobbing and started to vomit and retch at the scene she was so upset. My 3 year old really didn't understand what was happening, so I guess that is a blessing. Disney helped take the sting out for them as much as they could though.

I can't reiterate enough how awesome they were! I've had friends and family tell me they thought Disney acted that way because they didn't want to have bad publicity or get sued. Sued for what, a tragic accident that happened on their property, but they were not at fault for? Some people will take advantage of any situation I guess. I'm not one of them.

I just so thrilled to have my sweet baby home with me so I can kiss him, cuddle him, love him. I'm a very lucky woman!

Oh my gosh, it must have been a reaaly scary experience for you and your family! I'm so glad your son is doing so well and recovering. It's nice to know that even during something so shocking, Disney made things much easier for you. best wishes to you and your family:goodvibes :grouphug:

Wow! I am so glad your story turned out okay. It moved me to tears, also. Makes me appreciate what I've got more.

Oh Deide....I am so happy that your son is all right. I am crying tears of joy for you - God is truly merciful.

We lost our older son to cancer when he was five and....oh, hold your son close!!!

Thank you so much for your kind wishes.

I am so sorry about your dear son. You must have amazing strength to have lived through such a sorrowful thing. I have so much respect and awe for parents that have delt with a tragedy such as yours.

See you at Disney in Spetember....we booked a trip 9/22-9/30 as our make-up. Her's hoping for a magical time!

That is a VERY busy intersection; I remember it well.

How awesome for Disney to send somebody with you to help with the other two at the hospital. It's the unexpected extras that are appreciated the most.
