The most famous person to stay at the Grand Floridian?

I would go with Princess Di and her sons. I was there at the same time as them. I'm pretty sure they went in the parks during regular times and just had tons of security.

The normal anwer to a question like this is Mickey Mouse. I'd agree Princess Di probably is the best answer.

How can they go on vacation to WDW and not be recognised ??Do they open the parks at night for them ?

They might open the parks very early for them. This is a guess, but when we went to MK large sections were roped off longer than usual. I had a running joke with my family that day about the president going on all the rides (what did he think of the log ride? I wonder if he liked the magic carpets? :rotfl2: ) Though we were joking because I really have no idea if that's why they kept those lands roped off so late that morning--just seemed coincidental that Bush also happened to be at the GF. I know they keep those lands roped off later than the main street area normally in the morning, but this it was later than usual, that's why we got to wondering.

I read on a post somewhere that someone actually saw him at Epcot (but I think on a different trip). :confused3

They would not do that for anyone, unless they were willing to pay for it. Could you Imagine the cost of having the park operation and staffed for even just an extra hour.

YEARS ago when we went a cast member told us that they closed down Splash Mountain for Micheal Jackson to ride it. I've never heard of more than that though so i don't know.

I know when we were there in the late 80s/early 90s, Princess Di was there when we were there. Everywhere we went, my mom and grandmother kept saying, "Is that Princess Diana? Did you see her?" I guess it's a woman thing. I could care less about British royalty - I mean, really, what's the big deal?

Nevertheless, the answer's gotta be Princess Di.

Please don't say Britney Spears :sad2:

I think Elvis was no longer with us when the GF was built. Am I wrong?

On our recent stay at the WL, we had the President of Panama staying across from us. It was a bit of a PITA with all the security lurking outside our room for three days! It felt like we had no privacy. But still kind of neat to see him at the Concierge table.

I know that Elvis died August 16th,1977 and the GF was built in 1988. So the odds of him staying there would be slim. :rotfl:

What?!? :scared1: Elvis is dead! :earseek: Oh my gosh! All these years...I never knew. :p I know he likes to hang around at Vegas. :teeth:

princess: Princess Diana gets my vote hands-down. She a REAL princess!!!

When we stayed there once, our bell-hop said that Lorne Michaels had just checked out of the room we were checking in to.

I don't know who this is? :goodvibes

When are we going to get the answer? :confused3

The Grand is known to have been host to many famous people, including movie stars, pop singers, political dignitaries, TV personalities, authors, and foreign dignitaries. Since "famous" is such a subjective term, I would say that MANY famous people have stayed at the Grand Floridian.

As for getting around the parks... you wouldn't recognize many of these people when they dress down and wear no make up. They can pretty much throw on jeans, a tee shirt and a baseball hat with sunglasses and be right next to you in line and you might never know!

I know Oprah has stayed there... a CM told me that she had all kinds of special requests for her dogs. ;)

I've also heard from a CM that Micheal Jackson stays at the Dolphin quite regularly. The CMs even call it the Micheal Jackson suite now. ;)

I think Princess Di is a good guess... I'll go with that.

What about good ole' Walt himself? I love how they still have his apartment (in Disneyland, above the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) available to look at.

How could he have done that? Walt died in December 1966 and Disneyworld didn't open until October 1971. :confused3 With the GF opening in 1988 maybe Walt stayed in the Oprah suite and shared it with Elvis, John Wayne, and Jim Morrison of the Doors! LOL! Because according to urban legend those people never died they were either frozen or disappeared to live normal lives. :rotfl:

LOL, Ok. Sorry I didn't know Walt died before GF opened (or WDW opened, for that matter). It was a wild guess. :goodvibes

So do celebrities get to have their dogs in their rooms, or do they stay at the kennel with everyone else's dogs??

Ron Jeremy? ;)

BTW, I've read that when ever a serious celebrity visits the MK, they're limo'd into the northside utilidoor entrance, then enter the park thru whichever stairway is closest to the attraction/ride that they want to visit.
