We're planning to take our 3rd "Monorail Lounge Tour" in December. It's been a Disney tradition since the kids became adults and we've been our own. We normally begin at 6:30 P.M. with a stop at the Outer Rim, monorail to the Tambu Lounge, and finish up at Mizner's around 10:00 P.M. Luckily, the MVMCP is being held on the planned night of the tour, so we can watch "Wishes" from the Grand Floridian's boat dock. Has anyone got any drink suggestions (we've had a Lapu Lapu and a Yellow Monorail) and/or snack suggestions? Has anyone else taken the tour and have suggestions? Thanks.

At the Poly, ask for a Seven Seas. It's a great drink that used to be on the menu. The bartenders who have been there a long time all know how to make it. But if they don't know, they will look it up. Btw, we like to call it resort hopping. And we ended up at the bar at Narcossies (sp). Anyway you look at it, it's a fun way to spend the evening.;)

Sounds like a fun evening. Your monorail captain is the designated driver:D :earsboy:

What an awesome idea.

Of course we'll have to wait until the kids grow up. But I'm in no hurry for that. It is good to know that as they do grow up there are new fun things to do;)

Actually we drank around the monorail with a group of Disers in Dec and there were a few kids with us. They did "Arcades around the monorail", visiting the arcades while the adults had their drinks. Since children are allowed in the lounges, it didnt present a problem and a great time was had by all. ;)

In fact we plan to take my mother on a drink around the monorail tour tomorrow after our arrival lunch. We have also ordered the white chocolate Cinderallas Slipper to surprise my DM with at the GF. :D

My group ALWAYS does the Monorail around the world. I see yo u've discovered Yellow Monorails (yum). While at Mizner's, order a Glen Livet scotch; it's a nice way to end the evening. Not many people know this, but you can order food from Citricos at Mizners.

Just wondering, is this something Disney offers, or something you just do?

It's like drinks around the World Showcase. Just something fun to do.
Can someone please describe the monorail lounge choices - atmosphere, specialties, etc. We've toured these resorts but never drank there. We'd like to hit a few before our PS at CG.
Thanks!

Disney doesn't offer this tour. This is just something that we do. We're not really big drinkers, honestly, but it does make for a fun evening. During the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it also offers you the opportunity to see the decorations at each resort.

Here's the info on each of our stops. Of course, if you wish, you may make a side trip to the Territory Lounge at the Wilderness Lodge, but it's not on the monorail route.

"The Outer Rim Lounge” - A full-service bar with a large screen TV and a magnificent view. The Outer Rim is located on the 4th floor North Concourse, near the entrance to Chef Mickey’s, and overlooks Bay Lake. A menu of light snacks is available. The hours are 12:00 P.M. - Midnight. Try the "Yellow Monorail," it won't disappoint.

“The Tambu Lounge” – Located on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House, right next to 'Ohana, the Tambu Lounge offers a variety of Polynesian cocktails and snacks. The Tambu Lounge is open 1:00 P.M. to Midnight. Appetizers are available from 5:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. Try the “Lapu Lapu” and/or The "Backscratcher.”

“Mizner’s” - This lounge is named for Addison Mizner, a self-taught, eccentric turn-of-the-century Palm Beach architect who was a stickler for perfection and a key figure in Boca Raton history. The elegant lounge sits on the second floor, behind the hotel's orchestra, and offers views of Disney's Magic Kingdom. Mizner’s stays open until midnight.

Enjoy!

Would someone describe a "Yellow Monorail"? This sounds like something I MUST try.

Thanks,

Barbe

PS: I love Back Scratchers at the Tambu. Best thing about the Tambu is the drinks get stronger with each re-order, not weaker.

The "Yellow Monorail" contains rum, bananas, grenadine, and a secret potion. :D

At the Tambu...I think you have to be a Bloody Mary fan to begin with but, I love the Wasabi Bloody Mary...nice and spicy...In all fairness my DGF thought it was disgusting...but I loved it. Kind of like a regular Bloody Mary with the kick of wasabi. If you like 'em, try one.
