We will be there 4/19 - FastPass available for everything except the Mine Train. I really want to head straight to Splash Mountain when we arrive (it has been closed on the past two trips, and we only have one MK day - I'm not taking any chances on my favorite ride in all of WDW - I have a FastPass for it too!!). We don't have young kids, and will stay until close (11). Can I assume it will be a walk on late in the evening? We haven't been to WDW since 2010.

My FastPass plan is Ariel, Splash Mt & Big Thunder Mt at this point. Thanks!

I was there early March and the mine train had at least a 2 hour wait. I had a FP and would only ride it with one. The ride is super fun but not worth the 2 hour wait in my opinion

I doubt it will be walk on, even later in the evening. It won't be as busy next week as it was this week, but I saw wait times still showing 45 minutes up until closing.

With that said I have seen Splash being a walk on many times in the evenings (not necessarily this last week, just in other visits).

Never was the Mine Train a 'walk on' in the two weeks we were there end of Feb. first of March (definitely not at busier times). We were able though to get two different FP's for it while we were there. Unlike some, we thought it was a very nice ride and worth checking for FP's often, but 'nothing' is worth a two hour wait to me! It's the only coaster I can ride - all the others have become too jerky for my neck. The SW7D is very smooth - aided by the gently swaying cars.

Added note - lots of things have changed since 2010!! Most IMO 'not' for the better!!

We're going to be there at the same time. The week is averaged at a 5 for crowd levels, so I took a look at historical level 5 crowds and the Mine Ride ALWAYS has at least a 45 minute wait but Splash is walk on quite often. I'd do Mine Ride if you don't want to wait in a line.

I agree. We were there last week and it was never a walk on--waits of 30 min just after RD to at least 90 minutes during the day. We couldn't get FP+ for it since we planned our trip 2.5 weeks out, so we arrived at 7:15am one morning so my ODS & ODD could ride standby (30 min) while I rode Peter Pan, Winnie and Carousel with YDS & YDD.

You may not need the Ariel FP. Waits are usually not bad. If the wait isn't too bad, I would have your phone handy and switch you fp to something with a longer wait.

I've only heard of one instance that 7DMT was a walk on. This was during Feb break. We were talking to another family at the resort. They had stayed for the evening EMH the night prior. It was a very late EMH, I think between 1am-3am. They claimed it was a walk on.

At that hour I would be crawling on! With my "blankie"!

We rode it twice in about a half hour one evening last summer. At 11:30 pm, the posted wait time was 80 minutes, but the actual wait was 20 the first time then 10 for the 2nd trip. The inflated wait time seems to scare off most guests.

Mine train won't be a walk on any time while you're at the park. However splash will be a walk on early in the day and at night, usually. Also, if you're interested in any other rides, I'd get rid of the Ariel fast pass. It's usually a walk on throughout the day.

Hit mine train at rope drop, or late at night. We prefer late at night.

Get in line 10 minutes before park closing. Even if the line has a long stand by wait time or just "looks" long it will move fast once the last FP+ person rides. Disney frequently inflates wait times or holds guests outside the interior line queue just before closing to discourage people from getting in line. Also, the mine train is better at night.
