We're thinking about trying to get a room at the Manhattan Club in New York through the new RCI exchanges. Has anyone stayed there or know enough about it to recommend it or not? I'd like to get personal opinions if possible before booking it.

Thanks in advance.

I stayed there almost three years ago through an RCI trade, using RCI Points. (I own a bunch of timeshares.) I had one of the one-bedroom, two-bathroom units. The location is excellent, excellent, excellent. The Manhattan Club is more like a hotel than a resort, without a whole lot of amenities. However, the rooms are very clean (there is daily housekeeping) and quite nice. My unit had a small kitchen -- I don't remember if there was stove, but there was a tiny dishwasher. And, did I mention that the location was excellent? ;)

Current RCI guests are charged a mandatory housekeeping fee if they stay at the Manhattan Club -- I don't know if that will apply to Disney guests or not. I believe the fee is $15 a day for a studio, or $25 for a one-bedroom.

I would guess that renting something comparable to the one-bedrooms, in as desirable a neighborhood in NYC, would cost upwards of $400 a night. So, the Manhattan Club may actually be cost-effective as a DVC trade, depending on the points and fee structure. In fact, I was just saying on another thread that the Manhattan Club was one of the very few RCI resorts that I would consider trading my DVC points for. (Although it would depend on the number of DVC points required, since I can still get the Manhattan Club with my RCI Points.)

Manhattan Club is very nice.....Couple of years ago they used to come around with special offers...99 a night:yay:

We would all fight for them:goodvibes Those stopped....I would definately trade into Manhattan club for a few nights.....I hope they do short stays.

I would love to stay there but have never been able to find a vacancy. I'm a
member of RCI and was on a waitlist for over a year and nothing ever opened up. One day....some day......:goodvibes

Must be a trading power issue because multiple sightings have been posted on TUG throughout the year

Agreed, provided your requested dates were flexible. The late summer/Fall 2009 weeks were there for several days running. Any ongoing search with sufficient trade power for that period would have been satisfied.

I asked about Manhattan Club on an RCI thread earlier.

Dean said that Manhattan Club was in a fantastic location, but that the resort itself was good, but not great. It is across from Carnegie Hall and a couple of blocks from Central Park. I spotted Carnegie Hall when I was in NYC years ago, and that is indeed a prime location in NYC. Its really close to Hard Rock, 30 Rock and the other networks, and the broadway shows. I'm hoping that I can finally talk hubby into taking me to NYC!!

Tripadvisor had a lot of complaints about the elevators going out. One poor guy complained that he had a 23 floor walk-up. He then realized that he could have went to an adjacent building and went up the 23 flights and then over.:sad2: The other complaints were about a snotty :snooty: staff. I think he was particularly upset that the hotel staff did not mention the alternate route to the room when they mentioned NO ELEVATOR.

I wonder, IF DVC happens to have good trading power with Manhattan Club, we may be in luck. A lot of DVC owners live in NY/NJ area. I can't imagine a lot of the locals would want to stay there, so that gives the rest of us a better chance. Just a thought.
