"Update" happens 4 times a year (once each season for the upcoming season). "Basic Training" (which is the training that all new artists go to within a month of hiring) can happen at many times throughout the year, depending on how many people a particular region has hired, etc, etc.

"Update" is where the upcoming collections are displayed and demo'd, and where you get tips on application and selling of recently released or soon to be released products and collections. It's two days long. It's usually roughly in October for Winter, January for Spring, April for Summer, July for Fall.

"Basic" is where you learn how to do things the "MAC" way. You learn foundations and skin matching, how to pair certain colors and use certain products, tips and tricks, how to do smokey eyes, making "day" looks and "night" looks, applying lashes, etc, etc.

When they do UPDATE do they just leave all the stuff they use to be thrown away?

I got the mint concealer in my Everyday Minerals sample, too. I'm not sure that it will be a good concealer for me, but it will work as a highlighter, if nothing else. Two of the foundations I got seem close to the right color, just a shade too light.

I placed my first Beautycrunch order last night. I ordered 2 of the Too Faced Fantastic Plastic sets. I'm looking forward to trying the Lip Injections. I also bought a set of DuWop mini Lip Venom glosses. I read some of the reviews over at Makeup Alley. That made for an interesting read. I'm in for anything from plain old lips to red, swollen, and painful lips. We shall see....

I think I may be obsessing about makeup too much lately. Is that possible? Exhibit A: last night I had a dream about makeup. I was in a large department store makeup area. I was even finding bargains (this should have clued me in that I was dreaming.) I was having a hard time with the perfume samples because my hands were already so full of makeup that I couldn't pick the tester bottles up and spray them on my wrists. Then I was rudely awakened by my husband's snoring.



Then today I received an e-mail from Macy's. They want me to buy some Estee Lauder products, and if I do, I'll get a free gift. And if I buy even more, I'll get another gift, PLUS free shipping! Don't think I wasn't tempted. I'm out of Beautiful shower gel, which I really like. But at $27.50 for a 6.5 oz bottle, I think I'll pass. See? I can show restraint... for now.

Got my everyday minerals sample tonight and tried it - dh actually noticed and said I look more natural and pretty.

Me too! I love the Smudge Pots. Did you get the Runway Eyes or the talking pallet?

I bought the little set of three smudge pots - black, grey & bronze. Ive only so far tried the black - but I really like it. Nice true, deep black.

I got the Talking pallette with the purple, pink, cream & blue (I think?) but it's in Korean. LOL! Colors are great though. Will look FANTASTIC in the summer.

OMG - (bolded) made me laugh!!!! Isnt it funny what your mind comes up with??? When I was low carbing YEARS ago, I had a horrible dream that I was somewhere and I was starving - but all they had was cookies.

DuWop is fun - so is Too Faced Lip Injection's. I just personally like gloss with color - Ive never been a clear gloss fan. Let us know what you think of it. Have you tried the mascara, yet? You will LOOOOOVE it.

Yeppers, I had Too Faced Pinpoint and Lash Injection on. Plus I had the liquid liner on right against the lash line. It made my lashes look really thick. I asked my sister if it was too much and she said, "No, you look really great."

I played around with my everyday minerals...love love the mint concealer...but I'm not sure I like the rest...the colors are good...but the powder just makes my face look dry? does that make sense? I have pretty dry skin and I don't ususally like the way powder foundations look....But I' tried again today...& like it a little better...I think I just need to get the amount right.

Now, I need a good eyeliner....dark brownish...??? I love the hot chocolate lash injection mascara....

which one did you use the original glo or the matte or intensive. I ask b/c i noticed the original glo was a good dewy one but the intensive was a lot more matte i liked them both.

Do you put a moisturizer on before you use it? That might help. Which one are you using, too? (matte, semi-matte, etc?) Also - less is more with those. You wanna start with a small amount on your brush and build up, if needed.

The blush you use - does it have a slight sheen to it? It's better if it does.

If you like liquid (and it's a gel, actually) MAC's fluidline is phenomenal. You'd love the Dipdown - it's the same color as Hot Chocolate. But, you have to apply with a lining brush (which can be done - I do it everyday - but takes a little practice) they had Stila Smuge Pots on beautycrunch - but I think those are gone.

Would be good for any gel liner, you end up with.

And be advised - they last all day. Theyre truly worth the time and effort it takes to perfect application - simply for how wonderful they can be. (even all day at WDW)

This thread has given me a new problem. See, I'm starting to be late for work! Each day is like a new little makeup experiment in the bathroom. Maybe this concealer looks better with this foundation. Maybe I should try these two eyeshadows together and wear it with this blush. Maybe...... and it seems to be taking me longer and longer to do my makeup. I'm getting later and later......Help!!!!!!

Did you put a make up base on first? I usually use a little moistureizer then add a make up base like Smash Box Photo Finish or the BE make up base it makes the minerals go on smoother but you need to wait a bit till it sinks into the skin or else it will just glob up.

As for eyeliner I like the Stila Smudge pots they do not look harsh like some liner does. If they still have the set on Beauty Crunch go for it I think I is like 12.00 and there are three different liners and a small brush. ONe of the liners is bronze which is really a dark not harsh brown.

Me too, it's taking me so long to get my makeup on now. I'm hoping that with practice it will start to go faster.

Did you ever hear the joke about the man who asks for directions to Carnegie Hall? He asks a passer by "how do you get to Carnigie hall" and the passerby replies, "Practice, practice, practice."

LOL. Practice on the weekends etc. YOu will develop a routine like while youi are waiting for your eye depuffer to dry you apply the shadow insurance to your lids and then you apply moisturizer go back and apply the conealer under the eyes while that is setting put on the make up base go back put on the foundation then apply shadow and liner put on the mineral veil and go back and finish the liner and mascara. Sounds like a lot but there is no wait time inbetween. You will make up your own routine but after a while it becomes second nature. You are not really varying what you do only the colors of the products you use.
