new to this thread... tried to read a lot, but boy, it's a long one! :goodvibes

does anyone have a recommendation for very oily skin? cleaners, masks, makeup... anything. My t-zone is horribly oily. I'm constantly blotting and powdering throughout the day.

Do you guys recommend the workers advice at Sephora? I'm hesitant to ask a commissioned worker anything at all.

I'm oily as well and prone to breakouts. I like buying at Sephora because if it makes me breakout I can return it. I have asked them for advice and they haven't tried to over sell me on things. I sometimes just have an issue getting them to help me oddly enough.

I have found that using a primer has helped. I am using Dr Brandt's right now but its pretty expensive. I tried a few others but they made me breakout so I'm afraid to keep trying for a cheaper one. I like Mac blotting pressed powder. I haven't found a good cleanser and I'm also looking for a cheaper moisturizer. I used to use Proactive green tea which I liked but I'm try to mix in a few inexpensive products so my makeup routine isn't so pricey!

One thing I found that didn't work at all is Bare Minerals makeup and oil control primer. By the end of the day I was super oily and it looked like I had no makeup on at all. I know alot of people like it and it did look great when I first applied it but it just wasn't good for my oily skin.

I have very oily t-zone and combination skin. Stay away from Bare Minerals.....made me look like the Tin Man! lol Bare Minerals is NOT for oily skinned people.

Cleaners: H20 foaming face wash (not at Sephora, but very good....I've used it for over 8 years.)

Mask: Boscia Luminizing Black Mask ---- The best mask I've ever used! This is at Sephora....very expensive but worth the price.

Moisturizer: Philosophy Hope In a Jar --- I got a sample of this and wore it under my foundation. My face did not get oily at all! I usually have to blot several times per day, so this moisturizer is a miracle worker!

Foundation: I'm using Clinique Acne Solutions foundation...hate it. Next I'm going to try Nars Matte Foundation. I'll report back once I've tried it!

I didn't know Sephora employees were commissioned. My few experiences with asking advice just bombed....so I don't even ask anymore. I just read reviews online and buy based on that.

From what I've been told, Sephora workers don't work on commission. :)

Thanks for the heads up about the Sephora discout. I need to get a new brush head for my Mia. :)

Yeah! I finally got a 15% off coupon for being a Beauty Insider.

First one in ages!!

And I have over 500 points but just haven't seen anything good to use them on yet.

Guess I have some shopping to do before April 5. :cool1:

Anyone have a good concealer recc? I purchased the Tarte Smooth operator tinted moisterizer to go lighter for the summer, but I realize I need a good concealer in certain spots when I use it...I need to cover up blemishes, not under eye circles/puffiness.

I got my 15% off V.I.B coupon! Came through regular mail. :goodvibes

Looks like I've got 3 days to decide what I want to get.

I have mine all fired up and ready to go...all 387.50 :rolleyes1

Wow, you're going on a shopping spree! :scared1: My DH would kill me if I spent that much! ;)

I'm looking at all the value sets and like 90% of them are sold out. I really wanted to get the Lashstash set with all the different mascaras. Oh well. Guess I'll keep browsing. :thumbsup2

I have so many lemmings. I'm coming off an 18 month low buy! :scared1: I am definitely getting those YSL glossy stains and Urban Decay gloss pencils.

Speaking of Sephora, how does everyone like their new website? It's so awesome, I love the new "actual" photos of nail polish bottles instead of those weird color swatches....most were not true to the actual colors, at least IMO. Seeing the bottles will make it easier to buy nail polish online! And I love being able to see all the Beauty Rewards in both the 100 and 500 point categories. Love it! :goodvibes

Anyway, I had a question about Nars Blush....I noticed this has been a topic recently. I've only worn the Nars Super Orgasm cream stick, but I want to go back to powder because I prefer more of a matte finish.

Obviously the most popular Nars Blush color is Orgasm. But there are so many colors to choose from...does anyone here prefer the other colors? Or is Orgasm the way to go? I have fair skin, and was also thinking about the Deep Throat color as well. Any opinions?

Thanks,
diznee25

I don't like Orgasm because it's too light for me. I like Super Orgasm and Deep Throat. Amour is also nice if you don't like shimmer.

I’ve been meaning to post a review on the Clarisonic Opal. For those that don’t know, Opal is a sonic tool that vibrates and massages the skin product into the skin. It is marketed for use around the eye area.

I bought the Opal 2 years ago. I have bags and dark circles under my eyes and a deep wrinkle on the corner of my right eye. After about 2 weeks, I immediately noticed the skin under my eyes are firmer and the crows feet less visible. After 2 years of diligent use, the dark bags are still there but much less visible. If I use a concealer, they are almost invisible. That deep scar on the corner of my right eye? I couldn’t find it at first, then I found it but it is so, so light!!!

About 6 months ago, I read a trick on another board about using Opal on other areas. So I started using the Opal on some deeper wrinkle lines…the ‘11’ lines between my brows (I’ve had them since my late 20’s), the ‘( )’ lines next to my nose. I put Olay ProX deep Wrinkle cream on the lines and run Opal over the lines, I am amazed at the result. Between the wrinkle cream and Opal, the skin around the lines are plump up and the lines less visible.

The Opal is expensive at $200+ but like the Clarisonic Mia, it is well worth the cost.

It comes with eye serum, which I used and liked, but after it ran out, I just use whatever eye product I have.

I’m still looking for something get ride of bags and dark circles, any recommendations?

If you have a Discover card and have points enough to buy a Sephora gc on line you can get a 100.00 gc for 85.00 combine that with the vib coupon and you get around 28% off. I have mentioned this before but I had over 300.00 worth of discover money bought 3 cards saved 45.00 and then used my 15% for really big savings.

Thanks, I'll have to look at the colors again and make a final decision! :thumbsup2

On a side note to those with an iPhone: Check out the Viggle app. It's free and gives you points for watching TV. Points that you can redeem for gift cards including Sephora! I've started a Viggle thread awhile back on the Budget board. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2877414

I've been doing Viggle for a couple months and have already redeemed over $50 in Sephora gift cards. I plan to use them tomorrow with the 15% VIB coupon! Viggle only carries $10 Sephora e-gift cards. They cannot be used in stores, but they are stackable online. Which is a great plus!
