Hello! I am a music major. Sometimes when I hear a piece of instrumental music, I am moved to tears. Disney music is no exception. When I listen to the soundtrack from the little mermaid, I cry through the whole thing, It's just so beautiful.

Going to the parks is a waterworks fest for me. Music just affects me deeply. To know what goes into writing a score. And how hard the insrumentalists are working. I hear a flute or a piccolo, and i mean I am gone. (i play flute and picc)

I listen to Live365 at work, and throughout the day, i get misty-eyed.

So i have two questions.

When do you get teary throughout disney world?

i cry through the whole wishes show. And ive looked around, and I dont see many people (if any) crying. And i wonder.... ISNT THIS MOVING YOU!? lol :rotfl:

Second question:

Where can i aquire the music that the live365 stations play?

I dont understand how they have some of those whole rides and such. recording is not an option for me, as i'm at work. And i dont have high speed at home.

Well I'm not sure exactly what music that station plays but I have a few cd's with the parks music on it. I think it just may be the official Parks CD. You can probably do a search for it online.

BTW: I mist up everytime I hear the "WAY LA" song from Tapestry of Dreams :) :) :)

I feel the same way! I always cry during wishes!!! Its just so magical...that it moves me emotionally. I think that the music of Disney is just so beautiful!

I have both 4 versions of 'official' park music. And dont get me wrong, i love it.

But i listen to radio buena vista, park hopper radio, the disney dream radio, basically any disney station on live365.com. And they literally play the FULL RIDE. They just played splash mountain, it's a thirty minute long song. Not to mention the parade music. I have the pirates of the carribbean song. I want the pirates of the carribbean ride... :Pinkbounc

I don't cry (I'm a guy and I'm not allowed), but Wishes gives me MAJOR goosebumps and gets me choked up a bit.

:rotfl: not allowed to cry?

Says who?

My boyfriend cries during wishes. Mostly because im squeezing his hand to hard..... :rotfl2:

But seriously. He gets choked up and sheds tears during Mary Poppins. Its his thing. And ive held him and hes cried on my shoulder during severeal occasions. (not disney occasions though.) Hes always embarassed, but I think its cute. NO ONE except me has seen him cry since he was a kid. I feel lucky that he feels that comfortable around me.

And on another note, my Dad ALWAYS cries when he sees Ariel. in any shape or form. He LOVES her. And he cries. the man is 6'2, 250 pounds and 51 years old.

It takes a real man to cry...

:earboy2:

I was just on hold earlier tonight waiting to book a PS for Ohana when "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story II started playing. I can't even think about that song without crying. It's so sad and beautiful, and Sarah McLachlan sings it so perfectly. I'm not a cryer by nature, but this song just gets to me. I'm crying even typing this. I am truly pathetic. :sad1:

nocnurse, love your name since I'm one also!! I love "When Somebody Loved Me" too and once sang it to Jesse while she was signing DD's autograph book. She started to "cry" too and gave me a big hug!

greenyskp, have you ever heard about the musical score they made specifically for Animator's Palate restaurant on the Disney Cruise Line? I guess it was quite a production. They coordinate the food with the music and the walls that light up. At the end it is really something. That makes me cry but I'm pretty sappy for a lot of the Disney songs.

Yup, I'm a cryer too. I'm watching Wishes for the first time this Sunday, which is also my 1st anniversary, and just thinking about it gets me choked up. I'm such a sap :rotfl:

My eyes always well up during "Golden Dreams" in the American Adventure. It usually occurs when they show the picture of Ryan White - the young boy who died of AIDS through a blood transfusion. I did a report on him in fifth grade and his story has stuck with me ever since.

Then again, like someone else said, I'm a guy, so I don't 'cry'....but my eyes certainly 'well up'.

Also, I love the Illuminations music. Even when I listen to it on cd, I get chills. Even when ABC News has used it when covering presidential elections (as they've done the past two elections), I get chills.

If you love Disney music, you should look into the new music collections being produced for the 50th Celebration! Yesterday, a 6-disc (limited edition for the time being) set of music recalling Disneyland's history was released, and can only be purchased at Disneyland, WDW, and on www.disneydirect.com. It's a bit pricey, but for all the stuff you get, it seems like it's going to be quite a collector's item. There's also supposed to be a 2-disc WDW CD for the celebration released sometime as well.

Music does it to me too (flute and pic player), the way the CM's treat MJ like a 'normal' kid and the wonder in MJ's eyes. Oh who am I kidding, I go every weekend and cry EVERY weekend!

The "Circle of Life" does it for me. When that last note is played I always have a lump in my throat.

Glad I'm not the only one who gets a little emotional during certain Disney musical numbers. There are a wide variety of songs that get me... like "We Go On" from the Illuminations show, to name one. I am such a sap.

Overall, I think Disney does such a great job of incorporating just the right sounds/music throughout each of the parks and resorts. I love how the rocks and shrubs all seem to be playing music! It makes such a difference. The music is a big part of my Disney memories.

Another Vote for "When Somebody Loved Me" from Toy Story 2 as the biggest Disney tear-jerker of all time. I don't care how many times I see or hear it, it still makes my knees buckle and long for the lost innocence of youth.

The next step down from tear-jerker is lump-in-the-throat music. All of the music from the Lion King qualifies here, especially "Circle of Life". I also think the music from Hunchback gets overlooked. One of my favorite and most inspirational songs is Quasimoto singing "Out There". I can (and do) listen to it over and over.

Other Disney music has special meaning just by triggering memories from my youth. The list goes on and on in this category, but the music from Mary Poppins and Peter Pan come to mind.

I must confess. A few months ago after 13 years of the night shift I defected to my much more reasonable 11 am-11 pm shift. I figure in 3 more years I will have caught up on all the sleep I went without, and I'll change it to something more suitable. I'm just a poser right now.

But back to the music.....When I was little I had two LP's of Disney songs that I played and played and played. I loved them. They were "Disney's Happiest Songs" copyright 1959 and "Disney's Merriest Songs" copyright 1968. I still have them. This last Christmas I got the 5 CD set of Disney songs for my daughter so she could play and play and play them too. The music is probably my favorite part of the Disney legacy. I'm a real fan of the Alan Mencken songs (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Hunchback). On second thought maybe that 5 CD set was more for me. I think I'll go play them now. :music:

Call me a sap. I admit it, I do cry. Mostly to the older movies music (Snow White, Cinderella, etc...). It's amazing how much the music really contributed to the movies, not just with lyrics but with instruments.
Sometimes when I try to sing to my one yr old DD when I put her to bed I get a little soft then too.
Something about those songs that just make us feel young and secure.
SAP huh?

I haven't actually cried, in public, but I fight the lump in my throat during a few pieces of music. In and out of WDW. Now on my honeymoon trip that may change. lol To name a few that get me from wdw....Wishes, Illuminations, Spectro (when the kids sing) and Tapestry. I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of right now.
