The Magic of Tea Parties and Golf.... Updated 11/3 - Tie Dye t-shirts and more

LOVE your questions for the family! I'm stealing this and going to ask them all the same things tonight around the table (we're playing poker) ;)

:thumbsup2 Good for you! And thanks for the reminder to look into a share! I'm always so fearful of getting taken by someone dishonest. I could care less about losing a few dollars but my pictures are priceless! $100 is just so expensive though! I like leading shares and being in control. Classic Type A I guess.

Updated- I started a share on FB and have 1 person so far!

Good for you too! We have 4 people in our share so far... that makes the cost on $25 each... I have done 3 shares and they all were great... Shelly (Snowbirds) did the last one... no problems at all... hope this goes well to!!!

Soooooooooooooo... how did the memories question work out? I have been off for a few days... and as I am writing this I am sitting in a hotel in Niagara Falls NY... here to watch my son play in a golf tournament... on with our memories...
:thumbsup2

The Memories continue...
So if you haven't noticed from the first page... my husband Tim is not a huge Disney fan so when I asked him the questions of what his favorite memory of Disney was, what he likes to do at Disney and what he was looking forward to in January I was a little frightened of what I might get...

Tim says....
"My favorite memory of Disney isn't something that I did - it was watching the expression on Maggie's face one night when we were standing on the bridge in Tomorrowland watching the fireworks (also know as Wishes:lmao:). As soon as Tinkerbell started to fly from the castle her whole face lit up. It was magical!"

"What I most like to do is play golf at Disney. Any one of the courses is fine but I really like Osprey Ridge, the Palm and the Magnolia. And I am hoping that in January you have booked all of these courses for us to play... and I would like to play Osprey Ridge twice."

Well it appears that the Disney magic has not passed by my husband... he just puts on this rough and tough exterior... :confused3 When it comes to his little girl he is a big softie...:lovestruc

So that's it for Tim's answers.... next up Aunt Lorl...

Awwwww I love your DH's answer! I think most dad's are big softies under it all especially when it comes to their little girl.

My Em got to DH's soft side the other night. She asked in her sweetest voice when can we go back so she can ride all the big kid rides that Andrew got to ride last time. He's been talking nonstop to her about Soarin and Star Tours so she's super excited to be part of the 40" and over club. Neither of them know we are going and it's going to be tough to keep it a secret. Later that night when the kids were asleep he actually brought up Disney and asked about MVMCP and some details of the trip...all because his little girl asked when we could go! She might be little but she's got great power over her daddy already!

Kim how exciting to surprise them.... I wish I could do that but with jobs and being away at college and have girlfriends/boyfriends it better to plan ahead... I do try to keep some surprises while we are down there... like tours, dinners, tea parites, etc.... But your right about Dad's being big softies... that is nice that your DH is excited .... my DH hasn't asked any details yet..... time will tell...

Sorry for the delays... life has been very busy here..... so lets continue with the memories shall we....

Daniel - DS... I do believe Daniel or Tig as we refer to him at home... is a closet Disney lover.... I don't think he wants to admit it openly... and when asked about what he wants to do while we are there he says he doesn't care...but then we catch him talking to someone about Disney and telling them about and attraction, about an amazing meal he had or about the golf courses... I try to tell him that it's okay to have a Disney addiction .... and the first step to any addiction is to admit it... he just rolls his eyes at me...:confused3 So when I asked him about his favorite Disney memory he was hesitant. After a little pushing he gave in and they started flowing... There was the time when they were chased by an alligator on the golf course... :rotfl: or his 16th birthday meal in the wine room at the California Grill, or when he proposed to one of Cinderellas step sisters at 1900 Park Fare.... or when we all saw the double rainbow over the castle on our last day of one of our trips....

I knew he had it in him!!! Proud mamma here!!!!:banana:

Next in our traveling party is my Aunt... she has been to Disney twice... both times with me... her family isn't much on traveling so I invite her to go with us... then remind my Uncle that he owes me dinner...:rotfl:

Of the two times I have taken my aunt - once was wonderful and the other not so much... the first trip was in May and it was beautiful and we enjoyed the Flower and Garden Festival and the second time it was during a tropical storm and it rained all week ... we still had fun but we were VERY wet!!!

So when I asked her about her favorite memory she said she loved the Lion King show in Animal Kingdom.... it was so exciting. She also liked Epcot during the Flower and garden show as the flowers were beautiful. She took photos of the containers and went home and duplicated them. What she is most excited about for our upcoming trip is seeing the holiday lights and decorations. She has only seen them on tv and in my photos so can't wait to see them for herself. She is really low key - a great travel companion... will just go with the flow!!!

Last but not least me... the travel planner, Disney nut, mom to the above children, wife to Tim (the non-Disney person)...

I have had over 35 trips to Disney so its pretty hard to pin point one or two memories.... mine is more like the feeling I get when I am there... how nothing else matters, how I don't feel like I have to rush and be pressed for time like in daily life... it is like a peace comes over me...

I love bringing new people to Disney - seeing their expressions, sharing our excitement with them...

so yes I am coping out on my own question.... but willing to write more of this pre-trip report....:thumbsup2

So how did I convince everyone to go on this January trip... well of course I told DH that it was so that DS could play golf (he is a D-1 golfer and will be getting ready for spring season). I told DD that she might not stay a seasonal cast member and she would then be losing her discount :confused3, I told DMom that it was part of her Christmas present... DAunt just loves to go so there was no convincing there... and I told DS that we would eat a lot of steak and play a lot of golf.... there... they are all in...

Daily DD would check the Hub (for cast members) watching for deals.... and yesterday it was finally there!!!! While we had a nice discount for POP it was not available with the dining plan for the upcoming cast promotions . If you knew how much food my DH and DS (age 18) ate you would see what I wanted the dining plan... the nice cast members helped DD and I figure out that we could get a better deal with the dining if we upgraded to a moderate... so Riverside here we come. My first choice would have been Coronado Springs but that was not available... the only two available were Riverside (they only had 10 rooms) and Carribean Beach. DS actually requested Carribean Beach but we opted to go with Riverside because of the trundle beds. DD, Mom and Aunt will be in one room. DD is tiny (5ft 100 lbs) so she fits nicely on the trundle... that way they can all have their own bed... we did consider the POLY but it was going to cost and additional $1500 and since I am footing the bill I voted it down...

So Riverside it is.... everyone is happy with the plan... well kind of... DH still likes Shades of Green the best because he can just walk out the door with his clubs but no dining plan there so its a no go!

For each trip I do a little book for everyone with information about the hotel, our travel arrangements, our dining plans (give them the menu), what days we will be going to what parks (thanks to Tourguide Mike). Today I will need to update the hotel information. When I asked my Aunt about going on the trip her first questions after answering yes was when was she going to get her travel book from me..... so I guess they like them....

Picture of travel book to follow... now it is time for me to go to work to pay for the trip!!!

Have a great day friends!!!!

Loved the update...your son sounds like mine...he always grumbles about 'another Disney trip', but is always the first one to say "such & such remindes of EPCOT, or hey...that music is just like future World" or whatever...I too think he is a secret addiction kinda kid!! LOL! can't wait to see your travel book!!!!! Hope you make scads of $$$$$$$ this week!!!!

Still have another appointment this afternoon and then my mom and I are heading to our camp to meet DS...to bring all his hunting things to him... its about 2 hours from her and 1 1/2 from him.. DH and DD are heading to Michigan to see his mom... she is in the end stages of ovarian cancer... so sad..... I am afraid she won't be with us much longer.

Wendy - great updates!

So sorry about your DH's mom. My mom has a very good friend from many years ago that is also in the final stages of ovarian cancer. It's a tough one.
Have you stayed at POR? We really liked it there. Nice and relaxing.

Congrats on the CM discount and upgrading to POR!!!

I hope your visit with DH's mom is filled with quality moments. I'll keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Well we have explored memories so now lets take a look at the plans… over the past week they have changed daily.. sometimes hourly…

Our first order of business was to determine what parks on what days… using a variety of different sites (of which I will not name for fear of breaking rules) we determined our park days….

We arrive on January 3rd… thanks to an early flight on Jet Blue we should be at the hotel by noon. It also happens to be the last day of the Osborne Lights…. My DH, DS and DAunt have never seen them so it is off to Hollywood Studios for the day. My only concern here is that the fast passes for Toy Story and Rock n Roller Coaster will be gone for the day. With the exception of DMom and DAunt we all love thrill rides… well I must admit I am not a huge fan of Tower of Terror.. I do ride this attraction once while we are there… because my children think I am a wimp if I don’t…. but really the thought of tossing my lunch really doesn’t appeal to me:confused3… actually this ride scares the heck out of me:scared1:…. I can do any roller coaster but that Tower of Terror scares me….

Dinner plans for that day are to go to 50’s Prime Time Café…. DD and I have both been here… but not the rest of our traveling party… I am hoping for a good time with the server… the last time I was there they put my traveling companion in the corner for not eating his peas:rotfl2: and “yelled” at him for having his elbows on the table. I think my DS will really get a kick out of this place. It’s a good thing for us the park closes early that night as we will be tired from our 4 am wake up time…. :cloud9:

The rest of our week looks like….

Jan 4th Magic Kingdom
January 5th Epcot
January 6th Animal Kingdom
January 7th Epcot
January 8th Magic Kingdom
January 9th – DTD and travel home (7 pm flight)

I like those plans! I've been holding off on going to 50s PTC because my kids are such picky eaters and so sensitive to criticism, I think they'd burst into tears! someday...

I like that you're going to MK and Epcot twice. Sounds like my kind of trip!

Oh - would you be able to go through the single rider line on some of the rides if there's no FPs left? Just an idea.

Matching tshirts is not a big hit with our family... but they do like to have new tshirts... so I made us each a tie dye shirt... my first attempt ... and boy are they a lot of work... but worth it... my DMom and DAunt took theirs already but here are DD and mine...

Maggie loves pink so I went with that for her... and I went with the blue and purple because I thought it would look good with jeans... and on past January trips it has been chilly...

OOH, those shirts are great!! I like that you put the Mickey head lower.
We made tye dye shirts at the Beach Club when we stayed there and my Mickey is lopsided (the ears) and the ears are placed, well, where they draw attention to my female-ness. Kind of odd.

Wendy I love the shirts! I'm glad you're getting to see the Osborne lights before they are gone!

Sheree that's too funny about your shirt! I bought a floral shirt this summer and didn't notice two strategically placed flowers until DH pointed it out. :scared:Now it's obvious to me and I won't wear it. I have no idea how I didn't notice it in the fitting room!
