After checking in, but not being able to go to the room, we took the bus to AK. It was about 9:30am. We headed straight back to the Safari Ride and it was a walk on!!! Off to a great start. It was a great day. We did everything we wanted to do there with the exception of the LION King show.
I wanted to stay for the next show but the rest of the family was hungry so I gave in and we went to Rainforest Cafe for lunch at around 1:30. I had not made any PS for this but we were seated in 10 minutes! We all enjoyed it as always and had the VOLCANO for dessert!!!! I had called the hotel earlier and they said our rooms were ready! After lunch we went to the hotel and found our rooms and called for our luggage. Rooms 2503 and 2505 - 2 queen beds connected to a queen and bunks. The view was incredible. We saw Zebras, Giraffes, Elands, Wildebeasts, Ankole Cattle and a cool bird (I forget his name). We were so close to the animals we could actually hear the Eland's tendons pop as he walked!! We unpacked as we watched the animals. They were the closest at 7ish am and 5:30 to 6:30 pm each day. We had some time to kill so we suited up and headed to the pool. It was very crowded!! A lovely large pool with a zero entry area and a slide! Our rooms were very close to the pool, Mara (food court), arcade, laundry, Simba's Clubhouse. After scoping out some chairs (which took a few minutes) we enjoyed the pool and pool bar! They provide life preservers for the little kids which was great! We never used the hot tubs. We had PS for 'Ohana for dinner at 8:30. We got showered, dressed and headed out but took a wrong turn thru the MK gates and were 20 min late for our PS but they honored them anyway and we got a great seat by the window. The food was good but the atmosphere was great! We watched fireworks from there!
Full and happy, we headed back to the hotel and did not get lost this time!!! I set up a 7 am wake-up call and fell into bed!
Tip for the day: we valet parked our car the whole week and when we went to any of the other resorts we valet parked the car there too. We just told them we were paying for valet parking at our hotel and they did not charge us!
