Do they still show this short movie at DHS during the backlot tour? I haven't seen it in years and I would love for my DH to see it!

Nope.

Not for years.

The Backlot Tour does not include any interior sets, which is where they played that film.

Yep it was there in 1989 when my kids and I first went, but after that, it was GONE...like so many other things.:sad2:

Interestingly, many of the PROPS from that film are still seen in the "prop room" queue (for the tour-trams) that you will enter following the Water Tank portion of the current version of the attraction.

That prop room also has many artifacts from other now-closed WDW attractions, Epcot's defunct World of Motion, in particular.

Wow. Thats a flashback. Hadn't even thought of that movie for ages. Wasn't it shown when you walked through the enclosed catwalk area overlooking the sets? Or am I mixing up my tours.

That's correct.

That was a good one - and so was Captain Eo (sp?) :thumbsup2

Long gone, but it was one of the better parts of the back lot tour. You watched the movie, then saw some of the props and techniques used to make the film.

Now, who remembers Mel Gibson holding Pee Wee Herman like a baby?

(Or was it the other way around?)

-MGM Map-

This version of the map is STILL not quite early enough.

The "101 Dalmatians" set pieces took the place of the Bette Midler "Lottery" film and props.

Also, Sunset Blvd. was not open until five years (or so) into MGM's existence. (mid-1994)

Plus, Fantasmic! is shown... which premiered even later than Sunset Blvd... in 1998.

And, of course, Rock'n'RollerCoaster is there. (July 1999)

Off topic but had to share.... speacking of Pee Wee....How about Pee Wee and everyones favorite Pirate .....

Ya, it's as early as I've found so far. You can see the 100 years sign under the hat.. so this would be 2002 or 2003.

1990. I remember driving in to the parking lot on the Southside of the park back then. You could see the props in the back stage tour through the fence line.

I remember that tour used to take you into a viewing area of current productions. My sister was a huge fan of the Mickey Mouse Club. She remembers clearly looking down from the glass window to see Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake dancing. I wasn't a fan so I can't recall the specific people, but she still talks about it.

MGM (at that time) was smaller but very interesting. I remember taking the baclot tour and Herbie the love bug was doing a wheel stand and the tires smoking when we drove by

What about the Home Improvement set?!?! Was that before or after the Dalmation stuff?

Interesting to see how little of that 1990 map is actually labeled Theme Park vs the Production Facilities. Despite the production never really taking off, it was nice to do the tour and actually see things being filmed, as well as attending a Mickey Mouse Club show taping.
