Well, after pouring over tons of pre-trip reports, post trip reports, currently happening trip reports... here's my first shot at EVER writing a pre-trip report! Hopefully SOMEONE will want to read it! lol Oh and if anyone wants to PM me and explain how to insert pictures that would be super cool!

"Look Out Mean Girls, I'm Going To Disney!"

I am going to Walt Disney World… at age 37.. for the first time.. EVER! Can I just say that in spite of everything I endured growing up, living well most definitely is the best satisfaction! I would say it's the best revenge, but revenge is the Lord's not mine so....This trip report is dedicated to every woman and girl out there who is currently or ever has been the butt of a joke, the singled out freak, the one without any friends. Know that God is good…ALL THE TIME, and Disney is magic… ALL THE TIME!

Let's talk about Junior High.

I hated junior high.

I don’t just mean hate, I mean loathe. Realizing that’s not a very edifying feeling, I can’t help it. I was that girl. The one that always got picked on. The one always chosen last for teams in gym class and on the play ground. The one who sat alone for lunch and any free outdoor time. Did I mention I’m 37 and still this whole thing bothers me?! Okay, so I have issues.. I’m working on it!

I went to a private catholic school (that my mom busted her butt to send me to) and let me tell you… kids are cruel. There were the “haves” and the “have nots”… guess which one I was.

More so than just kids being cruel in general… girls in particular are ruthlessly mean! The name calling, note passing, pointing, rumor spreading, friend stealing, back stabbing… it goes on and on. I developed early, which made the teasing worse. I was super sensitive so of course they fed off of that and it made it worse still. Let me just say that if you have a daughter and she is depressed from being teased constantly at school, please don’t ignore the situation. I am truly lucky that purely by God’s grace I am still here today because I was quite desperate throughout junior high to put the teasing to an end.

My mom was a single mom who, sadly, had to divorce my father when I was 5. We moved in with my grandma and the three of us were the three musketeers. Every year my mom worked hard and scrimped and saved so that we could go someplace close by – Wisconsin Dells, Six Flags over Great America, Adventureland… some amusement park or something fun for a long weekend every summer. I only remember one time going on vacation for an entire week and it was to visit my uncle and his family in Colorado Springs. Mom always made sure I had everything I needed; there just wasn’t any money for much extra.

So, obviously, we never could afford to go to Walt Disney World. I heard stories of other kids going for a week, ten days, more sometimes. They had souvenirs coming out their ears, clothing from the happiest place on earth and pictures, stories and memories to last a lifetime. I was a Christian and was taught not to covet my neighbor’s anything… but I have to be honest… I was terribly, horribly jealous. So much so, that I made it a goal of mine to one day not only make it to Walt Disney World, but also to get my kids there if and when I had kids. On October 24th 2008, I will fulfill that life long promise.

If you made it this far reading… I promise the sad part is over! I’ll post as the trip gets closer (22 days as of today!) and everything from here on out should be nothing but Disney excitement! I've got an awesome family and we are so excited to go on this adventure together! Here’s a quick introduction of my family!

Cast of Characters

Adam – my husband…. my best friend… my prince charming. Adam and I have been married almost four years. He is my protector, my safety net, and my comedy relief. He makes me laugh and I think that is so important in a marriage. Adam is a great step-dad to my two kids and dad to his daughter Aubree. He is a HUGE CHICAGO CUBS FAN! He went to Disney once when he was four and doesn’t remember it at all. Adam got a great job about a year ago as a machinist for a huge agricultural company in the area and it’s thanks to his bonus that I am finally seeing my dreams come true. Thanks babe! The Disney Character that best describes Adam is Donald Duck... he's funny, witty, ornery and loves to crab and grumble!

Aubree – Aubree is my step-daughter. She lives with her mom and step-dad about an hour from us. She didn’t join us on this trip as she is only about the size of a 3-year old even though she’s 11, and she is blind. She’s been to Disney before and didn’t care to go again. Riding at 60mph without being able to see isn’t her idea of a good time! Although small in stature and unable to see, Aubree is wicked smart and has a memory to put an elephant to shame. She really is a miraculous inspiration. Aubree is most like any of the Cinderella's step-sister Anastasia. Unfortunately her mom and maternal grandparents have spent tons of time, attention and money directed at trying to over compensate for Aubree's disabilities. The result is a spoiled, selfish princess at home who comes to realize she's loved just as much as but not any more than everyone else in the family when she's with us. Quite the adjustment for her I'm sure.

Michael - a/k/a Mike is my almost 16-year old son. He loves adventure, fast rides and lots of drops. Needless to say the Tower of Terror is number one on his list of must do rides, followed closely by Expedition Everest. Mike is a smart aleck to his sister Jessica (as all good older brothers are), protector of Aubree, harasser of mom (me) and pal to Adam. He is super smart, wise beyond his years, compassionate, funny and fun to be around. Sometimes I have to remember he’s the son and I’m the parent when locked in a good, healthy debate with him. The boy’s got mad debating skills. lol Mike is most like a cross between Doc the dwarf and Goofy! What a combination! Super smart and great at problem solving yet always making jokes and making people laugh!

Jessica – a/k/a Jessie is my baby girl. Although Aubree is a year younger, Jess is my biological youngest and the youngest to live full time in our home. Jessica is a smart mouthed almost 13-year old. She also has the biggest, most compassionate heart for people and animals. She loves animals – all animals.. dogs, cats, horses, goats, pigs, all the way down to caterpillars and slugs! Needless to say Animal Kingdom is her biggest goal on this trip! Jessica has Juvenile Diabetes. She was diagnosed at four. It’s been a long road these past 8 ½ years but we are trying hard to keep her disease under control. She also has a mild heart condition, which hasn’t given her any trouble but we don’t take any chances so she won’t be joining Mike on the previously mentioned rides he is so readily anticipating. Jessica can be difficult as all girls her age can be, but she is maturing and growing and turning into a wonderful young woman that I am privileged to call my friend. Jessie most reminds meof a cross between Grumpy dwarf and Snow White! She loves to care of animals and others, would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it and is extremely concerned if anyone else is hurt or upset. On the other hand, the Extra Magic Hours - MORNINGS are going to put our family to the test as I fully expect Grumpy to come out in full force! Wish us luck!

Kat – a/k/a Me! I am a 37-year old mother of two and step-mother of one, a licensed daycare provider Monday-Friday in my home and a Passion Parties Executive Director and Consultant a couple of nights a week. My God, my husband, my kids… in that order…with all my heart. I’m heavily involved in bible study, take kuk sool won martial arts with the rest of the clan and love taking care of my daycare kids and my family. As previously stated, I want to go to Walt Disney World! lol I think I'm most like Tinkerbell. I'm a hopeless romantic, a bit on the jealous side at times and full of pixie dust to make all my loved ones dreams come true!

Well that’s the cast. The setting is Walt Disney World, Florida. 6 nights and 7 days from 24 October 2008 – 30 October 2008. We are staying at the All Star Music Family Suites. We have the full package with the dining plan, water park and more and hopper passes.

I have read reviews by many disers and I just hope I can come close to some of my idols.. Mrs. The King – I bow to your writing skills, your wit and your humor! Mrs. Campbellscott – I strive to be not only as good a writer as you, but as great a step-mom… you are a marvelous example to us all! I hope everyone enjoys my TR and I’ll try to be funny and witty and share lots of food porn! Thanks for reading if you got this far! Kat

WOW! You sound so much like me. My mom and step-dad couldn't afford to take us to WDW (I have 3 younger sisters), so we went to the Dells EVERY SINGLE SUMMER! LOL Not that I regret that part, because I don't. Those were my favorite vacations. But I went to a private school, too, and it sucked to hear my friends talking about going to WDW and the ocean. And slumber parties KILLED ME, because we'd have to watch all their home movies (on a film projector, no less! LOL). I was SOO jealous. We didn't even have pictures of OUR vacations, because my mom never got pictures developed.

By the way, every interesting, smart woman I know was a outcast in middle school. I think it's a law of nature or something. All those stuck up people ended up getting their due, don't you worry!
