The look of the Teenage Boy

I am very lucky that my son prefers the Wrangler cargo jeans, found at Walmart for $16! As a matter of fact, we can't find men's cargo jeans anywhere else. He loves the pockets to put his phone, wallet, and ipod touch in. He prefers band t-shirts, but I can usually hit those on sale. He is a 12 1/2 shoe size at 15 and 5'10 and 160. Likes his hair short, because it grows into an afro if we don't keep it that way. Now, if it would grow down, he might like it longer.

Tomador, this very topic drives my husband CRAZY! We have an almost 12 year old son, and while we can control what he is wearing or his hair, we let him venture out to see what his choice of style would be. He dresses pretty decent overall, but he's going for the long hair, over the ears, have to brush it out of his eyes every 20 seconds look. In all honesty, I'm tired of it....and the beginning of January, he will be choosing a new cut, or my husband will be choosing one for him. ;) (I can't STAND skinny jeans on guys though. YUCK!)

My son is 12 and I swear it sounds like I could have written this post! :rotfl:

He is always snapping his head back to get his hair out of his eyes. This is our first year of him really asserting himself in his hair style and clothes he likes to wear. I can't complain about the clothes; he favors button down shirts with collars. Of course, he wants these shirts and his jeans to be 2 sizes to big!

Ah well... I was a child of the 80's. I wore florescent colors and Madonna/Michael Jackson inspired clothing. My parents survived it and I suppose I will too!

My 14 year old son has had long hair off and on for the last three years. Now he is in JR ROTC so he has to keep it short:rotfl:
I don't mind it. It is only hair as long as it is combed and washed.
He likes the skinny jeans ..the whole 9 yards. DH hates teh skinny jeans BUT as long as he goes out of the house looking decent I really don't care what he wears.

The dress of boys has changed alot. I don't have a son but I sure don't like the look I see. Skinny jeans, tight t-shirts, and long winged hair. What happened to boys looking like boys? Sometimes I can't tell who is a boy and who is a girl. That also makes me think of the long hair they have. What is up with that? Do they really think it looks good? All I think it would do is cause more breakouts. I guess I'm getting old.
As a high school teacher, I'd say that maybe 5% of the boys at my school dress in the manner you're describing.

I would much rather have my daughters date a guy with "the scene" look than date a guy wearing their pants hanging below the butt and showing their underwear. That is disgusting, i still see it and it grosses me out.
I am 37 and back in the 80's, the guys had longer hair and looked really scrubby. They wore ripped clothing, etc.
I like the boys look so much better now.

Doesn't sounds any different from any other decade. :teeth: Boys had longer hair when I was in HS in the 70s. LOL! Now, the pants with the crotch to the knees and the belt below the butt is just disgusting. Why that heck is that "look" in so long? :sad2: I'll take the skinny jeans over that ANY day!!!

To everyone who can't stand what their teens wear now-give them time-in about ten years they will also be appalled!:woohoo:

I don't mind the long hair if it is washed. I can't stand oily, dirty looking long hair. The tight jeans don't bother me.

And all I can say is "thank heavens!" Those skinny jeans have finally replaced those huge baggy jeans with no belts (prison look) where the pants are literally falling off and all of the underwear is hanging out. I'll take fitted skinny jeans any day over that!

Amen to that!
