I think I read somewhere in one of these posts that The Little Mermaid is coming out on DVD this year, is this true? If so when? I absolutlely love The Little Mermaid.

Yes it is I was sooooooooo excited about this (It's my favourite Disney Film) I believe it comes out in October!

The Little Mermaid has already been released on DVD. I got a copy several years ago at The Disney Store.
It may currently be in the "Disney Vault", but you can still get it as an import at amazon.com.

October is the month for the release of Little Mermaid on DVD. I can't wait to get it!!

I too have a copy of the original release. I'm looking forward to the 2-disc release though. The single disc has become a collectors item and was released back before Disney came up with their "Platinum" catalog.

The Little Mermaid was one of the first Disney Animated Features to be released on DVD. It, along with Lady and the Tramp, The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations made up the "Limited Issue" release. These single disk Disney DVDs came with little or no bonus material. Luckily, all are being re-released on DVD as part of the Plantinum Collection.

Lady and the Tramp was first, followed by The Little Mermaid in October of this year, 101 Dalmatians in February of 2007 and The Jungle Book in October of 2007.

not to mention they had bad picture quality, especially if you have a widescreen TV, since the dvd's were letterboxed and not widescreen (so you would get black bars on all four sides of the picture, with a teeeeny movie in the center!)
