The last week of February...

Due to furlough days, I have a 4 day weekend over President's Day weekend. I haven't been able to afford a Disney trip these past two summers, so, of course, I think, "Hey, what if instead of buying the kids crap for Christmas like usual, I spend the money on a trip to Disney?"

I'd love to go to WDW, but unless something magical happens with airfare, it wouldn't be worth it to fly there for just three days.

Here's the question: if we come February 20th or so, what will we get to see? I was very disappointed with our trip in 2009 because, although it was June, the parades and shows were down. We caught part of the preview of the new fireworks, but didn't even get to see a whole fireworks show. I'd rather save my money, wait, and come in summer than travel hundreds of miles and not get to see shows.

If you have gone to Disney in February in the past, could you please share your experience? I would want to make sure we get to see the fireworks, World of Color, and Fantasmic for sure...and hopefully a parade, too.

Thanks!

We have been there that time the last few years. As it is president's day weekend the hours are extended. We saw the Pixar Parade 2 years ago and the Parade of Dreams?? the year before. If Mickey's Soundsational Parade is continuing I imagine it will be on that weekend. WOC was also on every night last year so I expect it will be the same again this year. In the past they they also have had fireworks and Fantasmic on during President's day weekend. There may be 1 or 2 major rides down for refurb. but overall this is a good week for Disney. Hope this helps.

We've been there twice about that time and were able to catch a lot of things. That is typically the front end of Spring Break, and at a time when they add more than typical shows. And, since you're near a holday, it is even more likely that you'll hav ean opportunity to catch the good shows.

I love that all the new spring growth starts then- all of the flowering trees are budding and the leaves are beginning to uncurl- they have tulips and daffodils about, it's gorgeous! We were rained out one night, but it was actually pretty neat since we don't see the same kind of storms at home. We found the weather better in Feb than our past May trip, where we spent everyday in warm jackets and long jeans.

Go for it, and enjoy. :) I don't think there is a "bad" time of year for Disney!

Thanks for the good news! Funny that February would be better weather than May...but I believe it! On our last trip we had one day that was rainy and downright cold!!!

I'm going to start some planning, hoping that this all works out in my favor!

We went in 2010 the week before Presidents day. The ROA was drained so we missed out on a lot of things but the trade off in crowds was soooo worth it. We actually rode POTC and were able to stay on and take another spin through without getting off. The weekends were busier and the park hours through the week were 10-8. No fireworks or fantasmic except for the weekend. The weather was awesome. Sweatshirt in the morning and evening.
Our next trip in 2013 will be at the same time:wizard:
