In all honesty...getting this new job is so worth the sacrifice of the July trip!! I'm very excited to start working a 'normal' shift and give up being the vampire bat LOL!!

It has not yet started... Jen is taking the helm, and I believe that she's planning to start it when she gets back from her trip with LL. Christine may be doing her own... I'm not sure She was booked to go 1st...and when Jen and I decided to go, we worked our dates to match C's. Jen and I are staying together at SSR..but C is at her love the BC I'm assuming we will all be together alot... but I know that C is arriving a couple days before we are.

Congrats on your new job! I worked part time (note...part time) nights when my kids were little and I NEVER got used to it! And I only worked part time (did I say that already????). So I can understand your excitement about getting off nights!

I am sorry you had to cancel your trip. You still have developer points to use, don't you?????

When are you and Jen going in September???? My DH has consented to a quickie free dining trip in September, but I can't go too late because one of my coworkers is going to Africa for 3 weeks in October. I was curious when you were going to be there incase there is any chance of an overlap. I really, really want to go to the Halloween party.

Now you know why I don't do pre-trip reports. I think they are bad luck!

we are going Sept 26-Oct 3...so may be too late for you....which is way too big of a bummer!!!

I have been working full time nights for 6 & 1/2 years ....ever since Allison was a little over a year old.

I knew when I applied for the job...that taking the summer trip would definately be in jeopardy. but it would have been a nice consellation prize Fortunatly this new outfit is very nice. My other trips should not be a problem at all...they knew about them before I was hired. Actually they would let me take the time off w/o pay in July... but no pay on top of the 15% paycut i'm taking, was too much to swallow.

Kyle's going to get his laptop that he wants (and will need for HS in the fall... he's going to be trying a computer aided design elective thru the vo-tech) which is cheaper than the trip ...and Kyle's happier about it anyway.

Years ago I worked crazy split shifts and my Dh worked midnights sometimes. We hated it. So I know how thrilled you must be to find a job in the daytime.

Darn Sept 26 - Oct 3!. That is too late for me to go because my coworker would die if she had to work /be on call for 4 weeks straight because of other people's vacation.

Those are the exact dates I would have liked to go! It would have been the most perfect time. Oh well! What can you do???? DH and I decided to go on a 4 nighter 9/20-24. We are going to stay at POP (which may be hard to do after staying at AKL villas) with the free dining. My kids will be in 9th and 11th grade, so we will let them stay home alone with a neighbor checking in. We figure there is less chance of them getting into trouble if we go away during the school week when they are busy with school work and soccer. We don't want to be away over a Sat night.

It would have been so fun to get together. DH and I will have to plan our spring DVC trip during gnomefest!

Great plans so far! Vero Beach looks gorgeous and your choices for ADR's look excellent! My dad started out as a volunteer firefighter when I was little (proof in point, taken around 1989):

Now, he's been a paid firefighter for 20 years, (he's a captain now)so I've grown up around the firehouse. He still even lets me ride on the firetruck
