The Kids Surprise Trip and Our Winter Weather Escape! ~With LOTS of pictures~

oh my god Well Done boys

Would love to see a video of your eldest battling Darth. Am looking forward to seeing those photopass pics

As an adult, do you think if i jump around enough i'll get picked:rotfl2:

Unfortunately they do make an announcement before every show that only children will be picked! Lots of adults are always disappointed!! :rotfl:

Welcome to my TR! :goodvibes

Yipee!!! So glad they got chosen. My son tried three times before he was chosen. On the third try, I went into the bathroom and pulled off about a two foot strip of papertowels and wrote THE THIRD TIME IS THE CHARM on it with a Sharpie. He jumped up and down holding his banner high.

:lmao: That's a good idea!! I never thought of that!

Thursday January 22nd continued. . .

So after we had 2 well trained Jedi's we went to the camera place at DHS (can't remember the exact name) to have them load the JTA photopass pictures onto our card. Then we had some pictures taken on the street in front of the hat. Again, too bad I don't have my photopass CD yet!!

By now it was nearing 2:30 so we headed to get a spot for the 3:00 Block Party Bash parade. Mass crowds were everywhere. We were across from Sounds Dangerous. We met up with Trixiequilts and family there. We waited and waited for what seemed like forever. The sun was shining and this was the first time we started to feel warm!! We actually had to take our jackets off! :woohoo: As we waited some woman told us that the parade doesn't even come by where we were standing. . . :confused3 There were tons of people there, so I didn't know if that was true or not. But we decided that we had waited long enough anyway and the parade was nowhere close. So we started walking towards the front of the park. We ended up seeing part of the parade. I wasn't really impressed. I really really miss the Star and Cars Motor Parade. That was a great parade!

Pretty soon we decided that we had enough and that there was may be just enough time to go back and use our RNRC fastpasses before our 4:10pm dinner ADR. So one more spin on RNRC and then we headed for Mama Melrose.

We ate at MM last year and it was really good. This time we thought it was just okay.

After dinner we only had a short time to kill before it was time to go get a seat for Fantasmic. Even though we had the voucher from the dinner package, our waitress said to go no later than an hour before show time now because of it only being shown twice a week. Which to me kind of defeats the whole purpose of having the voucher.

So we took a short walk around the Streets of America and then headed for Fantasmic! :smickey:

I totally agree with the voucher thing!! What is the point paying for the deal when you can just line up at that time with all teh rest of the guests?????? Very Odd!

Cant believe Jedi training camp only takes kids!! darn it!! Thats "Adultism" pmsl

Yay!!! The boys were chosen... together!!!!! That is so special! I hate it when one child from a family is chosen and the other isn't. Such sad lil' faces in the crowd. Makes me feel so bad for their precious little souls. :sad1:

And your boys were brave! That old Darth Vader is really scary-- he creeps me out.:scared: But I scare easily-- so...... maybe your boys could protect me.pirate:

I don't care for Block Party Bash either. It's kinda...... dumb. :scared1: Yep- I said it alright. Dumb.

And as far as the voucher thingy for Fantasmic---- never done it-- and I've always gone 1 hr before and gotten KILLER seats in the middle. I think it's just another money making scheme.:confused3
I don't think we'll even darken DHS's door next yr on F! nights--- there's no point. I like it-- but I've seen it enough now for awhile--

Thanks for the GREAT update---:goodvibes

are you feeling any better today???

Jo

Yes, the whole Fantasmic dinner voucher is definitely not worth it anymore. I could have gotten a seat an hour prior to the show without it. It used to be worth it when you had a seperate entrance and could show up 30 minutes prior to the show. But that's not the case anymore! :sad2:

Hi Shelly! I finally made my way over to your TR from your Dining Report! I am loving the TR! I am so glad that your boys got chosen for the Jedi Training Academy! That is great! I am looking forward to reading more. This is giving me the motivation to begin my own TR!

Thanks JO! :goodvibes

Glad to hear that I am not alone in my feelings about Block Party Bash. Although a lot of people must like it, there were mass crowds everywhere to see it. :confused3 But then maybe they all thought it was dumb afterwards too!

Nope, unfortunately I'm not feeling any better today. :sad2:  And I really need to be better for DS7's field trip tomorrow - DISNEY ON ICE!!!

Thursday January 22nd continued. . .

So we made our way to the Fantasmic theater right at 6:00. A CM took our voucher and we were directed to the right side. We met up with Trixiequilts and family once again and were as close to the middle of the "reserved seating" section as we could be. There were plenty of seats left on the left side of the theater, so we could have gotten seats at 6:00 without the voucher. Although it did fill up very fast over the next 20 minutes or so. The only thing separating the regular seats from the reserved seats was a rope, and there were no CM's enforcing this. So naturally people were climbing under the rope and sitting in the reserved seating without a voucher. There was one, um very loud woman sitting a few rows in front of us who was trying to stop these people and I was pretty sure a fight was going to break out :scared: , but the people who were sneaking in just said some things back to her and proceeded to sneak in. At 6:30 a CM came by and took the rope down and the reserved seating was then opened up to everybody.

The boys had the best time with Trixie's girls and that really helped the hour go much faster. Otherwise they would have been complaining the whole time. The weather had really cooled down and those bleacher-type seats were really cold! I was glad we had worn our jackets that morning and still had them with us.

Fantasmic was wonderful as always, and I'm glad we saw it because if Disney continues to only show it a few times a week we will be skipping it next time.
