The Kids are Going to Mexico So I'm Going to WDW (Solo)!! (4/2/11 - 4/8/11)

I'm really impressed with the photos your iphone takes!!
One more reason why I can't wait to be able to fit the extra data plan price into our budget!!!

To be clear, I used my iphone to take pictures of the food (which is why the the plate looks almost green). The outdoor pictures were taken with the big boy aka a Canon Rebel T1i with a couple different lenses (the thing weighs a ton but even on AUTO I can usually get shots I want--sometimes I don't have the time to deal with settings).

However I love my iphone. I kept track of my trip on the Notes feature and when I wasn't reading on my Kindle I was checking out the dis on the iphone!

Oh! :rotfl:

I wanted to mention that you are a really great photographer, no matter what you were using to take them!! Beautiful!! :worship:

Love reading your report and looking at your photos. How nice it must have been to be able to stop and take your time taking photos whenever you wanted.:goodvibes Not that I'm sure you wouldn't have wanted to have your kids there with you but since they weren't, what a nice benefit!

Love the sand sculpture of The African Cats! DD11 saw a commercial for it the other day and wants to see it. I can use some of me Kellogg's (and PopTart) movie cash to see it.

What a bumpy start you started off with. Glad it all worked. I agree with you, why would a celebrity fly SW when they can afford something else? Don't get me wrong, I love flying SW (esp. with free luggage) but if money wasn't a big concern I would love a little more leg room!

Can't wait to read the rest

April 8

My last day! There were a few times during the week where I considered extending my stay another day, but in the end decided to be good (and I was concerned that I'd have the same problems getting back that I had getting there which would have been a problem if I left late).

I slept in and then packed up the room. I went back to Downtown Disney to buy a few more things including a new shirt for me to wear home (I only had two clean black shirts left and it was HOT  ).

I went back to Wolfgang Puck Express because I wanted to try the butternut squash soup. Unfortunately, it was not what I was expecting. It tasted just like what it was--pureed squash, nothing else. :sad2:

Looked so yummy, too!

I ended up leaving most of the bowl uneaten because it was just not good (and that says alot, it's not often that I'll throw away perfectly good food not to mention it wasn't cheap).

From there I went to the Pick a Pearl and picked out a pearl that I had put on a pendant for my oldest daughter.

My original plan was to have a pair of TOMS customized for her, but in the end I chose to let her do that herself when we come back in June.

I was still hungry so gave Earl of Sandwich another try. The place was packed (again) but the line moved pretty quickly. I couldn't decide which kind to order so I ordered the BLT which was a bit salty and the Caprese which was good but not great. I saved the majority of the BLT (minus one bite!) for the plane ride home.

After finishing the Caprese and wandering around some more I figured I might as well head to the airport. I checked the rental car in and then checked my seriously heavy bag in (I was worried I was over the weight limit, but thankfully it passed) before going to the gate and waiting for flight #1.

I had an aisle seat with noone in the middle and the flight was uneventful. We made it to San Antonio early and I was able to get up and stretch my legs before we headed to Phoenix.

The flight to Phoenix wasn't quite as pleasant. I stayed in my aisle seat but both the other sears were filled. The guy in the middle reminded me of this weird guy I dated (sadly twice, in my defense I wanted to give him a second chance!). This guy was freaking out about flying. Not good! I was so happen when we landed in Phoenix and I could get off that plane. I made my way over to my new gate and the plane was actually on time. The flight wasn't full so I had the entire row to myself! I finally arrived home a little before 10pm.

It was a great vacation, but I'm glad that the kids and I are going back in June :cool1: .

Glad you had a great trip.:goodvibes I think flying across the country to go solo is pretty cool of you. I love WDW but I don't know if I would do it. More power to you though.:thumbsup2

I was just thinking, I've never really even gone to DLR by myself. :confused3Unless you count the (many) times during their 40th anniversary (1995) when I would stop by on my way home from work to go into the park to get my anniversary card. Luckily DCA wasn't built yet and you could usually park right up front and I would fast walk to where they gave the cards out and then leave. I don't think I rode even one ride by myself. :confused3

Now that I have a DD, I know she would be upset with me if I was to ever go by myself. I guess if I ever do, it'll have to be a secret! ;)

Well I did start out going to DL by myself. When my EX and I first separated I decided to buy the mondo DL pass and went to DL when the kids were gone or I just needed a pick me up. I don't actually ride that many rides by myself but I love walking around, shopping, and of course eating!

I actually was going to buy the Premier pass on this trip, but I found out that it would expire in October when my Southern CA pass expires (so NOT worth $700 for that long).
