Wow! Here goes nothing!
Ok, so I had every intention of doing a trip report for our October 07 trip. Well one thing lead to another and a year had passed before I even thought again about writing it. So I didn't.
I'm not all that funny, and I do make frequent spelling and grammar mistakes, so let me apologize in advance!
Let me jump in and introduce myself and my family. We're really not as unbalanced as this trip report may perceive us to be...or maybe we are?
Me: Late 20something WAHM to 2 wonderfully silly children. I own my own business and work when the kids are at school. I grew up going to DW and Disney Land a lot. My dad worked for the airlines so we always had great vacations as a child/teenager. I was recently diagnosed with ADD, so if my trip reports come thru at 1pm when both my kids are at school and I'm hyped up on Adderall, pray for yourselves. I'm sure to be long winded or written...whatever.
DH: Even LATER 20something.
He's such a playful and hard working guy. He's a great father. He was to Disney World once when he was a child. His family always drove and camped for vacations. He said they went to the Magic Kingdom, stayed for a couple of hours and then headed off to Kennedy Space Center.
How can you only spend a couple of hours at MK?
I was scared he wouldn't become as Disney-fied as me, but alas I was wrong and he does indeed love Disney (though I think I might love it just a tiny bit more
).
DS6: Will be turning 7 on the trip. His favorites since as far back as I can remember are Buzz & Woody. He loves Toy Story and Toy Story 2 and cannot wait for #3 to come out. He's in 1st grade and LOVES everything about school...especially lunch time. No, seriously, on one of his "My favorite things about school" stories were "Lunch-Time".
DD4: Silly, fun loving, VERY free-spirited girl. She can hang with the older boys, but she's a princess at heart. She loves all the Disney Princesses. I do think Tinkerbell is her favorite though. She's in Pre-school 5 days a week and loves it also.

So the day they announced the 4/3 deal I was on the phone. I called right at 4pm I think, got thru within 15 minutes and reserved ASMo for 3/18-3/25, put the deposit down and waited.
We knew DH would be getting a bonus and figured it would be best to pay it off with cash. It started getting REALLY close to the 45 day mark and the bonus wasn't here yet. So on our 46th day I called and cancelled.
I was SUPER sad, but knew as soon as I knew when the bonus would come thru I'd be able to call back and get a new ressie. That is until he was told at work that the bonus wasn't coming until March, but at least we had a set date.
For 2 weeks I worked numbers, and dates and more numbers, ran a pen dry and had about a dozen 3x5 note cards filled with different scenarios, until I finally came up with our current res; 5/6-5/13 ASMo with a PIN for $500. Which is the better deal for us I think. DS will turn 7 on 5/12. Mothers Day is on the 10th, what more can we ask for?
The kids have absolutely no idea that we're going. None what-so-ever. And I'd like to keep it that way until we land in Orlando...or at least board the plane in Chicago!
I did ask DS if we went to Disney on one of his birthdays if it would be ok if we just had a small family party at home with relatives and he could pick 3 friends. He agreed that it would work for him.
I mentioned that it would either be for his 8th or 9th birthday. He then chimed in with "How about for my 7th birthday?" I said "Oh honey, mommy wouldn't have time to plan a trip that soon!"
So when we get back we'll have a small party here for him, I'd love to do it before since a lot of my family gives cash, but I don't want anyone to spill the beans...or...Magic, yeah spill the Magic.
This of course was discussed at the dinner table where DD decided SHE had to have a birthday at Disney World too, so I promised her that whatever birthday her brother got to do at Disney she would too, so for sure we'll be going in Feb 2012 when she turns 7.
