We are planning a trip to WDW for next week(yes next week) and I found this hotel. It is 51.75 a night with our AAA discount and we are trying to go the cheapest route!

Does anyone know anything about this place? I can't really find anything about it but I did call the hotel and they were very friendly on the phone!

Thanks to anyone who can help!!!

Wish me luck on planning!

Oh and ANY cheap ideas are welcomed(we are driving from Houston, TX to WDW in one day with 2 young kids, staying 2 days and driving back!)

Thanks again!

Stephanie

I came looking for similar questions - and I see you never got an answer. Ebay has a 5nt stay in a studio w/breakfast buffet and 2 tickets for $149 if we sit through the 90 minute presentation. Wanted to see if the Inn, buffet, and stress from the sale was worth it.

Here's hoping for an answer.................

If this is the resort in Kissimee......it used to be owned by Vistana. When Sheraton/Starwood took over Vistana, they did not continue on with this resort. It was never as popular as the Vistana was and struggled to keep the rooms at full occupancy. I think, in part, this was due to poor management and some housekeeping issues. But they are under a new owner/management now, so things may have changed.
It get mostly average to good ratings on trip advisor. A few negative ones.
Here is the website : http://www.oakplantationresort.com/

and trip advisor : http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...-Oak_Plantation_Resort-Kissimmee_Florida.html

For the price you probably won't do badly. I think it's about 20 min to wdw approximately. I've never stayed here personally, but recall reports from other posters. I've heard the grounds are very nice with bbq grills and picnic tables scattered around.

I give you alot of credit for driving from TX straight thru with two children and only staying 2 days !!! Not sure I would venture this.
I wish you luck and a nice (albeit short) trip.

That part of Kissimmee got a little rough when most of the Osceola Square Mall closed down. It's not the best neighborhood to get out and walk around in, especially if you aren't familiar with where you're going. I have a friend who lived in an apartment complex less than a quarter mile from Oak Plantation and the drug dealing got so bad, he had to move out. It is a gated resort, so I'm not saying that you would be in danger while you're in the resort. It's just not in the best neighborhood.

Thanks, Maria & fla4fun...... I have not been on that part of 192 in a long time and did not know that the Mall had closed. The reviews were not that bad for the Inn. Mostly about the noise and I always carry an air freshener to drown the noise (my husband snores). I think it is a really good price. Anyone stayed there lately....? How about the breakfast buffet (not bagels) that they show in the ebay auction?

It is an older resort so there may be some maintenance issues. It is also quite a drive from all the parks. You might want to pay a little more for something closer and nicer. It is probably not worth sitting through a sales presentation.

Ok so we stayed here back in May and it was ok. It was really cheap and you could tell. Some lights didn't work and the light switch was attached to the wall with electrical tape! Here is the real kicker....

Someone(we suspect the housekeeping) stole our identity!!!

Yup!

I only had a few temporary checks on me just in case we couldn't use our debit card for some reason. I always use a card and NEVER use checks! I kept my purse with me the whole time except when we went to the pool twice but the scariest part is that I went back to our room each time to get something while we were at the pool!

We were there in May and in June we had someone in Florida who made fake checks with my info on it and were paying their cell phone bills and bought car parts. It all came up to about $600 but luckily we caught it in time and disputed the charges and we weren't out any money but the police there had the people's name, addressses, liscense plate numbers...everything but wouldn't do anything since we are in Texas!!!

I would just be cautious! I didn't even think about my purse and the checks becasue none were missing...they apparently copied down the numbers!!!

Good luck if anyone tries to stay here!

Stephanie

We cancelled our stay there after I read horrible reviews. Just didn't want to take the chance.

The Inn is actually separate from the timeshare, but can access the amenities at the timeshare.
We stayed at the Oak Plantation in August. I won a week at a 2 bedroom unit for a total of $317 including all taxes and fees. The unit itself was fine...a little cheap in terms of the quality of the appliances, but suited our needs just fine. The tile in the bathrooms needed some attention. The laundry room was wonderful. The kids had their own bathroom.
That being said, our unit was entered via a back entrance and it was kind of dark and was close to the access from the motel section right off 192. I was afraid to enter and leave the unit by myself....even in the daytime. I just did not feel comfortable with how the entrance was positioned. While the amount of space was great, I would not stay there again. I like to feel safe enough to walk around by myself and I just did not feel safe there.

Wow thanks a lot for the reviews, Satwood and Mrsg00fy. :thumbsup2 I had been curious about the Inn at Oak Plantation and I am SO glad that I read your reviews. This is now on my Never Ever list.

I would not stay in that area. As a previous poster suggested, it's become a heavy drug area, and there's been a lot of minor crime to go with it. It's also quite a poke from WDW--it could easily take an hour with the traffic you'll be fighting through there.

For about $20 more a night, I'd suggest the Comfort Suites Maingate. It's in a MUCH nicer/safer area, about two minutes to the Sherbeth Road entrance to WDW, and has a nice continental breakfast included--which will make up a good part of the difference in cost. It's a newer resort, and a co-worker stayed there last year and said it was very clean and comfortable.

I am going to say the same as others have said. I lived in that area of Kissimmee back in 2000 and when I moved in it wasn't bad, but I moved out in 2003 because it was starting to go downhill. I never stayed at the Oak Plantation but always wondered why they kept their property so poorly lit. Now it was years ago so that might have change.

Also, while technically, it is only about 20 minutes from WDW, in reality, it could take much longer with traffic and lights. I agree with those who say to stay closer to WDW....traffic on 192 is awful!
