The Infamous Dole Whip?

Anyone care to wax poetical about this much talked about creation? Or better yet, a picture is worth 1000 words they say, can anyone show me what it looks like? What makes the Dole Whip so great?

After hearing so much about the dole whips I was prepared to fall in love. I didn't ......it was not that great.

I decided that maybe I had a "bad batch" so I tried it again but this time I decided to put a twist on it and try a DOLE FLOAT with pineapple juice. It was love!

Basically it looks like a soft serve icecream. I really enjoy the pineapple/vanilla swirl. In fact recently in DL I was planning to get one and found they only have pineapple, no vanilla. It just wasnt as good. For me, I need the vanilla to even out the pineapple flavor. But I'm sure some people prefer all pineapple.

I waited in line last week to get one (for about 15 minutes) because of allthe hub-bub here on the boards. I thought it was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Bring back the Beavertails at Epcot!

It's basically pineapple softserve (or pineapple vanilla swirl) I, too, prefer the *float* version on top of ice cold fresh tasting pineapple juice. Part of what makes it so great is the fact that everytime I get one, I am hot, thirsty and *in the Magic Kingdom!* It's not a gourmet dessert, or something incredibly different, but its sweet, refreshing, tasty and a tradition for me- something like "my-dad's-stuffing-on-Thanksgiving" feeling to it- comforting, I guess, is what I want to say.
There's a pic of the float on the affectionately termed "food porn" thread. ("Post Disney Dining Pics Here") but I've been skimming and I can't find it now. If I catch it, I'll return to post the page number.

We just came back the end of September and I had been reading lots about the Dole Whips and of course I had to try one. My friend got the Dole Whip ice cream which was just like a soft serve and she said it was okay. I decided to try the Dole Whip Float which I really liked. It had pineapple juice in the bottom which was very refreshing and the ice cream on the top. We got them and had a fast pass and realized we had to be at the ride in 5 minutes so I ate it so fast that I didn't remember eating it really. Wish I had more time to really enjoy it....but what I remember of it...it was really good.

I tried the Pineapple Float for the first time last week and it won me over! It was sooo yum!

I also really liked the float. I was not impressed with the chocolate/vanilla dole whip. I had read about how wonderful the pineapple dole whip was before our trip and was really looking forward to trying one. We were in WDW on an extremely hot day this August and my husband got in a rather long line to get us some dole whips. I didn't realize they came in more than pineapple flavor, and he came back with my chocolate/vanilla "dual whip." Luckily we got to try out the pineapple float a few days later and really liked it.

I agree about the Dole Whip. We went in 2003, and after reading about them all over this board, we decided we had to have them....and we very disappointed.

Other than that, the DIS has not steered me wrong!!!

Just like anything else in this world ~ some people like them, some do not. I love them yet in my family of 4, I am the only one who does. It is basically Dole pinapple-flavored soft serve ice cream. I love them since I love pineapple and have never seen anything local (and we have quite a few ice cream places where I live) such as pineapple soft serve. It's one of those things to try if you care to. There is also a place in WDW that serves a soft serve orange ice scream that I have read about. It sounds interesting as well.

We had Dole whip at the Dole Plantation on Oahu and it sounds like it's not any different... I was in the mood for some soft-serve / ice cream that would scream "Pineapple!" and was given something that if you focused you tastebuds you might be able to call "pineapple-ish." I didn't try it as a float with pineapple juice, but that may be what it takes to get the flavor I'd want.

It's just pineapple flavored soft serve. Not really anything exciting. You don't list your location, but they have them every year at the State Fair of TX so I've had them before there. They might have them at other fairs, too.
