Hey girl!! Just checking in to see how the packing is going? I'm pretty sure that's probably what you're up to today....or at least doing Have fun....I love packing and getting ready, so I'm living through you this weekend!!

Hi there!! The packing is coming along nicely... everything is laid out and ready to go in the suitcase. Picked up an extra pack of socks so I'm all ready!! I really can't believe that next week at this time I will have already had a full day in the MK!!!!!

five days left!!!! how is the last minute preparations going??

Last minute preparations are going great! Found out my DD is off of work all week so we will have lots of time to get things together. She is helping me with the surprise so I really can't wait to see how the boys like everything!

Well, only 5 more sleeps and we're on our way! I'm so excited!!!!

Thanks for sticking around ladies- it certainly helps having people to share in my excitement (not that they aren't around here) but nobody 'gets it' like us DISers!

Well, like you said things are definitely getting in order now. I have all of my stuff packed, just need to finish DS' packing, but we have it all laid out so it shouldn't be too bad.

Well, it's the night before and we are mostly ready. It ended up that my DD's boyfriend has a dinner tonight for the Marines as part of the welcoming process. Sooo... my DD had a brilliant idea and we decided to go ahead and give the boys their surprises last night! Here they are...

My DS- I asked him to hold up his shirt... and he held up the wrong one. So, you can at least see his enthusiasm though!

DD's boyfriend- as soon as he saw his shirt in the bottom of his bag he dropped everything else and pulled this out and was super happy to see Jack Skellington on his shirt!

Well, here I am, back to reality. I won't be able to do an update today but hopefully by tomorrow. I haven't even begun to unpack, charge the camera, download pics, etc etc...

We didn't get home until Saturday night (Sunday morning) at 2am Then with yesterday being Easter we had to go to the store, make a ham and some side dishes, and then we took everything to the park in the afternoon for a picnic with the family. Then we went to the movie store and came home and watched Sherlock Holmes. It's amazing how good it can feel to just veg out and watch a movie after being on the go every day!

I will say this, it was truly a wonderful trip. There were certainly some unmagical moments but for the most part it was just what I was hoping for. DD's boyfriend LOVED IT (as if there was any doubt ) and we certainly all enjoyed the time together.

As I said before, I hope to get an update done by tomorrow- hope everyone is doing well!

Well I need to apologize first off for taking so long to get to this!! It seems like everything possible is going against me... first off, I couldn't get my pics to download onto my computer, then I found that I didn't even have any from the first day... so I ask DBF to download his, and THAT didn't work! Then, last night I'm firing up my computer all set to at least write something, and NO INTERNET!!

I'm telling you, it's just not been my week. I'm writing today from work so I don't have much time, but it is my solemn swear to at the very least tell you all about our trip down and our first day by the end of this weekend!!!

So where do I start??

At the beginning I suppose... it was a very cold morning when we woke up that Friday at about 5:45am. There was actually SNOW on the ground! Chad and I went to the airport to pick up our van and it had to be uncovered and cleaned up still so that took about 15 minutes and then we were on our way.

So we get back to the house and the kids are all ready to go- they are just bouncing off the walls with excitement!! We loaded up the van and then stopped at McDonald's first for some breakfast. We got on I-70 over to I-75 around 7:45am. We got nearly to downtown Dayton when I asked my DD if she had remembered her and DBF's tickets... well, she forgot.

We had to get off of the highway and took Main St. all the way back up to our house (about 15-20 min drive), stopped at an atm, got the tickets, got some ice, and were back on the road. By this time it was about 9am.

Oh well, we were happy we had remembered before we had gotten too far away. Well we were moving along nicely and got down to Cincinnati when I was reminded of 'Spaceship Earth!' I saw this:

Pretty cool.

Anyway, the trip was pretty uneventful. We listened to music, ate snacks, napped, etc. Then we stopped at Sonic for lunch, while my girl and her bf went to Subway. Then we got on the road for a few more hours. We got to Atlanta around 5pm and headed downtown for our dinner. We were headed to Gladys Knight and Ron Wynan's Chicken and Waffles!

There was a 30 minute wait but I really don't think we waited that long. The atmosphere was pure soul and the pictures on the wall told the story of Gladys Knight and Ron Wynan's music and friends. We had an amazing meal.

The kids ordered wings, and Dbf had a baked piece of chicken:

The sauce on DS' wings was just delicious!

Chad and I shared a veggie plate with yams, collard greens, mac and cheese and hashbrown casserole- yum!

And of course we shared CHICKEN AND WAFFLES- soooo goooood!!!!

And in case you missed that:

This goes without saying but I highly recommend this place. We tried their sweet potato cheesecake and it is probably the best cheesecake I've ever eaten. So moist and light, not so dense like most cheesecakes, but in a perfect sort of way. The pic wouldn't download yet, but if I get it to I will post it. You have to see this cheesecake to believe it- it is delicious!!

We were back on the road after dinner, for 4 more hours! Then we made it to the Hampton Inn in Valdosta. It was a nice place to stay for the night. Very comfortable beds and a decent breakfast.

That's all I have time for right now... but I'll be back soon with our first day in Disney!!!

I have only heard of that restaurant and now want to be able to eat there....that chicken, those waffles, just the thought of the cheesecake
