The "I don't want to wait longer than 20 minutes" trip report

Cape Cod dinner sounded really good, but you must not have been too hungry after fish n' chips at 3pm.

LOL Sandra,

I don't do queuing either - so DLRP at weekends and high season is out for me :goodvibes !

Luckily, there are plenty other times we can go to avoid the hours-long queuing.

Great trip report - how lucky to be able to just jump in the car and head off for the weekend!

Cape Cod dinner sounded really good, but you must not have been too hungry after fish n' chips at 3pm.

I am always hungry
Also: fish and chips at 3 and then dinner at 9 => that's 6 hours in between!!! I just prefer eating "real" food over dessert (the horror, I know), and therefore I had 3 plates of appetizer (oops), 1 plate of main course and no dessert. There was chocolate mousse, iles flottantes, flan caramel, etc etc etc, but I don't like all that. Fresh fruit => way too healthy! ;)
I like the bavarois they sometimes have, but it wasn't there at Cape Cod that day.

That's what I like about buffets: If you only want to eat appetizers, you can do that, no one forces you to eat something else too ;)

Sounds like you had a really nice time.

Can I ask what are the Keel boats and also the buffet at Cape Cod, is it fish based as I don't like that much fish and thought it a place to be avoided like the blue lagoon?

Keel boats are rather small boats that do the same "trip" as the big ships. However, the skipper tells jokes about the things you can see. It's really good.

But, you have to know French, since they tell the jokes in French. And many of the jokes are actually puns, so you need a good French knowledge to "get" it. But other than that, it's a nice ride!

Cape Cod is not a fish restaurants. It's completely buffet-style.
Let me think whet they had.

Appetizer section:
- there was vegetable soup with croutons
- all sorts of rabbit food (carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, ...)
- Salade aux perles: it is a salad of I don't know what and it tasted like crab. I love this, it's my favourite, my mom doesn't like it.
- Russian eggs
- peel and eat shrimp
- mozzarella with tomatoes
- goat cheese rolled in prosciutto
- sliced meats (ham, chorizo, ...)
- terrine aux poissons (fish terrine? I love it!)
- Some smoked fish
- tortilla chips with ???
- pizza
- other things that I forgot

For main courses there was:
- a huge roast that they carve
- some porc stew, very good
- salmon in a red pepper sauce
- chicken in a three-pepper sauce
Other times, there was duck, very very good.

There was rice with spinach, pasta with a provencale sauce, roasted potatoes, garlic bread, some vegetables, ...

Kid's section: I think fish and chips, pasta, ... Didn't really look into it.

Dessert section: flan caramel, ile flottante, chocolate mousse, gateau au citron, jello, fresh fruits, ...
previous times, there have been crepes suzette, bavarois, ice cream, ...

We like this restaurant because there is a lot of choice, the servers are nice and the food is good.

That Cape Cod menu sounds amazing, I love Fish Terraine :lovestruc

I also like the sound of the Timon and Pumba's 'something' from Cafe Mickey.

You wouldn't think I'd just had lunch when all I post about is food!!

I like the sound of your mum's meal at Cafe Mickey. Mmmmmmm. :goodvibes

Shame about the weather but you still had a great trip.

Roll on Thursday when you get your keys. :thumbsup2

I think it was called Timon and Pumba's surprise or something. All the meals there have some character name. I don't really see the link between Timon and Pumba and seafood... but then, if there needs to be a link, they should serve slime and bugs I guess!

The fish terrine at Cape Cod is very good, and it has layers! It's not the same "flavor" all over, but in layers. I can taste it right now.... No wonder I will always weigh way too much

I am very stressed for the appartment.
Last week, my mom went there, because the people from the "anti-burglar door" came to measure up, and the current owner came to open up and to show that veerything is empty/ appliances are working. They said they regretted selling it. So, I hope they won't change their minds about it! What would I do with all the stuff that I already bought??
My mom is sick of having in her corridor:
- a microwave (huge box)
- a vacuum (big box)
- slats (electrical, so I can put my feet up in bed!)
- 3 sets of tableware (for 8 people each)
- pots and pans
- light fixtures
- ...

The whole familyis counting the days until the corridor won't look like an adventure trail anymore (you have to practically climb over everything to reach the living room/ kitchen/ stairs/ ...)

A good thing is: I haven't changed my mind about the colours that I'll use. It's still passionata (some sort of red) and Nevada (something white-ish) in the living room, Oregano in the hallway and light/ dark blue in the bedroom. Oh, and orange in the kitchen!

I will keep my fingers crossed that everything goes OK. You will have to post up before and after photos in the Mousecellaneous thread once you've decorated. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

, Once there, we put our sweater and fleece in a plastic bag and gave it to consignment => first time we used this, but it was very practical!

what service is this can anyone use it ?my lot hate to carry jackets around i aways have bag full of stuff (donkey)

I'm planning to start a thread, maybe in the Home interior board or so.

I started writing a blog... in Word, can't post it from here at work, and can't open Word documents at my PC at home => frustrating!

But I will need a place to vent. My dad can do almost every remodelling thing, but you need a lot of patience, and I can't bring up patience around him. A lot of yelling has already occurred, and the remodelling hasn't even started yet. I'll need that place to vent in order to keep my sanity!
Oh well, worst case scenario: I go a weekend to DLP! ;)

Im the local donkey when it comes to jackets and fleeces can anyone use this service how does it work

I'm with you on the queues, especially since my DD HATES them!

I dont know why that DLRP cant get the ''FAST'' bit of the fast food process ,if there are only a couple of people in front of you it can take forever just to get a ice lolly or a drink ,or if you want a hot dog and fries you can be there forever ,is it just me who finds this sooooo frustrating

I know, it's amazing.

As a transformation consultant, I made following observations:
there are two causes for it going so slow:
1. the guests. If you are 45 minutes waiting to order your food, you should know what you want by the time you have to order. If by then, when it's your turn, you still don't know what you and the 15 people accompanying you want, you have a problem.

2. Disney hasn't optimized its operations.
This starts with the fact that you don't have to be smart to work there. I don't mean everyone needs a college degree. Just some minimal common sense/ knowledge/ being able to count. Not everyone is like that. Unfortunately.
Next to that, those counters are set up in a wrong way. When there is more than 1 person behind the counter, they run into each other.
What I don't get is why it works pretty well in the US but not at Paris.

Example: a sandwich. At Earl of Sandwich, you have a custom-made sandwich is a fraction of time. At DLP, it takes forever to get a pre-packaged one. It doesn't help that the cashier also has to make the hot drinks (including cappucino with the whipped cream) etc.

It's really strange. Oh well.

Great report - hope the weather is better next week!

Oh, btw, the restaurant Manhattan has changed menu, it's now an Italian-inspired restaurants.
I took pictures of the menu (people think I'm really crazy), and I'll also post those!

We also took a photo of the menu to post so you're not the only one who's mad!!!
We had booked to eat there but changed our mind and cancelled the reservation

Great report Sandra. We were there at the same time (we left about 4.30 on Saturday) and noticed the difference in the crowds on the Saturday.
Normally we dont queue either but really wanted to ride POC one last time before we left so did queue but at least it moved quite quickly. We also managed to FP BTM twice so avoided the queues for that one.
