The "I Didn't Have To Cook For 8 Days" DDP review ... 10/13 - 10/20

I am so glad you had a good experience at Chefs de France! We booked it for our CP dinner, and I've been so nervous about it ever since. I keep reading bad reviews, but to me it seems to be the most interesting of all the CP packages available.
I'm really enjoying reading your dining report. Thanks again for posting!

Maybe with the movie coming out and the F&W fest. with the same theme...maybe they did some shuffling around and got the place back up to par...

I liked France the first time I ate there but wasn't too thrilled in 2005. I think I may like to try it for lunch next time.

Thanks for the review - We will be there in a couple of weeks and the bad reviews popping up have been scaring me :scared1: But its good to know they aren't the rule!

OMG, I don't know where to start. I just read all ten pages of your dining review. I have to agree with you on the chocolate thing. I have read so many things about the places you've eaten at I don't know what to comment on. I will say that everything looked very yummy. Definately some places I plan on going to when we go (not until 2009).

The Columbia Harbor House review is coming! Since I’m still in the process of writing it, I thought that I’d do an easy review about the World’s most famous (and maybe favorite?) snack place – The Aloha Aisle!

The next day brought is to the MK for the Little Ones Extra Magic Hour.

I was excited about this since we could get on all of the Fantasyland rides we wanted to in one hour. The kids could’ve cared less about seeing the characters, so we decided to concentrate on the rides which would generate the longest lines later on in the day.

I’ll write more in depth about our MK day in my trip report, but DD was lucky enough to be able to ride with Stitch on Dumbo, one of her fav rides:

I was hungry, hot and thirsty after arriving so early and seeing so much, so I knew there was one thing I wanted for a snack – a DOLE WHIP FLOAT!!!! Handsome was still feeling the effects of eating a very large and rich dinner at Chefs the evening before, so all he was interested in eating was a pineapple spear, the only food he ended up eating all morning. Since we were in Adventureland we meandered our way over to the Aloha Aisle to satisfy our culinary needs.

Then we encountered a serious problem – the Aloha Aisle was closed and there were no signs telling us when it opened. We nabbed a nearby CM and asked him about it, and being that it was only his second day working in the MK, he wasn’t sure. His “guide to things” didn’t say either, so we surmised that it would open at 11:00. It was now 9:45. That’s a long time to wait!

But wait we did since we had no other choice. But eventually 11:00 did roll around and we purchased our snacks:

Now, that’s one heck of a pineapple spear! I was thinking it’d be some tiny slice of pineapple that would make us roll our eyes, but I’d say that this was well worth the $1.25 price.

And the Dole Whip Float? It needs no further explanation. It went with us on the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, which had a surprisingly long line. I wish they hadn’t turned the treehouse at Disneyland into a Tarzan theme. I always loved the SFR theme so much. At least I can visit it at the Magic Kingdom.

And seeing it while eating a Dole Whip Float – all the better!

How cool that DD got to ride with Stitch:cool1: I am almost ashamed to admit this but here goes, I have never had a Dole Whip float and from the picture it looks like I have been missing a lot. I have heard so much about those drinks and said to myself :confused3 but the picture says it all. That will definately be on the to drink list next visit.

DisneyLaura,

I had never had a float before this trip. I've only had the Dole Whips at Disneyland, but let me tell you, the float is heavenly! It's especially nice when you're hot because you get the ice cream treat along with something good and nutritious to drink. This is definitely tops on my snack list for our next trip, whenever that may be.

You'll be hooked, too!

It was good, but I liked mine better :), the traditional Kjottkake meal (that's a bit of Jarlsberg cheese left over from the cold food buffet):

This was very tasty. I asked our server what flavored the meat, and he said it was just beef, pork, leek, salt & pepper formed into a pattie and thrown onto the grill. I make Swedish potato sausage – Potatis Korv – every Christmas, which consists of pork, veal, beef, potatoes, onions, salt, pepper & allspice, and this Kjottkake was nothing like this. It was so different, and very flavorful. I’ll have to try to make it sometime.

I LOVED the Kjottkaker when I had it last year! It was my favorite meal from a Disney restaurant during my trip.

OH MY GOODNESS ! I CANNOT wait to try a Dole Whip Float (and a regular Whip)! That looks AMAZING! Pineapples are my favorite fruit and that float looks like something out of an Ad. Thank you so much for posting that picture. 9 more days and I'll have my Dole Whip (Float)!

Your reviews have been terrific! Thank you for taking the time to put them together. I keep telling my self that I will take pictures and maybe a few notes at our upcoming meals and I hope I wind up doing it, lol.

Thanks!

Wow, we leave in two weeks and your food porn has made me consider changing a few of our ADR's. :earsboy: I guess I will be on the phone with the Disney people today. Gotta wait for the kids to head outside to play since it is all a surprise for them. :rolleyes1
Thank you for such a great report.:worship:

:offtopic: I just noticed that I finally earned Mouseketeer status! Yippee, I earned my ears finally! pixiedust: pixiedust: Yippee!!!!!

That's a good reason to do a happy dance! Congratulations!!!

 :dance3: :yay: :dancer: :jumping1: :mickeyjum

And have a fantastic time on your trip.

And for the rest of you, I'm hoping to have my next installment up soon. I've seem to run out of time to work on it with all the Christmas prep I'm doing!

Good to hear a good CdeF review, I must say the kids meals there look really good too!

Uncle Patrick (I sure hope that was his name!) was our server and I was thrilled that he really didn’t get into the role too terribly much of being a nagging Uncle. I think that I was a bit worn out from our non-stop commando schedule thus far to have wanted to play along.

That was the server we had! The one I felt was the most boring server in all of serverdom. He didn't play the part at all when he waited on us. It seemed like when he found out we weren't on the dining plan he didn't know what to say to us, and he didn't want to be bothered wasting his breath trying to sell us anything (upselling shakes or apps or anything) He never brought us the dessert menu thingy, we had to borrow one from the next table. He also took FOREVER to bring back our check so we could finish payng...I think he had our CC for almost 10 minutes, kid you not. Grumpy had time to take the kids to the bathroom and come back before he returned it.

Thank you for posting his picture/name. At least when I go back in January I can ask to please not have him as our server. I'm not saying that to be mean, I just went in with much higher hopes. Luckily the pot roast and smores more than made up for the lousy service we had. We also enjoyed watching people at other tables get in trouble.
