Me (25) 6th Disney Trip.
Elizabeth (27) 5th Disney Trip
For the last two trips we have had Team Disney hoodies but with it being so cold my mum knitted us matching scarves. Mines purple, Lizs is blue.
Day 0. Saturday 29th January
Easy trip from Manchester to London, we saw An Ideal Husband at the Vaudeville and Barbershopera at the Trafalgar Studios and we stayed in the Royal Scott Travelodge in Kings Cross.
Day 1: Sunday January 30th
Alarm at 7. Eurostar depot by 8. Depart by 9 Arrive just after 1!
Having gone to Disney in September/October for the past three years running it seemed very odd to be going in January. The whole notion of staying in the DLH was too odd to get our heads round. You have to walk the other way! You dont go through the Disney Village. It was all like some sort of (awesome) dream!
We entered the DLH (having never been in it before) and the smell!!! I had no idea it had a special smell. Like expensive sweet powder. A real lovely Nana smell.
And then we got to our room (1044). And we ran around like excited children looking at all the things we got in the room. Ive only stayed in the Cheyenne before (and one night in the HNY). We were delighted to find robes and slippers and all the toiletries. And how beautiful and big the room was and the beds and EVERYTHING! I sat down to ring my Dad which means I usually get in the way of Lizs photo taking!
We were on the ground floor so our room opened onto a little veranda bit with grass and it was very nice!
We left for the park delighted by how near it is to the hotel and walked up main street for the first time. I remember the first time I ever came here it was a beautiful day, and I had no idea what to expect and just starred at everything on main street and took in the view of the castle and the music. Just magical (I was 20 years old at the time!!). The traditional mucking about on Main Street picture!
We headed for our traditional first ride. Pirates! We went on the tea cups,
Snow White and Pinochio and we used our hotel fast passes for Peter Pan as it was going to be closed the other days of our trip.
We had thought about eating at Walts even checked out the menu as we walked up Main Street but when we returned it was closed. So we headed for Plaza Gardens as we knew its an awesome buffet.
And it DID NOT disappoint. We had salad and cous cous, pasta salad, olives, gherkins, cheese, spicy sausage, cheesey potatoes, tuna steak, veggies, chips, one chicken nugget (*** you can!!) and then jelly, choc mousse, choc cake and pancakes.
We fast passed BTM and went on Pirates twice (we aim to go on this ride as many times as possible). We went on Phantom Manor and then BTM which is great in the dark.
We walked over to Buzz. When we were on it the ride stopped but of course you can keep shooting. So I got an incredible score!
We went back to the hotel as the park was closing and we explored the hotel. Its just fantastic, we stopped at all the sofas just to sit on them and absorb the ambience.
Sadly, the pool was still shut. It was meant to be reopening while we were there so we had an idea that it might not be open. We werent too disappointed and Liz used the little gym a few mornings (I did the sensible thing and had a lie in)
We visited the shop to buy a massive bag of crisps! And then returned to our room to put on our robes, and eventually go to sleep.
Heres a question you know the Fairy Tales on the television, where it tells you the story of Beauty and the Beast / Tarzan etc. Does anyone ever use them or get them working? Last year on out first night we heard one and they never worked again. Anyone shed any light??
Day 2 5 coming soon.
