Did everyone enjoy their day off thanks to our ANZACs?

I know I sure did, but now I really don't want to go back to work for the next 2 days!

Karen - when I 1st saw minnie moo's pic I didn't realise it was on it's side and I thought "How'd she get it stuck on the wall!?!"

:lmao:

LOL @ "how'd she get it stuck on the wall?" :rotfl:

becpee -- i have ribbon that matches your ticker perfectly... that usa themed mickey heads -- so adorable :)

i felt fine for most of yesterday, but spent the night vomiting. carlo woke up with the worst head cold he's experienced in quite a while, so we're both feeling distinctly under the weather.

but... it's back to the grindstone for both of us... those disney trips don't pay for themselves you know, and we most definitely didn't win lotto.

here's hoping that our tax returns are decently substantial this year :)

My DH and I are home today with the mother of all flu's....good now I can tell him I caught it off Disboards pirate:

re Moo..she's damn lucky she wasn't stuck in the wall AFTER the tissue extravaganza...i'm currently checking out boarding schools for naughty schnauzers princess:
Today she got onto our bed, and took DH's ear plugs.....nice chew was had...DH not amused...I was :rotfl:

That's like a lady I work with - she thinks it's hilarious when her puppy takes her husband's socks for a run about the house, but it's not so funny when they're her socks :rotfl:

Hope you're feeling better.

You're in good company. I still have bronchitis. Can you hear me coughing all the way over there?

Just got my power bill :scared1:

$456 :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

Just had a telemarketer ring, so I got DS6 to answer the phone.

Caller: "Are you the home owner?"
DS: "Yes"
Caller: "I'm calling from insuranceline, are you the home owner"
DS: "Yes"
Caller: "Can I speak to your mum and dad?"
DS: "They don't live here"
CLUNK

Bahahahaha

'they don't live here' :rotfl:

hilarious!!!

i am so stressing about our trip. for the 2 of us, this next trip is costing us $$$$$.

and aside from a few deposits & our tickets (disneyland entry) paid for, we have no money saved at all. our carefully laid plans for savings every week were blown out by my hospital expenses and so much unpaid leave from my work...

now i have 30 weeks to pull it together, rely on tax returns, cut out all frivolous spending (including groceries, getting my hair cut & any kind of brand name product) and try and hope and pray that they reduce the prices for our flights and accommodation even further.

wish me luck!!! april is the month i stress the most as it represents the almost 6 month mark (sure, my ticker says 6 months 4 weeks or some such, but that really means 6 mths which is practically 5 mths, which is really just 4 months... see where my head is at right now :furious:

That is the best!!!!! LOVE IT!

Are you on the do not call register? If so you can call and report them :thumbsup2

Back before the do not call register, I turned it around once and tried to sell the person on the phone tupperware! Told them of good deals available at the moment, asked them if they were interested in the current specials, asked if they wanted to book a party. Got them off the phone, they were very confused! :rotfl: PS! I don't sell tupperware :rotfl:

I think the $456 just looks like so much :scared1:
Pretty sure it's average for us, but we haven't been in our new place for a year yet, so we're still settling in, the gas costs us pretty much nothing (although pretty sure winter is here and it'll go up)

I'm trying to come up with new antics for the telemarketers every time, I know somebody that had a telemarketer ring them back just because when they tried to get them off the phone they made them laugh so much :thumbsup2
I get that their job is probably pretty monotonous, i'll liven it up for them :rotfl:

Ours is at least twice that, sometimes three times that :scared1:. So we would be  if we got an electricity bill in the $400's. Don't know why ours is so much :confused3 It just seems to go up and up and up......

Join the governments "do not call register", it's online and the telemarkers can not call you (unless they are a charity). I have reported two who have called me, one they informed me was being fined for not adhereing to the register. I have only had two calls since joining the register 3 years ago :thumbsup2

we are also on it (the DNC register) and do not get calls.. it's great.

the charities are the only ones who are allowed to call you and if i don't feel like supporting them (and we have very specific charities that we do support on a regular basis) then we just politely decline. they are very civilised about it...

i used to get woken at like 2am from an indian call centre wanting to sell me a prepaid mobile with minutes... that happened every day for a week, then once i was on the DNC register (and it takes a few weeks to be added) no more calls at random hours...

that would drive me bonkers :confused3

I had such a good sleep last night, why is it though that whenever you need to get out of bed is when you are the most comfy?

I would be  at that electricity bill too, ours is close to double that. We also got hit with gas (not bad), DS school fees for the term and DD daycare bill for the month, plus dance fees for the term and costume allowance. Gaaahh! The list goes on.....

On a more positive not I am FREAKING OUT!! 2 weeks to go today, infact this time in two weeks we will be just taking off. :scared1::scared1::scared1:
As per usual my two week to go panic has set in and here I am on the DIS. The plan is to write a to do list whilst sitting here.....

What a crazy day! Just got home after leaving home at 8.30am and found that my dog had eaten a whole block of my organic dark chocolate!!!!

So have just had to take him up to the vet as it is apparently very toxic to dogs! They have kept him there to get him to bring the chocolate back up, mind you I don't know when he ate it so he may have already digested it! Hope he's ok, we would be devastated if something happened to him.

Now this was a very expensive delicious orange dark chocolate! I ran into my neighbour and was saying that he couldn't have chosen the cheap block, no, he had to take the expensive block. He then said "well it's a really expensive block now that you have a vet bill on top of it" :rotfl2:

Aussie Karen has a dog that loves tissues, my dog loves chocolate. There was chocolate wrapper all around the house!

I feel your pain, I just had to get Minnie off the coffee table as she was helping herself to the tissue box again....seriously, what is it with this dog???

My other schnauzer Heidi had a thing for chocolate as well, had to take her to the vet easter sunday one year as she found the stash of chocolate eggs before the kids did....now that was an expensive vet bill.

 for the electric bill.

:rotfl2: at your DS. So, where does his mum and dad live, now that he is the home owner. And have you showed him that electric bill that he, as the home owner, has to pay yet?

popcorn::

ps. You might also tell him that sometimes market research companies pay money for completing their surveys and tests. SOME telemarketers represent these research companies....:rotfl:

I can't remember the rules anymore....if you joined 3 years ago, it might pay to check the website to see if you need to re-register. It used to be that you needed to re-register every 3 years.

2 weeks!! :yay:

So, DS comes home from school today, he had a lunch order this morning, and apparently one of the other kids had a bite of the other end of his hot dog while he wasn't looking.
My DS doesn't need any encouragement not to eat his lunch, and also with some of the flu's and viruses going around this disturbs me a little
I wasn't there so I don't know exactly how it happened.
DS told the teacher and the other child had to sit in the reflection room at lunch time (which happens every day apparently).
This child hangs around with another who stole money off my DS and another child in the class :sad2:
Two separate incidents, I spoke to the teacher about the stealing issue to which they replied "we'll deal with it", I asked them later if they had dealt with it and apparently they had.
Would you bother taking this one up with the school?
