The I am a pirate/fireman, I am not a hijacker thread, all about nothing in general

DS wants a pool party this year ( we have a pool) but then I'm thinking which kids would he invite? Do I even want them in my house?
He's in a different class to his friends from last year, so I think, maybe it's like he had to start again friend wise?
I also think the parents don't help, very cliquey bunch, and I don't get involved.
Maybe I should get involved...

Naaa don't want to :p

just get him to invite his old mates.....lifes too short to hang with people you dont like:crazy2:

How old is he Bec? I remember from school that at least until year 3 for what ever reason you were only friends with the people in your class. I still have vivid memories of being read out what classes we were going to be in in year 3 and everyone crying because they couldn't be friends any more :rotfl2:

Our teacher sat us all down and explained that we didn't have to be in the same class to be friends, and we could still play together at lunch time. It wasn't until then that our friends stopped changing every year and we made life long friendships that are still strong today.

Also, I know of one friend who was only allowed to invite friends to her party, if they had invited her to theirs. Possibly that's happening :confused3 So maybe if DS has his pool party other parents will know he's about... maybe..?

**sigh** Krispy Kreme Cake Tower :cloud9: OK, back to the getting fit for your trip thread... :badpc:

Whenever I see a Krispy Kreme, I hear the voice in my head telling me 1KK = 5 laps of the MCG (I don't even know if that's true!). Then I take a bite into one of those suckers and all evil thoughts of running laps to burn off donuts leave my mind.

Eat one...or two...or three for me Karen!

so today i had a panel interview for this job with this finance company.

i have now had:

phone interview
face to face interview
writing test
observation test
verbal reasoning test
numerical reasoning test
abstract reasoning test
personality assessment/test
panel interview

...

omg :crazy2: next step is they notify within 24 hours as to whether they wish to proceed. if they do, they put a recommendation in writing to the executive team who will decide the position to offer, salary and start date.

if they decide not to proceed, i will scream bloody murder.

so much time and effort and money put into attending all of the above. i get that this is standard for a large, multinational company. and i get they want the right fit, and the right person for the job.

but it's just so exhausting when you're the one putting yourself out there, and selling yourself as being awesome. i went today and i had the worst head cold, and i don't even know if i made sense as my head was stuffed with cotton wool, and i don't even know start date or salary or which job they want to offer me.

so frustrating!

although, i did mention our trip next year, and they were totally cool with that, so ... 1 point to them.

on another note... so, so jealous that 1/2 of our corner of the disboard are leaving on a trip in the next few weeks !! i can't wait to read massive, detail oriented, picture heavy, food porn laden TRs when you all get back :)

Wow - what a rigmarole Alicia!! But I'm sure they wouldn't go to those lengths if they didn't think you could fit somewhere!! :confused3 It has to be a cost to them too, I guess.
Sorry to hear you have a cold too - so hard to concentrate when you feel like cr@p!
I'm with you re the trip reports! Looking forward to reading along during/after the various trips. I'll be off then, too - I guess I'll try a trip report - nowhere near as entertaining as the others will be, I'm sure!!!
Fingers crossed for the job!! :thumbsup2

Good luck Alicia :thumbsup2 (God, what a process :crazy2:)

You've all probably heard by now, a Port Adelaide AFL player fell from a balcony at the Flamingo in Vegas.
Very sad :(

Oh no - hadn't heard that one! I'm staying at the Flamingo next month - I didn't even think they had verandahs. How awful, though. Puts it all in perspective, doesn't it?

Good luck Alicia :thumbsup2 (God, what a process :crazy2:)

i didn't think they had balconies either... maybe in some kind of penthouse suite... i thought they went & removed balconies in vegas for that very reason :(

so sad.

on the job note... i figure they have to be invested to put us through all of that too, so... fingers crossed for a soon-ish start and a good wage :)

John McCarthy, 22 years young. Very sad indeed.

Naaa don't want to :p

Be careful with pool parties. Most parents drop off their kids and go and then you're stuck being the lifeguard/supervisor AND trying to organise everything else. Try and get some other adults to help supervise the pool, maybe someone with good water skills. I hear so many parents talk about litigation 'if anything ever happens to my child' that I'm scared off having anyone over these days.

DD starts high school next year at a new school and we're hoping for a new start for her. She's had a rough 2 years with cliques and wanting to be part of one. She's so much like Sue Heck in The Middle, the poor thing :cutie:.

On another note - I heard scratching around last night in the junk box in the storage cupboard in the utility room where our laptop is. I started emptying it out this afternoon and DS and I spotted a mouse. The darn thing jumped out of the box and ran under the freezer - and the whole time the dogs just stood there and watched!!!! Stupid canines, they can catch a chicken but they won't catch a mouse! Can't wait for DH to get home and set the good wooden traps. The plastic Striker brand ones are useless - the mouse licked off the peanut butter and the trap didn't go off. And don't get me started on those Mortein ones that supposedly capture them inside - the don't even give those ones a second glance!

Oh, and I bought a nice dress from Target today - a peachy and navy stripe long thing. I can picture myself strolling along on Castaway Cay in that (while sucking in my tummy ). And who else here is such a forward planner...

I know what you mean about the whole pool party thing, i'd rather have a pool party at the local pool :upsidedow

What is it with kids and being mean??
