The I am a pirate/fireman, I am not a hijacker thread, all about nothing in general

decided to go for a lovely walk outside today to help amp up my fitness.

yeah, that is so not happening. i got blown back inside with a face full of tree branch, now have a nice little cut over my eye and an entry way full of leaves.

maybe i'll go for a walk tomorrow and just wallow inside today :)

The wind is pretty bad here too. Maybe having no trees around is a good thing Bec, you wouldn't want a large branch through your roof!

So.....I've been sick again for the last week. Only the 4th time this winter!

Been coughing my lungs out, awfully scratchy and sore throat. Today was the 1st day at work for me this week. Dosed myself up with numbing strepsils and soothers. Completely killed any feeling I had in the throat with the combination.

Now I'm home and am starting to settle in for the weekend. I'm starting to feel the effects of w-o-r-k and all that coughing. My throat is killing me! I'm going to have to take some pandol for the pain.

Have a great weekend all!

Hope the weekend helps the recovery PIO. DD1 has been home all week with severe hayfever (Steroids) and DD2 concussion yesterday from a softball incident (only have private health insurance for her). DD1 now coughing and spluttering from all the yuck with the double dr visit yesterday is sure just the effects of the hayfever. Grrrr. She is in the middle of assessments and needs to get over this. So we are in sympathy with you recovering...

We are having a PJ Weekend, supplies were purchased on the way home, DH away. Girls only weekend with no sport, sleepovers, school activities, work..:cool1:

So what does one do? Ring WDW:lmao: Oh the scheming in my head...:scratchin :bitelip:

I rang DH he looked a little:rolleyes2:faint::badpc:

Have a great weekend everyone

My mum and my Aunty are planning a trip to Hawaii and WDW for Sept/Oct next year. I think I'm going to try and wheedle my way into it... :rotfl2:

This mortgage won't be paid off early at all :rotfl2:

I have mice. In my house. And they're not even pets. I feel so dirty.

They've nested in my wardrobe, where, of course, are piles of boxes full of shoes and greeting cards and photographs :sad2:

They "ate" through the side of one fake leather handbag, part of the lace on DD/DS Christening gown bonnet, my valuation certificates on some jewellery, part of our wills and lots more. :scared:

I hate mice. DH says that's what you get for having chickens and a vegetable garden. It's not fair. I hate mice. They're stinky. Tomorrow I have to get some peppermint oil - I've heard it repels mice if sprayed around everywhere. And maybe learn how to set the traps without taking off part of my fingers...

UGH!!! Have fun with them :sad2: We had field mice when we moved into our new house 6 years ago because we're on an acre and building disturbed their nests. Once we have weather strips on the bottom of each door no more mice :thumbsup2

I remember one horrible night when I could HEAR one crawling around the boxes I hadn't unpacked yet :crazy2: then there was the night we went to use the BBQ and found a dead mouse on the grill :scared: yep that cleaning job went on for awhile to make sure we could use it :sad2:

Also tell your DH we have a veggie patch, chickens and an fruit orchard (none of which we had when we moved in) and we don't get ANY mice :rotfl2:

Edit: Just remembered a worse mouse story. We went up to my uncles farm in Mudgee about 13 years ago and when I went to bed I put my arm between the pillows because thats how I sleep and there was mice poop ewwwwwwwwwww! That was a bad nights sleep and we have never stayed at their house again after that because mum & dads bed had the same issue, down right disgusting not to check that when you have guests coming :scared:

Pay an exterminator, it'd be worth every damn cent :thumbsup2

I think I have something in my roof, I hope it's a possum, and the rat blocks haven't been touched.
By the way, we've lived in or brand new house for a year, and we have something in our roof, nothing to do with dirt.
They are everywhere! My cat is a lazy little m_f_...

Definitely time to get the exterminator in.

Yup :)

Changing topic for a minute, my DS was telling my DH that he doesn't get invited to any of the kids birthday party's at school :sad2:
Makes me sad that for whatever reason he's being left out.

He hasn't been to one party this year, I know it's a little thing to me but obviously important to him :sad1:

No, no exterminator. We've got the slithery kind outside but they tend to go for the frogs. I've got some traps and will see how they go. DH usually sets them but I can't bring myself to handle them to remove bodies (and I can't set the darn things either). I got these new ones at Coles that are like a big clip and you press on the clip to release the body. Couldn't find any peppermint oil though so will have to try the health food store tomorrow. DH suggested we get a little Foxie or something but we've already got 3 dogs...

Know how you feel about DS not being invited to parties. My boy can't understand why he doesn't get invited to any either. It doesn't make sense and I hate it when kids make a big show of giving out invites to 'select' people at school. :confused3

Sorry that your DS is a little upset by not being invited to a party this year. It is sad when that happens.

 it sucks being left out.

I was left out a lot as a kid. It gets lonely. I feel for your little one

Our rule has been for a long time to take little cakes to school and share , if we were having a birthday party for one of our kids and couldn't invite the whole class so everyone got to share in the fun. Also our kids did their inviting after school discretely but ours have been on the receiving end of the stuff you talk of. Karma has a way of working things out.

had a nasty mouse build a nest in our webber bbq..found it last week, as the gas ran out 4 weeks ago so havent used it ......nasty little critters, and we live next to a reserve so if it isnt mice, its snakes, or possums, or blue tongues etc etc..and our damn dog is as useless as b00bs on a bull:rotfl2:

kids..had one son who was ooba popular, the other not so much..so know what its like to see one struggle & the other made us broke with parties every weekend....but as DS1 knows now...most of the "cool" kids who didnt invite him are in juvi / dodgy or have 3 kids to 3 dads...so it may hurt now, but later in life its not such a big deal.....just try to make sure he knows that sometimes they are only allowed a few kids...and sometimes some parents are idiots and try to "network" thru their kids...

I remember one year I invited DS's entire class...2 jumping castles , krispy creme donut tower as a cake etc...so no-one was left out...awesome party for a 12 yr old...girls took one castle, guys had the other...priceless...such a great age.....

It's so hard being a parent sometimes :grouphug:

Our youngest DH went whole year once without being invited to a single party. This year he's been invited to heaps! It's hard to know what goes on in the heads of kids - i hope that next year your DS has a better year!

Eeeew! A mouse nest in the Weber! We've got frogs living next to our bbq and I'm terrified they'll move in under the plate and I'll cook them. I lit our fire pit in the back paddock the other day (it's where cardboard, paper, fallen branches etc go) as it was starting to get a bit big and to help keep snakes from living in there, and soon after I lit it I heard the scream of a frog  It's worse than the sound of one being taken by a snake. I set the new mouse traps (I think they were called Stalker and I got them from Coles). They weren't touched overnight. Until cyclone Yasi we had barking owls in the rain trees overhanging our house (the trees had to go the day the cyclone was about to cross or we'd have no house left) and we never saw a mouse. Now the owls have gone we've got them.

Yep, I agree about the parties being used as status things by parents. If I hear that DS or DD missed out on being invited to a party I usually say it's okay because we had other things to do that weekend anyway, but secretly in some ways I'm happy because I didn't like that child or their parents. The joys of teaching at the same school as where your kids go :groom:

DS's 3rd or 4th birthday was a combination party with a neighbour's grandson whose birthday was a few days later and there was a year apart between them. It was all family and friends; we had a jumping castle and face painting but no Krispy Creme cake tower!

Well, DS has his earned day off from school - a free day off pass if you like, so I'll drive DD to school then come home and go and buy dog food from Big W and maybe get some plastic crates from Crazy Clarks to replace the cardboard storage boxes. Oh, and some new vegemite, jam etc. The condiments shelf above the kitchen bench collapsed last night leaving a glassy, sticky mess all over the bench and floor :furious: Darn that weight limit to things attached to the wall. Darn the previous owners for using such cheap crap.

DS wants a pool party this year ( we have a pool) but then I'm thinking which kids would he invite? Do I even want them in my house?
He's in a different class to his friends from last year, so I think, maybe it's like he had to start again friend wise?
I also think the parents don't help, very cliquey bunch, and I don't get involved.
Maybe I should get involved...

Naaa don't want to :p
