The I am a pirate/fireman, I am not a hijacker thread, all about nothing in general

 to start with DH rings during his lunch break and tell me part of his tooth broke of no pain just a bit of jagger he is not home for another week to get it fixed:eek:
then me decluttering our house decides to burn the unneeded paper work I put a newspaper on the fire walk 4 meters away to tell DD13 she is doing a great jurns itch the weeding turn back to the fire and the flippin palm tree that is attached to my verandah is on fire:scared1::scared1: then whoosh the tree next to it starts on fire. :scared1:screaming for the kids I try to turn on the hose it's not connected I run into the house to grab passports photos and keys in that order then realize the boys are there ds16 connects the hose ds15 climbs onto the roof and DS11 chucks him Up the fire extinguisher somehow:eek::scared1:
between the 5 of us we spent an hour getting it out and then another 2 flooding the tree to make sure there were no embers. I am very thankful to the boys quick thinking and so grateful DH had that fire extinguisher.

Seriously I am over the drama of this week:sad2:

wow, I'm glad it didn't escalate past that. We had a friend live with us for a while who was a smoker. One day I was upstairs and saw a funny shadow on the eave, I went to see what was causing it, and it turns out this friend had flicked a cigarette butt into the garden (a pet peeve in itself) which had set alight the woods chips, and in turn set the fence alight!

Lucky I was curious about the shadows, because it was in a spot where it could have gone unnoticed until the house was on fire.

We put it out easily enough with a hose, but it just shows you how easily bush fires are started by people throwing their butts out of moving cars...

Very, very scary! :(

Glad you're all ok.

:grouphug:Thanks Dis friends I didnt get much sleep last night but us and the house are still here no flare ups :cloud9:
Was interesting to hear from the kids afterwards that whilst we were putting it out they were all thinking about our trip and how we wouldn't be able to go on it if we didn't get the fire out and as a parent it was amazing to hear my children's faith as we were all trying to stop the fire that they were all praying for help to get the fire out;)
DS11 was telling me he ran inside to get our passports(so we could still go away), my handbag and his farm animals and then he realised I would tell him of for going inside when there was a fire so came back out and then he asked me if i wanted him to get them i am gad to know what there priorities are :)

You win, I can't compete with that :scared1:
:rotfl: i am so glad today is a new day
I have decided the war is over with whatever was trying to sabotage our trips:eek: we are all only allowed to experience good things from here onwards:goodvibes
Guess the tooth wasnt such a worry after that!
Yep for sure it wasnt, he has a week before he can come home and have it fixed but he has no pain and says it is just annoying that his tooth is sharp.

:thumbsup2Thanks, am so very grateful that my boys were so able to react so quickly and that we are all ok.

man......talk about scary....

hope your arm is ok...dont let it get infected, even little burns can cause great grief if left unattended.

the boys deserve a "mickey medal' for bravery and courage under fire!

lets hope we all can manage a stress free month this month..OK????

I hope the arm is on the mend. You must be so proud of the kids. Stay safe and focus on the great time ahead. The bit I love most about trips is actually being removed from home and being I the moment with the kids without the normal day to day chaos. This is the universe reminding you to Stop and enjoy. :grouphug:

So as some of you know, my DH died years ago, in an accident, so it was sudden and a massive shock.

Anyway I was on youtube last night and I found a video of him. It was from when he was young, years before we met. He was a sportsman so it was a couple of interviews of him and then about 5 minutes of him doing the sport he did best (and loved).

I called my son down as i had never seen this video or interview on him before and my DS doesn't remember his dad.

I have been howling all night, even after years I still miss him. Wondering what our lives would be like now if he were still here. I know we would have had more kids. It was so nice hearing him talk, clown around with others, playing his sport and I had forgotten his voice. It's amazing how over time you forget their voice.

I've been trying to work out how to get it off youtube to save a copy of it. Everything I try doesn't seem to work.

Anyway just wanted to share :sad1:

OMG  How absolutely terrifying for you! Thank goodness you are all ok!

My clothes dryer caught fire once, luckily the fire dept arrived quickly and there wasn't much damage. It was SO scary!

 I didn't know. Thanks for sharing. :grouphug:

I know that DS did download videos from youtube and save it on the computer. I suspect that DH might have gotten a free download program. Google download videos from youtube and there is quite a few options available. Some of the stuff seems to be for "free".

If no one else responds, I'll ask DH later.

What a beautiful piece of magic My wonderful staff do all the saving from you tube for me. It is a program you download. We will find the way. Can you contact the person who posted. Perhaps they may have other hidden treasures. What a mixed lot of emotions you would be feeling.

Lucky it is not a video tape that would wear out, you can just keep watching :)
