And it's heading straight for Richmond!! We are sitting just left of the eye which is the most dangerous area according to the news because that is where most of the tornadoes are spawned!

Looks like we are going to take a whallop from Isabel. Everything (except Lauri's mall) is shutting down for Thursday and Friday. Businesses are taping their windows, there isn't a flashlight, battery or bottle of water to be found in the city.

It's not often a city 100 miles inland takes a hit like this so wish us luck!

It's too bad Lauri doesn't sell water or batteries because then she could stay at home! I guess when bad things threaten, people want to shop at the mall (not). Keep safe.

The hurricane is here, the hurricane is here!!! Shingles in my front yard. But at least I have power and no fallen trees yet. It is not over yest but Fran and Floyd were worse for us. Inlaws in Norfolk, VA are not doing as well. Power loss for the last few hours. Friends with oak trees in their house.

Hey, I will toss some pins into the air and see if Isabel can carry them northward to y'all.

Be safe. You can replace a home but not a life. Thoughts are with you.

I hope everyone who is in Isabel's path manages to stay safe. I will be thinking about all of you during this horrible storm.
Let us all know when it is over that you are safe, if you have no electricity call someone who does that can post to us on the boards or let those of us who are at the Event know you are safe and sound. Peggie

Survived Izzy pretty good. Made a good dent in the backlog of work I had here at home and hope to get more done today. Only problem is power went out last night at 1am and has yet to return. Using my lap top on battery power.

Not too bad in central Carolina. Mild in comparison to Fran and Floyd. SE Virigina was slammed. Family coming for a visit until power returns. As for the family place in Hatteras, no knows or will know for a few weeks its condition. Everyone safe and sound.

Isabel brought a whole lot less rain here than Floyd (2" vs. 13"), but Isabel had way more wind than Floyd. We lost power & cable. Water was iffy yesterday because their was no electiricty to pump the water out. I have a bathtub, two sinks & lots of containers full of water. A local federal agency came through for our county & we have water again. Today's scare was when the generator at the swere pumping station died, but it is working again.

And I learned what storm surge is - I had no idea until I saw folks in our community under several feet of water. The water was up to the middle of their homes, garages, etc. & over their cars.

We have a generator that worked well. Neighbors have food in our refrigerators & our freezers. We sound like "generator city" around here & it gets very dark at night. Our county had almost 200,000 customers without power; they are down to about 140,000. Our power returned this morning, but our neighbors around the corner still have no power.

If anyone knows "Irby" workers from Florida or Mississippi, please extend our sincere gratitude for their time & efforts in helping us. We saw twelve of their trucks this morning.
