The Human Stain

DH and I tried to watch this movie last night. We stopped it about 1/2 way through because DH could not get past Anthony Hopkins with Nicole Kidman. And I could not get past Nicole Kidman's voice.
We watched The Big Bounce instead (Owen Wilson is such a cutie!)

What did you think of The Human Stain? Is the book worth reading?

I've read the book which I loved,I would definitely reccomend it!

I did read the film was being made,it hasn't come to the UK yet though.

Was the 'romantic' pairing that unlikely?I hate it when the leads have no 'chemistry' it spoils the movie

DH said it was just the old guy with a young(er) woman that bothered him. I thought the chesmistry was ok I just couldn't get past the voice that was coming out of Nicole! She was doing a great job because it did not seem like her at all (voice, look, mannerisms.)

I thought Gary Sinise was good from what I saw of him. I liked the dancing scene. Didn't watch musch of Ed Harris. We turned it off after his first couple of scenes.

Maybe I will read the book and then try try to watch it again. It might help me understand it better.

I don't think I can get DH to give it another try though.
