The Hudson's do Disney w/Tropical Storm Fay & the DDP!! Aug 16-23 with Pics!!

We woke up on Thursday & it was raining again, so we decided to once again forgo BB & just go to Epcot & stroll around WS. We felt we didn't have enough time for WS last trip, so I figured this gave us an entire afternoon before our dinner at Tutto Italia.

Everyone was a little hungry, so we stopped in France to get a bite to eat. We found the Patisserie and went inside. We were going to "check it out", but it was kinda crowded in there and you couldn't really look without getting in line. So we started ordering what would constitute 2 CS meal. We got a ham & cheese croissant sandwich, ham & cheese quiche, an apple tart, & another "dessert" (don't remember which one). I started adding the prices and decided it was silly to use a CS meal on this, so we ended up paying OOP for this. It was around $18-$20 with the tax. We went outside and ate at the little tables. (It had stopped raining for a little while!) Both the croissant & quiche were really tasty. We had them warm the croissant. The apple tart was good & so was the other dessert we had.

We wandered around WS that afternoon. Amanda stopped in Morocco to get a piece of Baklava "to go". I don't know how we managed to tote that little box around for the rest of the day!!! We had to pay for this OOP, the girl at the counter said that it was not part of the dining plan. I thought that was strange but didn't argue. Andrew got a soft pretzel & Ray a beer from Germany. I really wanted to try the frozen drinks from France, but I was a little bit grumpy since it was now raining pretty hard & it just didn't seem as festive walking around in the rain with my frozen drink!!!

Our ADR at Tutto wasn't till 5:40, and we were just walking around in the wind & rain to kill time until our ADR. At about 5:15, Ray said, "why don't we just go to the restaurant & wait there...at least we will be out of the rain". OMG what a great idea!!! When we got inside, I had to go to the restroom & literally dry my arms and legs off with paper towels. Here I was at this nice restaurant looking like a drowned rat.

By the time I came out from drying off, we only waited a few minutes & were seated. It was not even our ADR time. The restaurant was really pretty inside, it made me feel like I was in Italy although I have never been!

Now, I made this ADR based on some of the reviews on the boards (thanks, Mickeynicki) even though Italian food isn't Andrew's favorite, but Amanda & I love pasta. We ordered a bottle of wine ($27) & settled in for our meal.

The food came out so quickly...a little too fast. I mean, it seemed like 5 minutes after we ordered, we had our meals. I'm not complaining, we were just happy to be out of the rain, but it was almost rushed.

I knew immediately that I wanted the Bucatini Gratinati. I love baked Italian dishes and cream sauces....it did not disappoint. It was so hot...just coming out of the oven, I had to dig in slowly but I loved this dish and was almost able to eat the whole thing.

Amanda decided on the Cannelloni al Forno. This looked delicious and she gave me a taste...it was.

Now Andrew had a little harder time deciding since he doesn't love Italian food. From the menu I had read prior to our trip I figured he would be safe with the chicken, or something other than pasta, but since he likes fried calamari, he decided to try Paccheri. This was pasta tubes, calamari, green peas, with herbs, garlic, & olive oil. Unfortunately, he really didn't like it. I swear, the man at the table next to me had a steak which I did not see on the menu. I know Andrew would have been much happier with that.

Ray decided on the Tagliatelle alla Primavera. He said it was very good & fresh, but it came with a creme sauce, not his favorite.

Dessert time:

I ordered the Gianduja Torta...chocolate and hazlenut torte. This was chocolatey, dense, & delicious.

Amanda decided on the profiteroles (sp?) which she polished off. I don't see them on the allears menu. The waiter brought out the dish of chocolate sauce so she could add as much as she liked.

Andrew ordered the Mocha Tiramisu which he liked much better than his dinner.

And Ray...he was too full for dessert, but the waiter insisted since it was included in the DDP. He told Ray that he would bring him out something "light". Here's what he got: Copetta Sotto Bosca. Berries, zabaglione creme gelato, and chocolate sauce.

For someone who was "too full", I think he almost finished it.

Although a little rushed, we really liked Tutto Italia. I think it was one of our better meals. I seemed to like it more than the rest of my family. Maybe it was the bottle of wine!!! Shortly before we arrived for dinner there was an announcement that Illuminations was cancelled due to the rain so it was back to the WL.

When we returned to WL that evening, Amanda and Andrew decided to go swimming (in the rain). I was amazed at all the people in the pool all week. I know you are just wet, it just didn't seem as fun doing it in the bad weather, but the pool was pretty busy all week. I felt bad for the lifeguards standing watch all day and night in their rain gear.

After swimming, Amanda wanted a snack, so she and Andrew used a CS at Roaring Fork & got a pizza, fruit & dessert. They said the pizza was good.

Next up....CS breakfast at Roarin Fork, CS at Yak & Yeti & BOMA for dinner!!! Hopefully the rain will stop!!!
