The "How did I pull this one out of my hat?" TR - NEW! Updated 9/24

THANKS! Now I know what I will be doing today (instead of cleaning of course).:lol

Cleaning is BORING. ;)

I have never found any Crocs other than the Caymans that I can wear. I have one pair of Beach, but they really are too big. One of the moms at swimming lessons has a really cute pair of Crocs sandals, but I haven't made it to the Crocs shop to try them on. The other sandal styles don't fit my foot properly.

We surprised DS with our trip in December of '06. DS HATES to try on clothes. Hates it. We had a REALLY early flight, so DH and I went in his room about 4 AM. I told him I needed him to wake up and try on a jacket. (I bought 3 matching polar fleece jackets at the Disney Store.) DS was furious. It was so funny. :rotfl: I said "I just need you to try this jacket on. Come on, try it on. I need to know if it fits." He told me to go away. I told him DH and I were both wearing ours, and I needed to know if his was going to fit. Because if it fit he might want to wear it. To WDW. Right now. He thought we were joking. DH told him to look in the hallway - the luggage was by the front door. That got him moving! :thumbsup2 He did try the jacket on when he realized we were serious.

We surprised him in February of '07, too, but it wasn't anything dramatic. We just picked him up from school and went to the airport.

We TRIED to surprise him last December but that got all messed up and he knew about the trip WEEKS ahead of time.

Cleaning is BORING. /QUOTE]

You can say that again sista!

I realized that today was the day that I had to pay our balance on our trip! I was almost afraid I was going to forget!! Then I called, and when I gave them my info, it just pulled up our POP Reservation for the first night! I am like, no, we have a reservation for the GF! So, I give her our ressie #, she looks it up, and says, "OK, this is just for your and your 3 children?"

Ummmm, NO!!

So, she puts me on hold for a few minutes, comes back and says, "Actually, we are only showing your children on this reservations, I have guest services working on it, it will take a few minutes."

Ok, whatever you have to do, but get it fixed! I'm not sure what they would do to me if I showed up with 5 people and they only had 3 on the reservation!

After leaving me on hold for at least 3 songs, one of which is from Beauty and the Beast, which I LOVE, She gets back on the phone, says it is all fixed. Whew, I get to go to Disney with my kids afterall! I give her the credit card number, and she asks me if I need to make any Dining reservations. I wanted to say, "Lady, if I had actually waited until today to make my dinner reservations, we would be eating at the Gasparilla Grill for every one of our meals!" She does realize that this is Free Dining, right? But I was nice and told her that I had already taken care of them.........weeks ago!

As for the cleaning......not going so well! We decided last night that our kids have been doing too much laying around this summer, so we kept the TV off all day so far.....what does that lead to......an even messier house! Now I know why I have let them watch TV! LOL

Dh is home early from work today, but is he helping? Of course not!

Oh well, back to work. I need to eat something....haven't eaten all day!

Now I really feel dumb. My ONE pair of crocs always seemed HUGE to me, and I had no idea why. Now, I realize that I ordered the Beach when I should have ordered the Cayman!! UGH!

The Beach crocs are usually the ones sold at local stores. At least in adult sizes. I have two pair of beach and the funny is that I think one was mislabeled becaue it seems so much smaller than the other! Then I got the minnie janes, too. Not nearly as comfy for walking (not as much cushioning under the foot) as the beach.

Ally got a pair of the minnie janes too and got a huge blister!!! But thankfully that was before the trip. She's never had a problem with the caymans though - she can wear those right out of the box. And the minnie janes ran large for her but small for me. Weird!

I'm glad you got the ressie sorted out! :scared1:

I am going to have to start cleaning soon. I have 3 weekends before we leave, so somehow in the next 3 weekends I need to get things presentable enough for the pet sitter to come in. :rolleyes1

I ordered a pair of pink Disney Crocs online. I wear a size 8, but those Crocs were HUGE. DH was being silly and tried them on and they FIT! They were way, way too big. I sent them back.

DS has a pair of Caymans, a pair of Disney, and a pair of Croclings. All the same size (theoretically) but if you measure them one aganst the other they are all different. :headache:

Wonder why their sizing is so screwy?

I had DS8 try on his, and he said they were just about too small. He is wanting flips like his big brother instead of Crocs, and honestly he would probably get more wear out of them. I just like seeing him in crocs, but they aren't his favorite. I just wonder if those flip flops would be comfortable walking in the parks all day?

Nothing much new to report today. Allie's new crocs came yesterday, and they are adorable! I'm glad I ordered the size I did because even though they are a little big, I expect she will still be able to wear them on our next trip as well!

I am planning on telling the kids very soon I think. I just don't think I can hold it in until we leave, and I want to be excited with them for a couple of weeks before we go!

I think it would be cool to already have a countdown Calendar made up for after I tell them, so I need to find some time for that! I need to take an evening when dh is here, and the boys aren't playing ball, to go to the mall on my own and get some shopping done! I can't wait to tell them!

We leave for the beach a week from Friday, and I have barely even thought about that trip! LOL I am really looking forward to it though, the beach is always relaxing!

We got to have a little "mini-trip" to a local amusement park yesterday, so I thought I would add that into my report!

First, a little background. My Mom is always winning stuff on the radio. She works at the local VA Hospital, and all day long they listen to the radio and try to win prizes. Well, you know how that goes, you are only supposed to win once a month, so she is always having to give my name or her sisters name when she wins multiple times in a month. It cracks me up, but they enjoy it!

So, she calls on Wednesday, and asks me if I have any plans for this coming Friday. I tell her that I didn't think so, and she says good, I just won the opportunity of a lifetime for you! I get to be on the first ride of the day on the 50th Anniversary of the Big Dipper! It is one of the last manually operated roller coasters in the world. The guys who work the ride actually have to pull these huge levers to release the breaks to start the ride, and then pull them again to stop the cars as they pull into the loading area! It is actually pretty cool to watch.

Let me give you a little more background. We have a little amusement park here in Huntington called Camden Park. It has been here for over 100 years now (my grandparents actually met there when my grandmother was working at the paddle boat pond back in the 40's). It isn't the best theme park in the world, but I guess it is better than nothing! Friday, they were celebrating the 50th Anniversary of their big wooden roller coaster, the Big Dipper! There are actually people who refuse to ride the coaster because they think it is too old! And it is getting a little sad because the cars are getting so old that they are having trouble finding parts to fix them now! It is one of the

So, I was excited, but I wanted the kids to get to go too! So, my Mom called the radio station back, and they said they would have 4 passes waiting for us, we just needed to be there at 10:30.

So, the kids were pretty excited. Most of our friends buy season passes back in December when they are only like $50/person, but I hate forking over $250 for all of our passes right at Christmas time, so we haven't gotten to go this year yet.

We got up early, and we were there in plenty of time. The guy from the radio came and found us, gave us our passes, and all four of us got t-shirts from The DAWG radio station, and t=shirts to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Big Dipper. The only stipulation was that we all had to wear our DAWG t-shirts when we rode the coaster, and that the radio guy could tape us making some comments so they can play them on the radio on Monday morning. My boys thought that was so cool! LOL

We got in line to ride, and Allie starts chickening out! It is fine if she doesn't want to ride, but I am thinking about our Disney trip next month! I am thinking that she better not do this to me....half the reason we are going back is so she can ride all the rides she missed last year because she was too short!! How is the same girl, who just one year ago, wanted to ride a roller coaster at Kings Island, and when they told her she was too small, cried and said, "Why did this happen to me?!?!" It was hilarious and sad at the same time!

So, I can't convince her to ride. The boys ride, they have a blast, then the radio station sets us free in the park.:cool1:

Allie is dying to ride the Haunted House, so we ride it, and it is pretty fun! They have done a lot of work in there......I remember a few years ago, you just went from black room to black room......no props at all! Now they have some pretty creepy things in there.....even one scene from The Exorcist:scared1:!

I then convince her to ride The Paratrooper ride with me. This was my favorite when I was a kid, and I have very fond memories of riding this with my Dad (he passed away 14 years ago). She LOVED it, and now all of a sudden she is ready to ride the coaster! LOL

We get in line, and she chooses the front seat. Lo and behold, she laughed the whole time! We had to get right back on to ride again! We ended up riding it 4 times yesterday! Now I know she won't be afraid to ride pretty much anything on our Disney trip, and I am feeling good!

We stayed in the park for about 3 hours, and after eating a ridiculously overpriced lunch, we headed home to rest. Casey had a baseball game at 6, and I didn't want him too worn out.

We played the game (we won 15-4 in 3 1/2 innings!!:cheer2:), and then dh dropped us back of at the park so we could ride some more. We all shared a couple of funnel cakes, rode a few more rides, and watched the fireworks they were letting off last night. Not quite Wishes, but definitely made me very excited for our upcoming trip!

The boys got along all day, and they were so sweet to Allie! They all took turns choosing which ride we would ride next, and we just had a really great day together. I am so thankful for my family, they are growing up so fast, and I want to cherish every moment! A day like yesterday is the best!

Hello, is anyone there? I think I lost my readers (the few I had anyway!)

I'm here! Was just gone for the weekend! :)

Congrats on your (mom's) win and for an awesome day at the park! The coaster sounds cool! And so glad your DD went for all the fun rides - should make your upcoming trip to WDW loads of fun!

Hi....sounds like a great pre-Disney trip you had there. It's always nice to introduce or re-introduce those kinds of things to kids in a cheaper/local way before you get to Disney.
I just posted my countdown calendar in my PTR if you are looking for some ideas.

Sounds like a fun time at Camden Park!

Hurray that Allie enjoyed so many rides including the roller coaster -- you are all set for Disney now! :thumbsup2

I'm here! Sounds like you had a great time at Camden Park! How fun that you got the free passes - nothing better than free, huh?

I have a really cool countdown chain that was emailed to me by a fellow DISer. If you want me to send it to you, PM me your email address. It was a lot of fun for my Ally before our trip in May!

I'm glad you are still here! I was starting to think that I was all alone:rolleyes1

I think we are good to go on the rides for this trip now! She was loving every minute of it! I almost had her ride in the back seat with me once.....but after riding it with my ds, I am glad we didn't do that! We flew so high off our seats after going down the big drop, I would have freaked out with her in the seat beside me!

I will have to check out your countdown calendar! I wanted to get to Home Depot today to get some paint chips to make one with, but we ran out of time. Maybe another day this week!

She had a blast! If you are ever driving through WV, you could make a pit stop at Camden Park! LOL

I am off to PM my email to you right now! I am always looking for new ideas!

Free passes were great! A one day park pass is $21/adult and $15 for a child! That can add up quickly! Lunch was $32, and that was only for 3 of us to eat! But I guess we have to fork it over if we want them tos tay in business. There were many years there for a while when we thought they were just going to have to close down! I think they are doing OK now.

I don't always comment, but I read! ;)

Oh good! I'm glad you are still here!

I had to add this little addendum to my Camden Park trip report.

Allie got a little busted lip on one of the rides while we were there, and later that evening at Casey's game, I asked her to tell my Mom how she busted her lip. She said that she had done it on "The Spanker". I was like.....waht did she just say? I asked her again, and she said "The Spanker". She even turned around and gave her behind a little smack to show me what she meant.

Um, it wasn't the "Spanker" it was the "WHIP!" :rotfl2:

I am so excited because my new camera came in the mail yesterday!!!

My ds and I broke our old one when we were on his field trip to COSI back in May. I have been without a camera all summer long, and it has been killing me!

I ended up ordering the Panasonic Lumix TZ4 after reading the thread here that had lots of recommendations for it. I hope I can get some great pics with it while we are on vacation! I need to sit down and read all about it in the manual.

Now I can actually add some current pictures to this PTR!! I think we are down to 1 MONTH TO GO!!

Make sure you practice a lot with your new camera before you go!!! That way you can take advantage of all the great features, and actually know what you're doing!!! Unlike some of us, who, uh, got a new camera before vacation and didn't know how to use it! Not that I know anyone like that....:rolleyes1

Looking forward to many good pictures taken with your new camera. It does get very good reviews. It was one of the ones I was looking at before I got the Canon S5IS just before this trip.

I'm reading, but I'm reading so many different reports that I forget who I respond to. I'm trying to get all I can in before school starts back and I don't have as much Dis time.
