We survived the cheerleaders :scared1:,

& enjoyed a diet consisting of mostly corny dogs, churros, ice cream & various bakery items & have returned unscathed. :hippie:

Thought I'd give a quick recap:

- We were there on Sunday (all day) & Monday till 2pm.
- We didn't have MM on Sunday, they let us onto Main St. at 7:40am for a rope drop for the great unwashed non MM people. (the rope lined up even with the Corny Dog truck).
- Zero (as in none) cheerleaders seen until 11ish.
- VERY uncrowded. Rode 18 rides (along with a bakery stop at Pooh Corner) & collected 4 FPs prior to hopping to DCA at 10:45am.
- Soarin' FP (picked up at 10:55) had a 2pm return. & DCA had a more crowded feel especially past noon. I think it was a combination of SoCal 2fers (lots of locals), folks enjoying the food & wine festival & the cheerleaders.
- I was on Griz Rapids with 5 cheerleaders & a brother & Alec & I. :scared1: Can't confirm it, but i think they won the shreiking competition. :rolleyes1
- After Griz, we went to the Candy Cane & checked in....it's very nice. Everyone at the pool was a cheer family from Idaho (at least 15 families).
- DL was mobbed on Sunday at 6pm (nice weather, cheerleaders etc.) DS & I had FPs though, so no worries. :hippie:
- Tried a knockwurst at the Princess area (near ToonTown & IASW) & it was great.....will definitely try the bratwurst next time. :thumbsup2
- The fireworks were cancelled Sunday, but thankfully the likely prospect of them kept many occupied (sitting near the HUB for an hour) so that Sunday after 8pm was easy to tour & ride.
- Padewan Alec hit the wall at 10:15pm & I was thankful for the Candy Cane bus as he zombie-walked down Main St. & on out to the bus.....& I carried him (potato sack like) from the bus to our room (about 50 yards). w/o the bus i would have had to carry him 1/2 a mile. (whew)

- Monday Morning - we were also let onto Main St. at 20 min. till.... 9am opening. (I prefer 8am openings....only the hard core folks are there)
- Only glich of the two days...we went to Alice first (DS didn't want to do PP or Dumbo), we were the first on (of course ;)).....then on to Matterhorn to do a 2fer.....& WTH.... long lines...at least 15 min. on each side at 9:08!!! Was Nemo broke or somthing?? Anyways, we did Matterhorn & then hoofed it over to collect a SM FP & did another 15 rides before riding SM at 10:50pm. (the left side of the park was virtually empty & we rode Big Thunder multiple times.)
- Hopped to DCA at 11am....very cool to be the only people walking DOWN Main St. while everyone else was walking UP it.
- DCA was MUCH less crowded on Monday & didn't have that huge group of "young teen locals" vibe (that it had the previous afternoon). All rides were mostly walk on (except for the FPs we got for Soarin' & Screamin).
- Also....far less people in the food courts & F&W areas on Monday. Tried a fancy hamburger slider (not as good as the corn dogs....but good).
- scaredy cat padewan alec finally got the nerve to try Screamin' for the first time, so now .........of course it's his favorite ride :lmao: . So naturally we had to do it again. :cool1:
- Ended our trip with Crush & then Soarin' (great ways to finish) & then off to the airport.

Food Report:

- Dole Whip - B+ (it was a brisk night....should have had it during the day when it was warm).
- Churros (3 of them) A- (darn good)
- Pooh Corner B+ (Alec got a caramel candy thing....kind of like a tigger tail but something else & i got a peanut butter cookie with chocolate bits in it...not as good as the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie though.)
- Knockwurst at Princess Faire - A
- Corny Dog at the Corny Dog Truck - A-
- Regular Corny Dog at the Palace - A
- "Chili-Cheese infused" Corny Dog at the Palace - A-
- Popcorn on MainSt. - B
- Mickey Bar in DCA - A-
- Chili Cheese Hot Dog at the dog place across from Crush. A-
- Slider at the Food & Wine Court - A-
- Bagels & stuff at Candy Cane Inn - B+.
- Cafe Mocha at the coffee stand next to the bridge that takes you over to Screamin' & Ariel's brunch. (with an extra shot of expresso & half of the steamed milk. :thumbsup2 ) A

I understand that the Food & Wine staff have doubled the orders for food & tripled the orders for wine in anticipation of a convention of dis-babes about to hit DLR this week. :rotfl: They've also recalibrated the FP machines due to anticpated heavy usage in the coming week. Goofy has also been instructed to be on good behavior & not to chase any ladies with a lime mickey heads on their back packs around the Main St. plaza.....they don't want to end up on you tube again. :rolleyes1

Have a great time & say hi to Toadie for me :thumbsup2.

:)

Hound, you are totally awesome. I’m very happy you mentioned the corny dogs (I don’t know what’s up with me and corny dogs lately.. :confused3 )

Where is the Princess Area with the bratwursts at? The menu at allears sounds so awesome with some sauerkraut and peppers. OH MAN. Is it near PFF? It’s not on the DL map either..

I’m happy you and little hound survived the cheerleaders. I was imagining a DLR swarmed in cheerleaders with pom poms and ribbons in their hair.. :cheer2:

Welcome back! I'm glad to hear the chili-cheese corny dogs passed the Hound test. I just might have to try one for myself this weekend.

Thanks for the great trip report! Glad to hear Padewan Alec had a good time!

Hope to read a more detailed report soon! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the report and the chuckle Hound!:thumbsup2

We are all excited for our trip, glad yours went so well.

PS You know, the most annoying thing about the cheerleaders is the excrutiating non stop screaming, your comment made me realize that.

Thanks prettyprincessbelle....:goodvibes ..... I know what you mean about the corny dogs. I bought the first one & Alec liked it & that's all we seemed to want to eat. Plus they are good "walking around food"....no mess & on to the next ride/event. Mrs. Hound wasn't with us, so we basically ate whatever/whenever we wanted. Alec decided early on Sunday he didn't want to go to Goofy's lunch, so i figured I had an extra $50 bucks to spend on "healthy finger food" :lmao:

It's right across from the Toon Town train stop. We were "sharing" so i didn't try the Bratwurst....but the Knockwurst (dark sausage) was great....not gristly at all & a great flavor. It was served with marinated onions & green peppers & bakery type roll. (& tip for princess lovers....we sat next to a door that 3 princesses came out of including Snowie & her highness the queen mouse.....all said "hi" to Alec as they passed by.

I’m happy you and little hound survived the cheerleaders. I was imagining a DLR swarmed in cheerleaders with pom poms and ribbons in their hair.. :cheer2:

The cheerleaders were fine. Most were 12-15 y/o & seemed just thrilled to be there (not whiney or entitled). No spontaneous cheers or anything. The only reason they stood out would be the tee shirts & some had eye paint & glitter & stuff.

& of course by following the proven (over & over again) strategy of touring early (at gate opening) & collecting FPs early.......we got alot done & had no worries when it got crowded on Sunday afternoon/evening.

(Interesting that BTMRR was walk on at 9ish on Sunday night & at 10ish on Monday morning. We did it twice Sunday & 3 times on Monday morning.)

Which reminds me.....the Goat (what's his name??) is back & braying louder than ever......even with a corny do......er.....I mean a stick of dynamite in his mouth. :thumbsup2

Welcome back! I'm glad to hear the chili-cheese corny dogs passed the Hound test. I just might have to try one for myself this weekend.

It was good, but kinda small. & fyi...the chili cheese (which is good) is syringed (is that a word?) into the meat itself....not gooey mess.

Whoo hoo! Glad you had a great trip Hound! Thanks for the quick TR.

Very excited to hear that Mr. Goat is back where he is suppose to be. Shame you didn't get dreamed near BTMM, seems to be a popular place.

Thanks Janomi. :goodvibes

Interesting that you mention that. A woman & little girl (Alec's age) who were ALSO riding Big Thunder multiple times on Monday (at 10amish) told us THEY got dreamed there 10 min. earlier. (Alec & I probably blew right by them as we were racing around for another walk-on to "the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness" :lmao: ).

The woman gave us her Screamin' FPs off the dream pass (which is how i kind of... sort of... forced (encouraged) Alec to ride it...being the positive, supportive, motivational parent that i am.....that & i bribed him with a churro ;))

Personally, I think Goofy needs to be worried about the ladies chasing him! :rolleyes1

Welcome back Hound! You were thought of in the "right now at DL" thread a couple times during your trip. Check it out.

Now on to the important stuff: Please tell me more about this grade A coffee drink you had in DCA. Was it really good coffee, not Nescacrap that they serve everywhere else? Exactly where did you get it? The only place i know of on the bridge near Ariel's is the ice cream place.

As you walk up to the PFF, the snack bar is on the left and kind of up a slight hill and around the "corner"

Umm. I don't think he has a name? Goat Trick Goat? :confused3 Yeah, he loves those corny dogs!! lol. :lmao:

Hahah. Nescacrap. Yep, I agree with you on that one, DM. :thumbsup2

Inquiring minds want to know Hound, where is this magical coffee? Please don't tell me it's only for Food & Wine..

Thank you, ballarina! ;) We have gotten on and off the train at TT station and walked past PFF too, and I have never seen the place, I guess I've never paid attention..?

Oh yes, please do tell!!! I've only had the crap stuff too!!!

Although I do not partake in such things, I'm glad your repast there did not disappoint. :)

I do believe it is the Enchanted Cottage Sweets and Treats. (yeah, that makes it obvious they sell hunks of meat. :confused3

Hound, your boy is 9ish, yes? Poor you having to carry him, but what a sweet image that brings up in my mind. :upsidedow

Thanks DangerMouse. :goodvibes I'll check out that thread (after I review 175 emails - jeesh - :headache: ).

The Cafe Mocha is steamed milk with shots of expresso & chocolate syrup (i think), not coffee. I like it strong, so i schmoozed the sweet girl from Gonzales LA.... to cut the steamed milk in half & double up on the expresso...it was good. (you can get the same thing at starbucks if you add a couple of shots of expresso). The coffee "stand" is just to the right of the bridge.....prior to crossing the bridge over to Ariel's. Had a mean (huge) looking cookie displayed there as well.

& fyi - Harold gave his regards....(all 6 times we saw him ;)

Correct. & they have german chocolate cake pieces that we failed to try (but will try next time). No line, a nice little sitting area next to the "character door" that the princesses walk out of & a pleasant & quiet place.

Here's a pic & description of the knockwurst....just a more flavorful & a little spicier jumbo dog:
