QOTD (Quote Of The Day) – DW, “Yes, going to Animal House tomorrow is fine.”

The Score Thus Far –
# Attractions We've Rode – 0
# Shows We've Seen – 0
# Parades We've Seen – 0
# Fireworks We've Seen – 0
# Changes To Our Original Plan – 0

In my first installment, the Introduction, I provided the background to our honeymoon trip to WDW. We had laid out some pretty ambitious plans for our trip, and after months of planning and waiting, it was time to go!

But in the time between finalizing our plans and the day we left, things started changing at WDW. Early Entry was gone, park hours were reduced, shows were being reduced, and, well, you all know the rest of the story. We came close to calling off the trip, but decided to go anyway and have fun. But there were going to be some changes.

Change #1 was when we left. Originally, we were going to fly out of Philadelphia late Friday night after work and spend the night at the airport Marriott in Orlando. With the recent changes in air travel, we decided to fly out Friday morning, leaving us some options should our flight get delayed or cancelled. And since it was a very early flight, our mothers dropped us off at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott Thursday night to make it easier Friday morning.

Our flight left at 9:35 AM, so we headed into the terminal at 7:00. The lines for US Airways check-in were out the door, a good hour wait, maybe more! But we were flying First Class, and had our own line with only three people waiting! After breezing through check-in, we waited in line a few minutes for the security check, ate breakfast, and waited for our flight in the US Airways lounge. Another First Class benefit was boarding first, before all the parents with kids! Flying First Class is the only way to go! We landed in Orlando ahead of schedule, and made it through baggage claim with no problems!

In the original plans we were going to pick our rental car up Saturday morning before checking into the GF. Change #2 – picking up the rental car a day earlier than planned. Change #3 was spending the night at the Marriott Village Courtyard (MVC) instead of the Orlando Airport Marriott.

Our rental car for the next ten days was a brand new, bright yellow Mustang convertible with only 300 miles! With its black top and black stripes, we started calling it the Bumble Bee! We checked into the MVC, and surprise – we got an upgrade to a deluxe room with a king bed and Jacuzzi. After a quick bite to eat, took a swim in the pool before heading to Point Orlando for the evening. There we browsed through the shops (FAO Schwarz rules!) before going to the early dinner show at Wonder Works. This was a magic show with all –you-can-eat pizza (very good!) with a magic show. I was disappointed in the magic show – all of the tricks were very simple, and the one of the guys was very annoying. Young kids would enjoy the show more than the adults – perhaps the late show has a better act?

Back to MVC, where we collapsed.

One day down, nine more to go!

Sounds like a nice start! Flying first class is always a nice touch. We did this flying to Hawaii earlier this month and it will spoil you--that is for sure! We used FF miles for it--it was worth the miles just to bypass the lines!LOL

Sounds like a relaxing first day! Looking forward to reading more...

I've always wanted to fly first class, it sounds wonderful...as does your rental car. :)
