Well, it's official the first furnace start of the season :scared1:

the furnace is set to come on at 50 degrees & she just kicked in a few moments ago..ca-ching!

We set it for 54 degrees, so it ain't gonna be getting toasty in here :cold:

 DH still had the AC on this afternoon!

I see you're originally from Buffalo, so I'm going to forgive you the AC :teeth:

I wish the heat was on here, but it is still in the upper 80's!

We turned the heat on a week or two ago...but with this crazy WI weather it's been on...off...on...off...on (you get the picture). Today it is supposed to be in the high 70's and it was yesterday...then by later this week in the high 50's only.

Make sure you have a working CO monitor OR you get your furnace tuned... :goodvibes

I also see you're from Buffalo originally. Well, just know that THIS Buffalonian had to turn the heat on already. ;)

Tells you which one of us is smarter. :teeth:

that is a great thing to remind everyone of! Not only is it safer to have a CO monitor but, a tuned furnace is just plain more efficient--aka saving $$$--to have a properly functioning furnace :thumbsup2

Check your smoke alarms, too!
We have 2 different brands of smoke & carbon monoxide alarms. I once saw a consumer report demonstrating how different brands have different thresholds. Of course I'll wage there's only really 2 or so manufacturerers-

It seems every year there is at least one family burned out in one of the 5 or so little communities around here :worried: & there is always those sad stories of the CO2 poisonings~Let's be safer this winter!

We have had our heat on nights since last month. :sad2:

Well, the heat's off this am! :cool1:
Sunny & bright.
DH likes the house no warmer than 58 degrees when we're up & about, at night it's down to 52 or so. At 3,000 sq ft of old house, we need to keep the oil bill down. Geez, but I'm getting old, I need more HEAT!

It's colder, today, in the house than outside. We have a 225+ yr old house & it has a nature all to its own :teeth:

Man the heat has been on/off here for weeks! It's on right now since at 10:45 it's a balmy 54 degrees outside. I can see snow in the mountains just above my house and it's not too far from being on my lawn. Somehow we went from summer to LATE fall in the span of 2 weeks. I HATE IT!

It's still about 80 degrees here in Atl and we're still using our A/C. At this time of year I don't have to run it as often, so my electric bill starts to go down. :cool1:

I'm hoping to get to November 1st before turning on the heat. We'll see how that goes! :teeth: It's getting cooler here but the house hasn't dropped below 70 yet. Our electric bill went up because of all the fans running though :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: My best friend still lives in Buffalo (I keep inviting her down :confused3 LOL) and she gets a little annoyed when I tell her "It's chilly today!" She says, "What is it? 70???":p

The strange thing about the weather here that I'm still having a hard time adjusting to after 7 years is the major fluctuation in temps. It was 52 this morning and now it's 81. So hard to dress in the morning, esp. the kids! In Buffalo, it was either cold or really cold :lmao:

The H is O. pirate:

The heat is on, on the street
Inside your head, on every beat
And the beat's so loud, deep inside
The pressure's high, just to stay alive
'Cause the heat is on

Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on
the heat is on Oh it's on the street, the heat is - on.

Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
Caught up in the action I've been looking out for you
Oh-wo-ho, oh-wo-ho
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
(Tell me can you feel it)
The heat is on, the heat is on, the heat is on
Oh it's on the street, the heat is - on.

Shesh, you all make me feel bad!

DD's and DBF have been complaining its cold in here, and I WONT turn the heat on. It's 58 at the thermostat, I have it turned down to 50!!!

We wont run the heat tll November 1st, unless snow flies! We've already had a night with frost, and I kept it off....

Put some socks on and grab another blanket is what I tell the DD's....

And DBF hears "just cuddle" LOL

I can't wait til it cools off here. We had a 'cold snap' last week where the highs were only in the 70's, but they were right back up to 91 today!
