In my opinion, The Haunted Mansion at WDW is the single most perfect attraction created by Disney. A perfect mixture of laughs, mild spookiness, and an enormous back story.

Agree or disagree - discuss....

MAJOR DISAGREE. I avoid it. Pretend(wish?) its not there. When I have to walk by it, I check out what the Harbor House is offering for food...

On the other hand, I believe ToT may be the best themed and scripted attraction, with Star Tours coming in fast. I think TSMM probably offers some of the cooler interactive technology, with a serious nod to the comedic timing of the late night Monsters Inc and Frozen Singalong comedians.

When stacked up, to me, HM is an old dusty mirrors trick. You can have it. I personally am not okay with the theme. That's strictly my personal preference.

Amazing theming.

However, Disney has stepped up their game in a lot of new attractions such as Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids. Love the queues there and noticing every minute detail they added.

Take out the hanging body in the stretching room, and I'm totally with you. I have to shut my eyes for that bit! Bit too scary and gruesome in what is otherwise is a great ride!

(I realise this is linked to my huge fear of hanging people. They give me nightmares without fail).

Plus they added an interactive queue and a fantastic, ride-specific gift shop. Even more to like!:thumbsup2

If they were to slow it down a bit so you could actually see the different things I would agree. Right now they have it cranked too fast to actually get to enjoy the different effects.

I think it's a great ride, but on our trip a couple of weeks ago something seemed a little off. The graveyard scene was so dark you could barely see anything...it was like there was a haze all over in that scene. At first I thought it was just me, but my parents both agreed with me when I asked them later. I do think the new queue is quite fun and the merchandise at Momento Mori is cool!

HM is one of my favourite rides, no question. But I have to say, having ridden it and its DLR counterpart only a couple months apart, that DLRs ride is better. Not the queue, of course. The graveyard scene in particular stood out to me.

Having said that, I think that Disney's best rides are the ones where the Imagineers were allowed or encouraged to come up with original attractions not deeply tied to movies. HM, POTC, BTMRR, Splash, SM, EE, ToT. Of course Radiator Springs and Indiana Jones at DLR are notable exceptions where the Imagineers really went all out. I'd dearly love to see them get back to doing their innovative best at WDW.

It's the favorite ride of my whole family! The theming and attention to detail is second to none. We ride it as many times as we can every trip. As a kid I couldn't wait to see which ghost was going home with me. :lovestruc Love, love, LOVE The Haunted Mansion.
