The Happiest Celebration planning DVD is not that good...

IMO!
I waited two months for the Disney planning dvd to arrive. Got it yesterday and I have to say I don't think it's all that good. I don't understand why they needed to have four different hosts. What I got out of it is they're trying to sell the idea of Grand Gatherings or visiting Disney in groups. But the four people in the video don't even fit together as though they are pals in real life. And I'm surprised at the amount of drinking they show the older guy partaking in. Maybe it's just me ...

I think WDW is sending out the same dvd they did last year. Sounds like you missed all the discussion on the boards about this dvd a year ago. A lot of people disliked it for a number of reasons, but if I remember correctly it was the jumpy camera that annoyed people the most, with the personalities of the hosts running a close second. Sorry to hear they are still sending it out, but I think they will keep using it until the Happiest Celebration has ended or is close to ending. I would like to think they are working on one now that will include Expedition Everest.

We got so many of those DVD planning kits for friends and family. We think it's great. But only because we are in it, lol. It is very fast pace, and is too much of a whirl wind of info.

I liked the video. I don't thing they were pushing groups, I think they were trying to connect to different customer bases. Teens, parents with younger kids and older individuals.

The guy is drinking too much? You don't even know what he was drinking. I liked the video. Lovethattink, which part of the video you are in??

You're right, I don't "know" what he was drinking. But it looked like red wine and fruity alcoholic drinks to me. Again, JMO.

I wasn't particularly impressed with the video, except to get excited about the my trip. But it was jerky and a little disconnected, IMO. I don't know if I learned anything that I didn't know except for maybe some of the non-theme park activities, like boats, horseback riding.

We just watched it this weekend, and it was okay. Nothing really incredible, but not totally boring, either. However, our DS4, who has never been, thought it was great and wants to watch it again. He is now totally excited about going, even though we haven't told him that we are going for his birthday yet.

I have to agree with you on not liking the video. I didn't make it that far to see the guy drinking. It didn't even keep my boys attention. I thought that I'd get it back out and look at it in the next couple of weeks so that it would be fresh on my mind.

I wonder, though, how different the perspective on the video would be, on someone who knows very little about WDW, and isn't even sure they'd want to visit. A good producer crafts his film at a specific audience.

I agree. This video is not designed for someone who knows all about WDW. It is for someone looking to learn the basics and I think the video does that.

We love to watch the video.

FYI-the video now being sent out is the same as last year with a few new scenes added such as Expedition Everest.

I just got it a few days ago. It's just so disjointed. You barely get a look at any attraction before the camera zips off to something else. My DS who's 3.5 loved it and got all excited about the rides but even he wanted to see a little more of each thing before another shot of something.

My kids LOVE this video...they watch it like its a movie, especially my DS7! :rotfl:
Yes, the four hosts are appealing to four different customer types..the kids, the thrill seekers, the relaxers, etc.
When mine need a disney fix between trips they get this video out.
