My friend just told me that the guns are now back at the World Famous Jungle Cruise at Disney World....(They were put back in the Disneyland version a couple of weeks ago)...The Skippers are packing heat again, oh joy....I wonder if Kilimanjaro Safari's will get its wardon with the gun back? Uh, maybe not.....This stinks because I was a Skipper for a whole year and dreamed of being an NRA member in the Jungle....Mr. Heston would be so proud...I would so much loved to wip out my Colt .45, stick it into the face of that Hipo and say, "Go ahead, Make My day" BANG BANG!!!....Well maybe I will pick up a shift or something...It was only a year since my last Jungle shift...Well the Guns are back...disney is making the fans happy again...now just rip out that awful Stitch attraction, make an incredibles ride, and put an Indy ride clone in, and everything will be A.O.K

The guns were there in Nov. I like the fact there back, but the skipper does not shoot the hippo. The skipper we had just kind of fired the gun in the air twice. It was at the same place were they used to kill the hippo. The hippo came out the water, he said something about it, and then blindly fired 2 shots, I guess to frighten it away. I perfered the first version.

November? I guess that shows how long its been since I was on the Jungle Cruise...Well I guess when you used to work on it...you just dont go back on....I wonder why there have been no post on this subject...this is a major step by disney to put these guns back in...I did not even see the orlandosentinal with this story...But I think thats a great move by disney to add these again...its the way Walt visioned this attraction...and even though they say it all started with a mouse...it really all started with a man...a visionary...with his mind on imagination, not on corporation...

One of the skippers we had fired the gun up in the air, claiming she had shot the most dangerous of the hippos - the Tree Hippos.

i thought they had to fire in the air becuase PETAA complained
And i do mean PETAA
"People for the Ethical Treatment of Animatronic Animals" :D

Well, I was with Mr. Curling when our guide shot the tree hippo and let me tell you Chief Nami was quite incensed over the useless act...I've heard that PETRA (a group of cute German girls) is planning a protest along the JC docks although their purpose is unknown to everyone... pirate:

I'm glad to hear about them bringing the guns back to the Jungle Cruise. When we went in November I took my boyfriends 5 and 7 year old on their first ride and they were unimpressed. We ended up with the most boring skipper I have ever had on the Jungle Cruise. Maybe it's a good thing he didn't have a gun because someone may have wrestled it away and shot themselves to get away from the monotone spiel :earseek: :badpc: :boat:

I'm glad the guns are back too! Something else to look forward to for our next trip! :earboy2:

I think we got the same skipper. He actually said "You guys don't want to hear that lame joke about the backside of water do you?". He deleived the whole speil in a nerdy, bored monotone. I think he thought he was being funny, but instead he just ruined the experience for exeryone.

We must've had the same skipper as you last thursday! He had a flat, monotone voice too. The group of us started saying to each other..."Bueller....Bueller".

I thought PETA stands for "People Eating Tasty Animals"

Look out, those PETA folks can be brutal to humans if you disagree with them in any way.

It's pretty ridiculous if PETA was upset over shooting an animatronic hippo. I mean, did they ever once hear him scream in pain? :earboy2:

Don't get me started on PETA. A member threatened to start a protest against a local humane society because the donated dog food they used was was rumored to have mis-treated test animals.
