Maybe we'll get lucky & get a room with an Illuminations view!

I requested the Illuminations view via a fax as well as notation on my original reservation and got it! We had room 2458. Our room had a tree in front of it so we had to walk down a few rooms to see the fireworks.
I personally would not request the same area again. It's quite a long walk with 2 young kids and 2 kids parents after along day. The fireworks weren't too impressive from as far away as we were...jmho.

The latest any of the parks are open that night is 8pm. Our dinner res. is at 9pm. We should be done by 10 I would think? What about getting on a bus to downtown disney and then finding a pop bus? I'm not sure what time dtd closes. Otherwise..has anyone here taken a cab from the contemporary to pop? how much might it cost?

Hi,
My guess would be in the $15 range for a cab ride to POP from CR. I would highly recommend the cab if you don't mind spending the money. On my last trip I took 3 cab rides. It was the first time I EVER took a cab at WDW in the 40+ trips I have taken. I took one home from the Boardwalk. ($10) One from DHS to DTD ($8) and another back to POP from DTD ($12) The last two were on our last day and we had to get back to meet our ME bus. The cabs helped us maximize our times in the park and our shopping and got us back in plenty of time without having to allow a lot of wiggle room. The boardwalk cab we took after dinner at Spoodles one late night. After a full day in the parks I just could not bear to bus hop and it was worth every penny! :goodvibes

Thanks to everyone who set this up! This is an amazing amount of POP information; we have a quick Bday/UCF College visit planned for October and have never stayed at POP, but my DS wish! POP was avail, kids off school for 4 day weekend, UCF Open House, good airfare - it all worked out so we are going in a few weeks! I'm subscribing because I NEED to know everything about POP Century!!! Thanks again!!!!!!!!!!!!

When getting a cab. Are they usually outside the main entrance or do you have to call for one ahead of time. I am hedging on renting a car for Pop Warner week and need to get back to/from WWoS complex. If they are available regularly then do you think it will be cheaper then renting a car for a week.

Did you just write Illuminations view on your request or did you ask for a specific building/room??

There are no preferred rooms in the Jukebox building - another great location for viewing the fireworks is blg 2 ,Tramp, lakeside - esp from the 4th floor - these rooms are not preferred either. When you check in just ask for a room, 4th fl with a view of IllumiNations - bldg 2,Tramp, if possible.

Good luck and have a wonderful stay!

Thank you so much!:woohoo:

I'm not sure if this has been posted before but we were assigned a handicapped room and it had a fridge.

Well...I called my agent at AAA to ask her to add my request to my reservation. I'm kind of annoyed with her, she acted like I was a bother since I've received all my paperwork. I explained to her I would have called myself but I thought if I book throuh AAA the agent is the one who has to add my request. She said "Well, I guess I will just have to call then". I thanked her and hung up. This isin't the first time she's acted this way. Maybe I'm just over reacting...

Our first stay at Pop we had a rental fridge AND a pack in play between the table and the window, so space is not really a problem.

Re: Preferred vs. Standard - I think a lot of people get confused as to what Preferred at a Value really means. They think it is the same thing as the moderates and deluxes, where you pay extra for the view. Or for additional ammenities/ better room. At values, there are no "preferred views," and all the rooms are exactly the same (with the exception of accessible or King, which is also the same price.)

Preferred only refers to the location in relation to the Main hall.
So, views of the lake, and possibly the fireworks, are free.
(What a bargain! LOL)

If you want to be very close to Classic Hall, book preferred.
If you want to be very close to the lake, book standard, and request "lake view."

We aren't going to pay the extra money for a preferred location 'cause we don't mind walking. There's a lot of walking at the CBR and, when we visited Pop in August, we walked allllll around the resort and it didn't bother us at all.

Pop Warner weekend is the National Football and Cheerleading Championships for childern 8 - 15 yrs old.

When is it? Hopefully not in January (when we will be coming), seems like it will be very busy.

What the best meal at POP food court? We're on the dining plan and would love your suggestions....thanks!:goodvibes

I'm sure everyone has a fav. Mine is the Chicken Alfredo with a breadstick, DGD's was the chees steak wrap, desserts would be ice cream sundae and Tydye cheesecake !!
Can anyone tell me if they still have bottled pop at the foodcourt that you can get as your beverage on ddp!! I read that at AllStars they don't haveit anymore !!

My favorite meal at pop food court was the grilled chicken ceaser salad. I think I had it every night we ate at the hotel last year. But I do get that salad just about everywhere i go if possible, lol

You are not overreacting, I have dealt with AAA various times and it seems everytime I call they are never overly friendly and don't go out of their way to help the customer. They actually act like you're bothering them. Hello, you are getting paid to do this so be nice! :lmao: I keep using them though because its worth it for the discounts.

We requested via a fax rooms 2450-2460 (I think this is the correct block), which is 4th floor of building 2. We also included Illuminations view in the event those rooms weren't available. Our room faced Spaceship Earth. The rooms that were also building 2 and 4th floor, but perpendicular to us could also see the fireworks.
I would have preferred a room closer to the buses and walked over to building 2 to see the fireworks. It was, however, a very quiet location!

Parmesan Crusted Chicken - Parmesan Crusted Chicken - $7.99
comes with pasta with alfredo sauce and a bread stick
Enough for DS & I to share!
:cloud9:

That is a delicious meal!! I also enjoy the shrimp lo mein noodles. They come in a traditional Chinese food wax take out box. Give me some soy sauce and a pair of chopsticks and I feel like I'm back in the Orient. Yum!

Just took a van/cab (there were 5 of us) from Pop to Contemporary on 9/11...can't remember the exact fare but I gave the driver a $20 and told him to keep the change! :thumbsup2
On 9/10 the five of us took a cab/van from WL to Pop.
Back in 2007 DH took a cab from Pop to AK and it cost him $8 :surfweb:
