The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

I was reviewing the first post and now I have a question

When I went in July 2006, local phone calls were .75 per call at POR. Has this changed? Or does Pop just have a different policy? I'm reading that correctly right - local calls are free? So now dial up Internet would be free? If so, that will be nice as I paid .75 each time I dialed up last time (which was still much cheaper than the broadband).

Love the new thread. Thanks for all your hard work:hug: . We will be staying at Pop for the first time in December. I had to cancell my first trip to the WL due to finances. Some day. Anyway. Are the jets heated? You know in the kiddie area. I've been in fla for over ten years now and my blood has thined.:lmao: Want to know if I should pack bathing suite for kids.

I think you are right. I just read somewhere about how no call was free at Diseny EXCEPT room to room calls. All local calls had a charge, and they even mentioned that using dialup would be a per minute charge, and if you weren't using the local number then it would be the long distance, plus the usage charge. It might be in my birmbaums book. I'll have to go find it and see for sure. But I am almost 100% positive no call is free.

Are all the rooms with King sized beds handicapped accessible. I was thinking that a king bed may be better for us. We can just put our DD2 in between us, but we will need a bath tub for her since showers are not her favorite thing. I think I read somewhere that the king rooms all just had showers.

Love this thread. We will be going in Aug.

Is there a charge for incoming call to the resort as we have free long distance calling and would like to have calls from home while we are there.

I know not all king size rooms are handicap assecible, but not sure if they all have just showers. I would think the ones taht are, have the tub/shower combo. When we took DD2, we got the 2 dbl beds and I slept in one, and DH in the other, and gave DD the choice to sleep with either of us. She slept with him once, and me the rest of the trip. Even though we had plenty of room, she still seems to grow extra legs and arms under the blankets and all of them were shoved onto my various body parts! LOL!

Great new thread guys! I'm so happy not to have to wade through 300+ pages to get the basic info. (Or 999 people saying only "Subscribing!") I've got a few questions I haven't seen addressed in this thread yet.

-Does anyone know if they sell Soy Milk (Vanilla or Chocolate) at PoP? I'm trying to decide if I need to mail it or just buy it there.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how much it is at POP, but I just wanted to let you know (incase you didn't already) that Silk sells little soymilk cartons in packs of three that don't need refrigeration. That's what I brought with me on our trip, and I just put one in the cooler every night so that it was nice and cool the next morning. So, every morning me and my boyfriend would grab a granola bar and a soymilk carton, and have our breakfast on the way to the bus stop. It saved SO much time! No need to go to the food court!

I don't know, but I think it would be hard to judge when you wanted people to call you. It's hard to say for sure when you will be in your room. We hardly were ever there. We used our cell phones the whole time. We called back and forth to home alot, and we could do it when ever and where ever we wanted.

This is a great example of how we need to ensure CURRENT info is out there on this thread as things do change from the time someone may post a comment to the time we need to know!! Thanks ksloane and jenseib!!

I'll update Post #1 to reflect this confirmed detail as well as adding soy milk is available. I know many families depend on soy milk, so I think that's a good fact to have up on Post #1.

Is there room for a kids blow up matters (Ready Bed) on the floor? Deciding if I should pack one for DS, just in case he doesn't want to sleep with us in the bed....

Can't wait, only 12 more days! Hope it passes quickly!

I'm not sure what that bed is, but if you move furniture around you have enough room for a twin air matress. But you will need to stand it on end during the day. I am assuming you have a room with two beds in it. How a King size room is, I can't tell you for sure.

I would also love to know about the dial up. When I have traveled in the past, before I go, I find a dial up provider in the area and sign up for a week or 2 and its dirt cheap, usually around $5 a week, much cheaper than $10/night. Even with a 75 cents fee to connect the call its not bad. If you connected 20 times that is $15 plus your dial up fee, you are still coming out ahead.
How can Disney charge you by the minute? It is just seen as a phone call going out isn't it?

Anyone have the info on what the former smoking areas / buildings / rooms were? I'll admit I didnt read all the replies in the other POP thread of this one..

Your plan is how I would do it, too. I don't see how they could charge by the minute, either. Maybe one of you lucky ducks who will be there soon can report back to us on this rumor.

I LOVE Pop and this new thread is great! :thumbsup2 Thanks Buckeye Gal!! And....GO BUCKS! :cool1:

I really need to read my book and see if thats where I saw it. But I am almost thinking it was 75 cents a minute. Or there was a usage cahrge and a minute charge. UGH! I am sleep deprived right now and can't remember clearly. Maybe make a post about calling from rooms at the Disney hotels and someone can answer you better or sooner.

LEAVING FOR DISNEY IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS:woohoo: AND WAS WONDERING IF POP HAD COFFEE MAKERS IN THE ROOM?

Tinkerbell63, with your post count, I see you're rather new to the DISboards! Welcome!! if you haven't had the time yet, I'm sure you'll learn a lot more about Pop on Post #1 in this thread.

Have a great time!!
