Yes, you can call back but the response you're hoping for may be hit or miss. (Don't wanna be the the bearer of bad news, it's just been my experience with any kind of requests through central reservations.)

Thanks for all the info! We are staying at the POP for 2 nights in September 2009 before changing resorts. We do not have tickets for those days so I was wondering which location would be best. I have a preferred room, I was thinking of requesting the 60's sections to be close to the pool. What do you think? We will have DD with us and she will be 2.5 by then. Thanks!

We have just returned from POP and were in the 60's, Rooms 4106, 4107 and 7108. For us those were the best rooms. We were right by the pool and the main building.

I had a quick question. We are staying our first time at Pop, Sept 6-13. When I booked the vacation back in April, we booked standard room, but I asked if we could be in the 60s section, facing the lake. The CM stated to me, no, we could not request that section because the entire 60s section was preferred. :confused3

Now I looked at the preferred sections vs the standard sections in post #1, and it shows that the rooms facing the lake in the 60s section are standard. Can I call back now and hopefully have a CM that knows what they are talking about put our request in?

Thanks a bunch! We cannot wait!

I've heard of CMs letting you request all kinds of things, so you definately got a grumpy or clueless CM. Call back. Gently and kindly state that you'd like a lake view in the 60s. Happy planning! :wizard:

We stayed in the 60's Building 5 in Aug. 2006 and if you were on the other side of the elevators facing the lake it was standard. We hope we can get those again. We need connecting rooms because we are a family of 5 and we didn't want to get squeezed into the POR with a trundle bed. This way we have 2 bathrooms and everyone has their own beds (except mom and dad will be together). The map does say those rooms are standard.

Are there soda machines located near the ice machines where you can purchase cans/bottles of soda?

Does Pop provide any body lotion? I don't have any packed yet and I am tired of overpacking, even the little things:) TIA

That's too bad. I thought that all of the values and moderates provided shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower gel, and moisturizer. Guess I'll have to pack some, as well, for my trip next month.

60's lake view is no longer preferred, but std :)

Values have a combined shampoo/conditioner, shower gel and soap. Actually, not sure we we had the shower gel last trip or just the soap.

Have a great trip! :)

When I stayed at POP last November my room had the combination shampoo/conditioner, bath soap and facial soap.

I don't remember seeing any shower gel... although I'd love it if there was shower gel when I'm back at POP this fall. I'm going to try and pack very light because of the new luggage weight restrictions and fees. So I'm going to take full advantage of the toiletries POP provides and not take my own from home.

I got the same response a few months back. I'm just going to call three or four days out and make another request directly to the resort. Every now and then you will get a CM who is still going by old information and is not very familiar with the resort you are trying to book. :)

Our family will be staying at Pop for the first time on a quick trip this November. I'm just starting to read through this thread, but hoped no one would mind answering some quick questions...it'll take awhile to read 181 pages. LOL Anyways, are there elevators at Pop? How are the smoking sections laid out at this resort? Is there any building or section we should try to avoid getting? We just have standard rooms booked.

Thanks!!

You can read all 181 pages, but most of the info you're looking for can be found in Post #1. Yes, there are elevators in every building. I know there's a smoking area just outside the main hall, but I'm not sure of other areas. And as for sections, the 80's and 90's are the furthest out from main hall, but I'd recommend requesting a section based on your own personal theming preferences. None of the buildings is too far from the main hall and/or the pools. Have a fun time!

I would call again for the standard Lakeside room and politely tell the CM if she says NO that maybe she could ask her supervisor as according to the map there are rooms that are standard and that many of your Dis friends have stayed in them ! And see what she says then! I have never had a bad CM at Pop so that is strange !!

Thank you so much for the quick reply! :goodvibes

Awesome page one post. It contains just about everything one needs. It is a real shame about Classic Concoctions closing.

Do you have to call the reservation phone number again to see where (which room)you are staying? We made our reservation and she told us nothing about our room number or anything! Should I be worried.:confused3

They assign rooms about 3 days prior to your check in. If you want a certain area, put the request in with your reservation now, and then fax them after 4 about 5 days before you leave with a reminder of your request.

their are 3 smoking sections right outside of classic hall. One right in front of the front of the building by the doors, one going out the back to the resort, if facing Hippy Dippy pool it is to your right, and then go down the steps in front of Petals bar and there is a ssmoking section there. We were also told the whole path around the resort was smoking, though the map showed it only at certain points. But we would keep moving while smoking if we were there so we wouldn't bother anyone.
The smoking byt the doors I thought was pretty dumb spot as all nonsmokers have to go through that area. I tried to stay as far over as I could,as to respect thouse who don't smoke and stuck to smoking sections. My DH would try to light up just here or there (espeically at the parks) but I think I got it through his brain now that it is very restricted!

Can I just tell you how wonderful you are!!?? I wish every smoker was as considerate as you. How nice. Thank you thank you! I really mean this from the bottom of my heart, I'm not being a smart aleck. I am sincerely appreciative.

Blessings,
Winnie
