So I got curious and decided to research if there was any Free Wifi to be found around the Disney area. I found one site http://affordingthemouse.com/?p=3622 that has an article called Free Wifi Program Expands that was posted on April 20, 2011. It was a second article to the original article titled Free Wifi, Finally? http://affordingthemouse.com/?p=3497 posted on March 25, 2011. Not sure where this will all lead but maybe Free Wifi is in the future for Disney guests.

The first article I mentioned does say that you can get Free Wifi at the McDonalds near the All Star Resorts but that may have just been for a short time.

It's official! We're going to be at Pop in 45 days!
We weren't sure until the last minute (I consider PIF date as the point of no-return) and dh got the word from work yesterday (his vacation request was approved) so we're all paid off and ready to go! :cool1:
Now if time could hurry up... :rotfl2:

Never mind...I was asking about the internet, but I should have read further into the thread first. I see now that the only available option is Ethernet for $10 a day.

PIF is in 10 days and we're putt puttin' to the finish line. DH is out of work and we are getting our trip paid little by little come hell or high water. If our kids didn't know about the trip and haven't been planning and packing everyday for the past month, we probably would have cancelled since we really should not be spending the money. However, we don't want to disappoint them, we need some happy time ourselves, and we are doing Disney on the super cheap at Pop with a 40% room discount. If we were staying mod or deluxe I would feel guilty enough to cancel.

I'll definately be doing the  next week when we have finally PIF. The struggle will make the trip that much more appreciated (as if it isn't already!)

We are back from vacation. I have to say staying in POP was great. Not many problems.

We were in 4460 because I had requested a quiet room and Michael worked very hard meeting my request. You could see illuminations from the room and it was very quiet. We had a dusty towel animal in the window and when I showed the housekeeper it only had 1 eye she ran and got 2 more animals for us! She was very nice and would stop and chat with us sometimes. It did not seem to be far at all from bus stops and food court. I am the type that always wants the closest parking spot etc so if I didn't think it was far then no one else should. I hated the soap for showers instead of shower gel.

The food court was always clean probably because we ate dinner early between 5:00 and 6:00. The hustle was fun. My biggest complaint was the inconsistancy in time to get food. One of us would get our food right away and one of us would be in a line and one of us would be told "that will take 8 minutes." So someone's food would always be cold. Or one of us would go eat all alone and then be done before the others came to the table. They need to do something about this.

The buses were great and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes. There was a long walk to get to bus stop on way home out of parks. Once everyone was told the wrong place to be picked up so there were some complaints about the bus drivers telling us wrong. We had to walk all the way back and around after one park. After illuminations they had big charter type buses waiting to take us back to Pop. Anyone know if this is normal after evening events like wishes, fantasmic, or illuminations?

Pool was fine. Plenty of chairs. Some games around pool but they were always busy when we were there.

I really liked the whole atmosphere of Pop. Everyone was great, even the guests. It was a fun place to be. It would definitely be a place we would stay again.

We were at POP last week and Michael was our check-in CM and he was wonderful!!! I mentioned in passing that our 6 yo DD had been running a fever for our 2-day drive to get there. He immediately said that the connecting rooms we had been assigned were not yet ready but he would find us something that was so she could get in a bed to rest. It took a few minutes, but not only did he find us rooms that were ready, but he insisted on finding them in a better location than our original assignment so that our DD wouldn't have as far to walk to things if she wasn't feeling well. He also mentioned all the options for medical care should we need it. I thanked him over and over and he humbly said, "My job is to make your stay enjoyable. These are just little things that I can do to make that happen. It's my pleasure to make sure your stay with us is a good one." I really should have taken the time let a manager know how happy I was with his service, but 2-day car ride with a sick kid, other kids anxious to get to a park....I just didn't get around to it.

We just got back from a great trip to POP and loved every second if our time there! We did the online checking and was going to see where we ended up with no requests. It was our first time here so we thought what the heck lets see what happens. We were in the 70's section room 6360 and we loved it! It was quiet, by the lake, not a long walk to anything. Next time I am requesting that building! My kids loved the resort. We used al the pools, and found that they were never packed! The food was great and I was afraid we would end up eating the same thing every night but we didn't and it was great. Buses were ok. One night we had a long wait to get back to POP from Downtown Disney but other than that it was fine. We will definatly be back at the POP in the future!

Glad you enjoyed your stay!

I had issues at the POP with ATT had to stick my phone in the window ledge

I'm glad I wasn't the only one! We've always had AT&T and we've stayed at POP before and never had any issues with service. This trip (last week) the only way I had service was if -- like you -- my phone was on the window ledge. I also had very spotty service throughout the parks on this trip as well. Never had an issue before. I wonder what the problem is? :confused3

I will be there the same time as you are as I leave in 43 days and I cannot wait :yay: It will be my first time at Pop and I am very excited :dance3:

I have Sprint and had reception problems in the room. I had to stay near the window too, or step outside to talk. DH and DS have blackberries and their phones didn't get any reception in the room at all, only my little rumor did. I have no problem in the park, except inside the Living Seas, and it's always been a problem there.

I guess only members can open the pdf?

WOW! Very magical check-in! You can always go online and fill out the info. Or if you get an email to do a survey, you can mention it there too.

This just reminded me......I was at Pop May 29 to June 5th (First time staying there and I LOVED IT!!) but I had the worst time getting reception on my phone in my room and a few areas at the parks! I could go outside 2 doors down and get a signal, but in my room....almost never had reception! I've never had this issue at WDW in all my trips before! My sister has a different service provider than me (I have t-mobile and she has Sprint) and she had the same problem in her connecting room next to mine. I always bring my laptop and use my phone as a router to get internet access in my room (at the All Stars) but couldn't do it at all this trip.

Anyone else have problems getting cell phone reception at Pop?

On 2007 and 2008 I had Alltel and service was very spotty at pop and even in the parks at times. But still worked much better in the parks. Basically no service in the rooms. DH had Nextel (which is owned by Sprint) and he was even worse in the room. I switched to Nextel after that trip and I still have problems with service in Pops rooms as well. I think this past trip it was slightly better, but still spotty., But we only stayed at pop one night and I think I only really used my phone by the Hippy Dippy Pool.

Just wanting to confirm that Pop has the new refillable mugs out. Anyone there recently that can confirm this?

Thanks

I was looking thru new menu's on All Ears and it says the icee's are back, is anyone there that can verify this is true or not?

I beleive the new mugs came out sometime in Feb. Yes they have them. I think all resorts have them now. I can't see why they wouldn't after all this time.
